This is a quick showcase of my spatial audio system i...

Very cool! I began a week ago to learning Godot and its been an amazing experience. i want create videos showing the process of development, like your videos. Sorry for my bad english, i'm from brazil, but if you has a discord that we can talk about games, was be cool share ideas with another dev
Good luck with your gamedev journey! 👈👈🤖
Please make the dramatic comment reading a regular thing. This is great
People will complain about how they won't buy someone's game just because it's too expensive. Yet, no one is forcing them to buy it. These people are just being assholes for no good reason.
OMGG THAT LOOKS SO COOL! IT REMINDS ME OF THE OLD LEGEND OF ZELDA GAMES AND I LOVE IT!!!
I watch at 2x speed and only realized it was 👈👈🤖 when I read a reply to a comment here I assumed it was 👉👈🤖 lol

how the fuck godot became controversial?

Thanks Mr-Highball!
Developers can you sell to a man who he is did not he that him he when is for and them time important.. why devs?
Sometimes that's just how life works out! 👈👈🤖
why they got beef with you 💀
hah idk! 👈👈🤖
Because they are jealous
Brazilians like 2d games, F u-c - k Ha-te.r.s and... pixel art >>>>>> 3d art... because yes...
Thanks Tom Bombadinho! 👈👈🤖
you are the 10th person who tries to solve a problem, without understanding what the problem is. your problem IS NOT the depth of sprites, BUT the DRAW-ORDER. on a 2D plane, you sort sprites by its vertical position (position.y). sprites with a higher y-value will be drawn first, sprites with a lower y-value last. ive seen soo, soooo many videos where ppl punch in "-y" or "-bbox_bottom". this makes no sense and does not solve the problem with overlaping sprites. this creates even more problem because this breaks your entire layer system and level design. also, before making videos and "teaching" others, you should dive more into a topic.
There are a lot of ways to solve problems, if this one doesn't work for you that's ok it works for a lot of people. I haven't used Game Maker in years but at the time of making this video I didn't like the approach of writing a system that manually sorts objects to redraw them in the correct draw order. This type of feature should have been a built in feature in game maker where you just could check a box either in your room for the layer, or for each object. Most game engines build this in and not including this doesn't make sense for a game engine focused on 2D games. Depth is built in to Game Maker so instead of writing a custom drawer to loop over objects and control draw order, using the built in depth system makes a lot of sense for a lot of people and that is why you see a lot of videos using depth. I liked the simplicity of using depth but I wanted it to obey my layers (or pretend to obey them) by clamping depth values and normalizing them per layer. This approach worked great for me so I decided to share it. From some minimal reading using depth looks like this might have a negative effect with effects and filters (those features did not exist when making this video). If you have an implementation that you enjoy and works well for you I would encourage you to make a video or share your approach with people to help out other game developers rather than complaining to other devs who freely share their approach and code for anyone to use (or not use).
Maybe its something im doing wrong but certain audios will just not play/make any sound and I have yet to find out why.
but outside of those sounds this is amazing. Improves the feeling of a horror game 1000 fold
Big respect for your reasoning to make your previous games free, Sacred Forest is definitely looking like a step up! I'll for sure be wishlisting :)
I want to build one too, start from knowing nothing but I can see what games what I want to make. Hope I can be as awesome as you. What an amazing progress
Is'nt this (sold) / (free claim) ratio an indicator of overpricing in general?
Bro spent $700 in a shitty game. Genius;
It's like I always say, you gotta spend big money to spend big money! 👈👈🤖

Quick question what exactly do I need to sell my game and also how do I do the taxes for it this is holding me back from selling my game because I don’t know how to do any of this
Well if you want to sell a game on steam you log into steamworks and purchase a game credit to start the process of setting up your store and everything for your game. It has a checklist that you go through sort of step by step to set everything up. partner.steamgames.com/ As for taxes, I'm not a tax professional so I can't really say specifically hah, but when you set up your steamworks account it makes you fill out a tax questionnaire to set up the paperwork steam needs so that you can access the necessary tax forms when it comes time for tax season. I can really only recommend to speak to a tax professional about how you would file it and it depends on what type of business entity you want to file it under (like a sole proprietorship, LLC, Corporation, etc).
That's cool ! Thank you for sharing
This is so confusing.
dev time ? I am assuming that isnt as a full time job. it would be better to just estimate the hours spent.
For Okashi Towers I worked about 10 hours a day 7 days a week during development, the others were 3-5 hours a day so this is about how many hours per game: Okashi Towers: ~3000 hours KIRO II: ~360 hours KIRO: ~135 hours Beardy McStrongarm: ~1080 hours
In other words the lifetime income from all the games has been what an enterprise dev makes in a week. That's pretty brutal.
this has gone right over my head :/
(:
:)
Btw I have a question, I hope if it gets answered. Like did you had ratings of your game like age rating ? Is it necessary before publishing the game on Steam ? (I was just little bit confused)
Before you launch a game on steam, steam has a survey you have to fill out for each game and they give your game a rating based on your answers
@@Blekoh Thanks a lot, it means a lot to me.
$380.53 is slightly above my country (Biggest city) monthly minimum wage. negative profit, i call it expensive experience learning
It's like I always say, you gotta spend big money to spend big money! 👈👈🤖
new game looks cool
good job
i just said it to chat gpt and i got it all copied
All your games looks like shit, including the new one. Im surprised you got any sells at all, good for you.
oh thanks dewd!
I'm surprised shit like that sold at all
me2 👈👈🤖
so hmm, how do you make a living?
By taking out my 401k/retirement and quickly burning through that, then selling my car to pay rent while I send out hundreds of resumes to try to get another software job 👈👈🤖
Thanks for the video, it's very instructive and I think I'll do the same when my projects come out
Your new game looks cool, but I won't buy it and I'll encourage others not to either. You seem like a great guy, but devs standing with Godot sends a message you support Godot. And Godot represents hate and bigotry. Good luck.
Thanks! 👈👈🤖
moitivated todo more blender (basically my project to learn it so i can do it as a job) keep it up
Blender has come such a long way and is a really useful tool to learn for so many types of projects. I find myself using it for tons of stuff even outside of gamedev. Good luck! :)
Imagine if you made your games 99 cents from the start…..
I'd probably at least have made 99 cents! :)
Hey, really cool video! I've been developing a first-person cleaning store management game for about two weeks now and I plan to release it next month, my goal with this project is to release a game on Steam, do you have any advice on getting people to know about the game?
so people who paid got nothing?
O M G - SACRED FOREST LOOKS AMAZING! Can't wait to play it!

me and my friend are currently working on a Metroidvania game for our school computer Exhibition and It's our 1st time Making fairly large game with multiple mechanics I hope it turns out well
Very cool! Good luck with your game!

the project with my biggest priority is to clean my house, cause its a real mess and i just maxed out the cognitive dissonance ability perk to 99 wish me luck
Good luck! I need to do the same hah!
Sacred Forest looks amazing. wish u all the success
Sacred Forest is shaping up really good keep it up and thanks for your transparency!!
Thanks for making such a dope and detailed video. Did you do indie full time?
Thanks! The first few were not full time but KIRO II and Okashi Towers were 🤖
Super cool efforts there cheers and current I am working on my ancient war game, just making a small game first
That's awesome! Small games are great since the end goal seems to always be in sight hah! Good luck with your game! 👈👈🤖
I could kiss you, thanks man you're awesome!
First video I've ever seen from your channel, and I really enjoyed the way you were transparent about everything and also that quality leap from your previous projects into Sacred Forest is just so awesome to see! I'm currently working alongside a couple of friends on an exploration game titled "Realtor" on Steam. Thank you for your content!
Sweet good luck with your game Realtor! :)
Been following along with the sacred Forrest devlogs, awesome to find this video! Always motivated to continue making devlogs when I see so many awesome projects being shared, have been making a stealth based destruction game for about two years now!
