Amazing job.Love how it looks.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey mate will it darken the color of a maple neck?
Yes for sure it will darken it!
How did the dye penetrate through the sanding sealer?
I don’t really know but I’ve been learning that way through TH-cam 🤷🏻😂
Hi. Great video. Can you please explain what's going on here? 2:17
Looks great! Is this straight maple? Or toasted? Curious how much it would darken regular maple neck. Thanks!
Nice job! Is that mahogany for the neck?
Serious skill
I've been obsessed with getting to know how to build a guitar, all vids on yt either use many machines or handcraft it for months. Watching this gave me the feeling that it's simple and I as a beginner can do it. You're the best keep it up
Excellent job great build thank you for the video I will be looking for more good work
Thanks!! I’m working on new projects!! Hope to release those videos soon!
can i have the guitar making scale
26,5 inch scale :)
awesome work! is it 27 inch?
26,5 inch scale !!
9:57 how do you get the radius on the fretboard
I used a radius sanding block that I bought from Amazon ! 9,5 inch radius
That music is killer!
🤟🏼
great building skills! Would've liked to see/hear a sound test!
Thanks!!! I know ... I don't have anything to record it ... but I'm working on it for futur video!!
Impressive work. I love the bevels on the body, very subtle and classy.
Thank you so much !!!
Can I ask what the point of the masking tape under the glued wood is?
Some of us let it there and some remove it ! The goal is to not glue the truss rod to leave it move freely!
Where do u get those paper templates?
This is the website that I use for my templates www.electricherald.com/guitar-templates/
Lovely work and great result
Thx so much for the comment 😊
How long does the Boiled Linseed Oil take to dry between coats. Did your finish eventually get dry and loose tackeyness ? I am in the middle of a boilded linseed oil finish on a tele body and neck. It seems to take a long time to get dry and sandable.
I did 24 hours between each coats. And after I let it dry for a week and the finish became dry and sandable. I love the feel of it a lot !
Do you have a link to photos?
You can go on my instagram page : @sebsguitarsworkshop :)
looks blue
Yes it’s blue ! The name of the dye is turquoise but on burl maple it looks more blue !
Everyone on luthier discussions says wipe on poly sucks. Im not sure what is is even used for. Ive learned never to clear coat until I get a proper gun to spray at high pressure with fine fine texture. No rattle cans ever again. Probably sticking to boiled linseed oil on the body as well as the neck, which means the body must be stained not painted. I think BLO would go over that red trans. Beuatiful as HELL btw.
I agree with you 💯! I think for my next builds to go with high build oil like the crimson’s one. No more rattle can until I get a proper spray gun. Thanks for sharing!
How many guitar players does it take to screw in a light bulb? Answer: One, but the three others in attendance would say they could of done it faster, better or with more feeling. Nice job on the git fiddle. Keep doing your stuff and get some heat in that shop.
Thank you for your kind words 😌! And yes I’m working on some heat in a new workshop !! ;)
This is so cool to see! I am doing a build with a roasted maple neck which needs to get darker to match the roasted swamp ash body. This method looks like a good way to go. A few more coats in the neck and freatboard to match the tones. Would you recommend any brand in particular? I like the tone in yours and the lack of yellowing. Keep the awesome videos coming. Lots of help for noobs like me. You have a new subscriber. Have a great day! Sebastian
Thank you for the kind words!! I don't have a particular brand to suggest you..I used the one that was available at my local store!! I think any kind of linseed oil would do the job perfectly :)
I now see it is Solvable branded. Sorry for that :)
Looks an awful lot like a fender toronodo body template. Kinda a rare body shape but is not an original design.
It’s based on that but I don’t have the finished shape at this point. I’m looking to cut away some of the shape to my desire! I’m making some changes on that design….
В таком холодном помещении где даже пар изо рта идёт у мастера 😮. Какой инструмент получится? Гриф при нормальной температуре вывернет, а дека треснет...
I don't let the wood to sleep outside at this temperature. It always inside the house. Only if I work on the guitar it's outside. And it wasn't that cold. Maybe 5 to 10 celsius!!! ;)
Killer work and great video! Digging this build. Really nice inlay layout 👌
Thanks my friend!! I made a little mistake on the 12th fret inlay. But I will recover from this. I have an idea ;) !!! I’m taking my time on this one !!
Beautiful! What woods did you use for the neck and body?
Thank you 🙏! I used walnut for the neck and fretboard. For the body I used espave wood and a flame maple top!
Killer work! I really need to redesign my router sled setup to be like yours. Cheers
Thanks my friend!! It need some improvement 😅! I should dedicate a complete weekend to jig making…. But building guitars are much funnier 🤣!!
like it better before the contours
I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
So you don't sand it in between coats?
No I did not sand between coats. But if I'll do this kind of neck finish, next time I would rub the neck with scotchbrite pads between each coats. But the finish is really nice and smooth in the first place!!
Nice build, wish i was this good at building guitars😢 Also what did you use a coating? because to me it seems like clearcoat, but i am not sure
Thanks!! For the clear coat, I used wipe on polyurethane. That's giving a shine to the body !!
Jumbo stainless.
Yes these are jumbo frets but I'm using nickel/silver on this build! It is hard to work with stainless and very time consuming !
@@sebsguitarworkshop is it too hard to easily work?
@@HKTimbo It's workable. but much harder than nickel frets. It's the leveling process and polishing that are much longer to achieve!!
@@sebsguitarworkshop that’s good to know. Thanks for taking the time to reply 👍🏻
Great idea using the marker pen to check the fret heights. Awesome build 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!! I took this idea from a lot of other luthiers and youtubers!!
Awesome work!
Thank you so much 😊!
Loved that you explain your steps, expecting more of that!
Thank you for the feedback! I'll make sure to include more step-by-step explanations in future videos.
Cool build!
Hey, thanks for checking out my build! Glad you liked it. :)
Love the simplicity of the look :) I always love a good 7 string with fishman fluence moderns in them Just wondering did you glue the nut in later?
Thank you for the kind words!! Yes I Glued the nut right after I checked it was properly fit on the neck!! :)
@@sebsguitarworkshop yeah okay cool :) i was slightly worried you left it unglued after checking it 😂 But yeah definitely a beautiful guitar, keep up the great work :))
@@thingsandstuff4900 It's hard to show everything it takes to make a guitar in a youtube video!!! It's a 40 min video and I barely scratch the surface of how to build a guitar 😅
This is how a guitar building video should be made. No talking just building
Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!
A thing of beauty is a joy forever
It sure is! Beauty has a way of bringing joy to our lives.
What grit did you sand your top down to before staining?
I sanded it to 320 grits before staining !
@@sebsguitarworkshopanything past 220 is overkill for staining tbh. At that point the saw dust gets so fine that it starts filling in the little gaps in the wood and makes the stain penetrate less. It came out amazing nonetheless
Looks nice! I like the Spraymax 2k poly with a well ventilated space. Mohawk Modified Tung Oil is solid too.
Thanks !! I wish a had a spray booth to do 2k finish!! Maybe in future builds ! 🤷🏻!
@@sebsguitarworkshop I've sprayed outside in a little pop up booth with a filter. Surprisingly no trash got in the finish.
@@piptyson5512 The only problem is that right now its below 0 celcius (or below 32F ) its winter here 😅!! But thise summer I'll be able to do something like that!!
No CNC router, no band saw, no shaper. Cheap router table, cheap jig saw. well used hand tools and amazing skills! Blown away!
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot!
Great video and great work. I'm following your construction and getting inspired to build my 7-string guitar in the future.
Thank you for your great work! I’m happy to know that you’re inspired to build your own guitar!!
Would love to do a flame maple Tele like this. I've already got the tailpiece! Sadly, I don't have a workshop.
No workshop, no problem! Just channel your inner MacGyver and start crafting that flame maple Tele in your living room. You just need some basic tools like a saw, chiesels, sandpaper and wood glue :) !!!
this is great video. i am thinking of doing the same. how is it going? looks like you have a good background in woodworking.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate your support. Woodworking has been a passion of mine for about 2 years now! For the build, its going great! It's my 4th guitar build and i'm getting better each time. Mistakes will be made but its part of the process ;) !!
amo Guitarra 🎸 e violão 🎸🥰
Haha, looks like we have a guitar enthusiast here! Don't worry, you're not alone. Guitarra and violão have stolen the hearts of many music lovers. Keep rocking!
Thanks this inspire me!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to me that my video was able to inspire you.
Hello, so you dont need an finish to the neck , just the oil will work to seal out any moisture? thanks
The oil will make a smoother finish to the touch. It will seal the wood but it will wear down more quickly.. so you’ll have to do it again in a few years. I’m always trying to try other methods to finish neck but so far this is my favourite!
U so talented keep it up !!
Thank you so much :) !!! Hope you enjoy the rest of the build !
