Thank you both so much for this wonderful video! So much great and helpful information and so sweet of you to share your experiences. ❤️
Thanks for watching, I enjoyed this chat. 🙏🙏🙏
Hello you wonderful human! Thanks to Elly, I found your channel today! I am super excited to view your content, especially since Elly is a bit MIA recently (can't hardly wait for her book!) Also, Chamomile is by far one of my favorite plant allies. All Good Medicine! Keller, Georgia, USA
And many thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hi there, welcome! Elly is amazing I'm really looking forward to her book also, it will be a wonderful read I bet! Yes indeed I love chamomile also 🙏🙏🙏
It's really nice to hear about your chamomile oil infusion time! I think I will try it. The most infusion time I have gone is three months. Also, I have read about a "perfume" method where fragrant flowers are pressed into Tallow for some time. Have you ever done this before?@@DawnOrganics
Hi George 👋🏻🥰 I hope you are doing well. I have continued my path of figuring out more on my fibro triggers, and gluten seems to be a big factor. I have resumed a normal Mediterranean diet, minus gluten, and have not experienced any fibro flares in more than 6 months. I do not use artificial sweeteners at all, only cane sugar, coconut sugar, molasses, honey, maple syrup , or brown sugar. And all very sparingly. Your post here with Keto got me started on this search for better health and a way to help my flare ups. I don’t know if it is just me, who the gluten affects, but wanted to share, as it is in everything from breads, and pasta, to soy sauce and salad dressings. I hope your journey is going lovely!! Lots of Love and Positive energy!! 🙏🏻❤️🥰 Mitzi
That's great, glad you are making some improvements, everyone's triggers will be different. Gluten for me isn't an issue but sugar and carbs seem to be, so being in keto really helps me overalls and reduces inflammation and flare ups. I believe it will most definitely help you to, it helps any autoimmune issues or inflammation in the body
🙏🏻❤️Keto really did help me the first 6 months. It is what got me digging deeper. I have Hashimoto’s as well, and the gluten issues were causing me such severe dry eyes. ( A weird symptom, but what made me keep trying to find answers.) I lost around 50lbs on keto, and have continued to slowly lose since switching to gluten free/Mediterranean. My Fibro seems to be in remission if that is even possible, my thyroid ( Hashimoto’s) is also doing better ( I had my first medication decrease in 20 years🎉🎉🎉) I just really want to say thank you, for posting your journey, because without you, and my love of soap making, I would still be suffering major flare ups almost daily. 🙏🏻❤️ much love from Florida!! 🙏🏻❤️
I'm so glad to hear that, and thanks for the useful info to! Well done to taking control of it, most people give up as it's incredibly difficult to navigate and health professionals don't always have that answers 🙏🙏
@ 🥰🙏🏻❤️
Hello George, thank you for all the information and demonstrations of your soaps. I have a question regarding Citric Acid, that is, if it makes Sodium Citrate, what are the benefits of adding Sodium Citrate to the recipes, thank you in advance.
Thanks for watching, it's a chelator and reduces soap scum
Hi, a bit different question: I'd like to try making 100% coconut dish soap (hot process) and add lemon juice instead of citric acid to prevent scum (don’t have on hand). How much would I need to replace the water to bring it to 2% citric acid (superfat is 0%)? The math with acid is not clicking for me yet 😅 Have you tried it this way? Would appreciate any help. Thank you! I appreciated your video from 3 yrs ago about all the soap math. All the best from Canada
I believe lemon juice is 7% citric acid by weight so you will have to work it out. Although I don't recommend it, high amounts of lemon juice will turn the soap to mush. Best to use citric acid or straight up sodium citrate
Hi George, I'm watching this video again :) I'm catching a lot of info I missed (or forgot) the first time. You mention using zinc oxide instead of titanium dioxide as a colorant. Is it a 1:1 substitution? Do you recommend liquefying it first in water or oil before adding it to the recipe? If so, what ratio of zinc oxide to liquid to liquefy? Lastly, when do you add the zinc oxide (mixture) to the recipe? Thank you!
Hello there! Thanks for watching, you can just add it to the batter, treat it like clays or mica's when colouring or splitting the batter for multi-colours
Sounds good. Thanks for the speedy reply!
Hi. Can you direct me to your shampoo and conditioner bars❤ Thankyou. Hello from Perth 🦘🦜
HI Diana, thank you, sure. They are currently out of stock they will be available early February! So keep an eye out! www.dawnorganics.com.au/products/shampoo-bars
What does organic brown sugar do in this process? And when you add it?
It's a great lather booster, you dissolve it in the water before adding the lye
@DawnOrganics cool, can i used white sugar?
Absolutely
Hi, i already try it yesterday and got the ph in 9, but today i try delute the paste and it turn 12 , is this recipe must be dilute immedietly?
Sounds like it wasn't cooked long enough. Will need to hear it up again in the crock pot and continue cooking
Please I have Questions how can calculate the essential oil blend in 893.57 of oil for my mold like this 3% x 893.57 then divide to 100 can explain thank you 🥰
You got it! 3% of 893.57g is 26.81g of essential oil for your blend. You can go as high as 5% also which is 44.65g
@@DawnOrganics❤ thank you can you explain this please 3% Lavender French / Australian (Aussie Soap Supplies) + 1% May Chang / Litsea Cubeba (Heirloom Body Care) + 1% Cedarwood Atlas (New Directions) + 0.7% Natural Vitamin E (AWO) How calculate in 893.57 g if used small molds thank you

@@DawnOrganics thank you so much ❤️🙏
Great video George. I haven’t used tallow but I do use lard and I love it. A tip for working with individual moulds is to set them out on a chopping board or even inside the lid of an A4 box. If you need to tap them for bubbles you can pick the board or box up without stretching the sides of the moulds. And putting the sugar solution in the eo blew my mind! I was putting it the water with the sodium gluconate and that’s probably why I have trouble dissolving it. I can’t wait to try your way now.
Thanks for the tip Jan. I realized when I was unmoulding I was too excited to try this recipe 🤣🤣🤣 that's very interesting maybe that could be the reason it isn't dissolving properly try without and see. Although I don't think it would be the reason, they both should dissolve fine but you never know! I've been using sugar syrup for a while now so can't say for certain, I haven't dissolved sugar in the lye solution in a long while now and we'll before I started using sodium gluconate 🙏🙏🙏
@@DawnOrganics I meant I am adding the sugar syrup to the lye water as well as the sodium gluconate
Ahh yes I understand, in either scenario I don't feel it would stop SG dissolving, but you never know, try and see if it works! 🙏🙏🙏
Great video thanks George!!
Thanks for watching 🙏🙏🙏
Well done! You will love the skin feel in the shower for sure!
Thank you, I love it already it will only get better as it cures 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for another great video! Love your work☺💚
Thank you kindly much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
I have used Tallow with great results. Thanks for the recipe. I will also try this one.
That's great, I think you will love it 🙏🙏🙏
I think it's wonderful to honor the animal by not wasting any part, especially not the fat that is just so beautiful in soap and so great for the skin. I think it's quite an environmentally conscious ingredient for Australians to use too because it's local so less carbon footprint in getting it to us. 💚I have no doubt you will love these bars George. Your recipe is very similar in qualities to my latest favourite, which is a rice bran, tallow, coconut & almond recipe & it's an absolute dream on the skin! Enjoy!☺
Oh! And I forgot I wanted to say I think you did the right thing lowering your coconut to 20% alongside tallow for the perfect amount of lather plus gentleness! I use 20% coconut in my tallow bars too and the lather is incredible but not drying at all!
Thanks Holly. Yes I agree it's a good idea to use it and not let it go to waste. I love them already been using that tester to wash my hands with. Makes my hands feel silky. That recipe sounds very nice I bet that would be nice on the skin to! Yes indeed I knew to lower it, I prefer to see the cleansing traits on the lower side in lyecalc, I wasn't comfortable with 25 or 30% coconut oil. I have used some tallow bars a long while ago which were very drying, The ratio of oil made it a drying bar on the first use 🙏🙏🙏

Heirloom Body Care sells it now🙂 I know I found that Tasmanian brand too which looks top quality but so expensive and only small amounts, not ideal for soap makers lol.
Thankyou.🥰🦋
Just lovely George, well done using tallow. I got excited when I got the notification that you were making a tallow soap 😆. I use 25% tallow in my recipe and just love it. Doesn’t trace too fast and makes a lovely batter, very nice to work with .Like you said , it makes an amazingly long lasting bar and the bubbles are divine . I have those Kmart moulds too and they make a lovely sized bar , good for people with smallish hands. Great video George 💜
Thanks so much 🙏 very kind. They are good little moulds aren't they? It's lovely to work with, overall very impressed with the tallow. Thanks for watching 🙏🙏

Palm, cocoa butter, and animal fats all come with their ethical issues, but we have to have something to provide palmitic and stearic acid. We can use kokum butter, but I find it slimy in soap. We each do our due diligence and make a choice that is right for us. I've chosen beef tallow and lard. Not only do they sit best with my conscience, but I also find they give me the best results. That's just me, though. I appreciate your willingness to try tallow.
Yes indeed, I think everything we use in our day to day has some sort of sourcing / ethical issue if we dive into that topic. It's whatever is right for the individual. I think tallow is amazing, it just ends up in landfill, best to use it for soap making I say or even cooking. Tallow is making a huge comeback 🙏🙏🙏
Tallow is lovely to use. I use it all the time..I render my own beef suet.
That's awesome, I am really liking it also 🙏
Thanks for the gift today, hope you like your exhaust fan!
You're very welcome man, yes I love it, just finished cleaning everything 🤣🤣🙏🙏
I love the sneaky sniffs you have. They must be yummy. You make it all look so easy George!! I like your tshirt too. These bars are gorgeous. I love the chunkiness of them. They would be so nice to use!!!! Love the colors too!! Xx
Hehe thank you, always sneaky sniffs! Have to smell em! They are very nice fragrances I am a fan of the heirloom ones. Very nice. They are big and chunky and one is lasting me more than a month! Crazy how long these last. 🙏🙏
@ I will have to put an order in. I adore your soaps and it will be a while before I make any again. Xxx
If only it was that fast lol. I’m going to have to bite the bullet and dust off the scary slab mould. You’ve inspired me!
Ooh you should, I love slabs I remember I was very nervous my first few times now It's my favorite to work with 🙏
Happy to watch your soaping joy. Glad that King of Suds is doing well too.
Thanks so much Elaine 🙏🙏
I bet they smell divine... thanks George
They look so good. Love the cigar bands. Nice generous size too 😍😍😍
Thank you! I'm going back to cigar bands for all my bars now. Even though I moved to boxes, going back! They are more appealing
@@DawnOrganics I agree. Show them off in all their glory 👌🫧
They look delicious. Bet they smell amazing!
They really do they have been popular so far. 🙏🙏
Yay!!! 🎉❤ can't wait!!
Thank you 😊🙏 it's just a non chatty video. Nothing over the top ! 😁
Thank you for all your teaching videos. I am very happy I found your channel. Do you know where I would be able to find red Australian clay please?
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏red Australian clay is no longer mined sadly
@@DawnOrganics Thank you.
Thank you very much for this video. Do you subtract the sugar syrup from your water content as well or just the salt syrup?
Thanks for watching! personally no because it's such a small amount of water and I always work with a very steep water discount
@@DawnOrganics Ok thank you. This video informed me that I could use salt.
Sorry 😢 That's tough But great your back
I am patiently waiting for people to learn the truth about the citic acid we purchase to put in our products, it is no derived from citrus fruit and is terrible to put in or on our bodies. Citric acid if fruit is good but this is not what we are purchasing in products that contain in as an additive in our foods or what we purchase. Protect yourself form this terrible product people, do your real research! It may seem to have bennefits but in the long run, our health is compromised for it.
Yes indeed, a lot of citric acid is synthetically produced. However I have been using a citric acid that is made from fermentation of corn which is nice that it's made from a natural source (from heirloom body care). Also we have to remember it is no longer citric acid once added to soap, it is converted to sodium citrate. Also this is a much better ingredient to use than EDTA and other chelators, they are also very bad for our health and do no biodegrade, very bad for our waterways
It's so great to see you back ❤ love the soaps. My parents just recently returned from Borneo and my mum was telling me what the locals said about using palm and she got to see the conservation work. If we don't use palm, the people their will lose their livelihoods.
Thanks for watching, always a pleasure to see a comment from you ❤️ indeed isn't it, the vikor palm oil comes from Africa and they heavily rely on it like Shea butter and palm kernel oil, that's what drives their economy. It isn't so black and white 🙏🙏🙏
Prayers for peace to you and her family. ❤ Thank you for sharing with all of us peasants. 🥰❤️🌺
Thank you kindly, oh not peasants at all 🙏🙏🙏
Lovely to see you again George
There's a familiar face, thank you kindly 🙏🙏🙏
So lovely to see you again. I’m so happy that you are getting back to doing things you love. Creating is very healing. Xx I’m sorry you’ve had such a heartbreaking time but feel very glad to have been able to be here for chats when you need. Xxx grief is hard and it’s nice to be able to share with others who care. Xxx great video. Love the lather on that soap and I love that blue!!! Xxx much love. Cass
Thanks Cass, appreciate you so much. It really is very healing and feels good to get back into it. It creates a beautiful lather indeed, I really love it
@ awww. Xxxx I can’t wait to try your new recipe. I will have to get my new room set up very soon. Xxxx
Good to see you again, George. Welcome back! So much sadness in the world these days. 😥
Thank you kindly Elaine, yes sadly there is. Soaping gets us through for sure 🙏❤️
@@DawnOrganics Yes, soaping is a mindfulness exercise for me, really focused so that I don't make a mistake. Haven't made any in months. I need a fix!
Oh you must! Can't be having a soaoaholic without making soap 😉
It makes me smile that you're doing what you want to do 😊 It's so much fun playing with colour and smells. Soap making is such an artistic outlet. It's nice to see you again 🫧🌿💕🫶🙏
Thank you kindly, and for watching. It really is fun, been enjoying it a lot. It's such a great outlet and stress reliever 🙏🙏🙏
@ I agree. It's my happy place 🥰😁🧼
I am sorry you are going through so much. It' s good to see you back.
Thank you, good to be back 🙏🙏🙏

I just went to your webpage. I want to purchase some of your essential oils because you are the king of blending. I’m having difficulty and I’m having a senior moment challenge today here I’ll try it again later but maybe you can just direct me in the right direction later.
Hi Susan, thanks for the big compliment! Much appreciated. It's under Aromatherapy Rollers & Blends. Although they are very small, because it would be a little costly in large quantities to sell
Grocery stores dilute their products
Are you referring to liquid soap?
@DawnOrganics no milk and juice
There's a lady on youtube that made 100% castile rice bran oil. It looks amazing.
Nice. Is that Elly by any chance?.I watched that video this morning, it does look wonderful 🙏
Can you please tell me what this soap was like? Is it drying or oily? What was the foaming like? Sorry if my question seems dumb. I'm a beginner.
I want to make 50/50 rice bran and coconut oil soap for face and body. How much superfat will be good? I don't want too much oily or too much dry! Please help I'm new to soap making.
You probably could, id say anywhere between 8-10% superfat for 50/50 coco rice bran. Just depends on your skin and climate of where you live, best to make very small batches and see which one you like better. Personally I haven't tried it so would be interesting to see
I watched your other video that was Rice bran, soyabean and coconut oil soap. Can you please tell me about that soap?
It's a nice mild bar, gentle and inexpensive. If you can get your hands on those three oil combos at a good price definitely try it out
What salt is it? Looks like himalayan salt in your bottle.
Correct. I use Himalayan pink salt
That sounds like such a lovely bar of soap. I love charcoal soap
Thank you, much appreciated. I literally just cut a new batch of that right now, hehe 🙏
Hi George, How did you calculated the amount of Citric acid and its dilution tobe added.
Lye calc will tell you how much citric acid and extra lye you will need. I have a tutorial on lyecalc if you want to check it out
@@DawnOrganics Got it. Thanks a lot.
Excellant video George. Thank you very much. Love from India. Whats the shelf life of this with grapeseed extract and without? Can we extend the shelf life to about an year for commercial product?
Thanks for watching! Liquid soap can last for years, I have used within 3 years and perfectly fine
@@DawnOrganicsIs it for undiluted or diluted version last for an year?
@@ps-bh9ct personally, both have lasted me longer than a year
@@DawnOrganics Thats good to hear. Thanks a lot.
