I Played Lethal Company With An AI
After making a Lethal Company AI that can do ship command in my last video. It is now time to test it by playing a full game with it. The goal will be to beat 10 quotas. How many quotas do you think I'll beat?

AI Learns To Play Lethal Company

I taught an AI to do the ship command role in Lethal Company. The AI mans the terminal to view the map, and communicate all the information to me. It can also counter outdoor enemies like dogs and giants. At the end, me and the AI play a full game to see how many quotas we can get. Interesting concept, but difficult execution. Consider the following: instead of transmitting verbally. Use Audio queues. its sonarr my dude. Have a loud metal ping when the audio starts, and then depending on distance to object a quieter "reflection" metal pong. Overlay that with a "radiation" static noise for distance to monsters, as they get closer the static gets louder. Trying to focus on the info coming in verbally is almost impossible. Its like trying to talk to somebody and solve a puzzle.
Do you need a second lethal copy for this

for voice based improvements: represent the location of a target (enemy, or loot) with an ascending tone for left, ascending tone for right. at the same time, a monotone beep which gets faster when you are closer. when facing the target, the tone stops. might overstimulate some people but if you learn it, it is a constant source of information that would be much more accurate. would have to increase the rate at which screenshots are taken in order to make it work but it would probably be a functional hack at that point your text based version works really well though. could add some commands for things like teleporting you out, closing the ship door, and things like that.

I'm usually against using AI for many things, (Including bad things) but this is a pretty unique way of using AI for a game.

For the first method, i think it could still work if the AI could instead "group" close clusters of items and enemies and just give info on the nearest group, enemies first if any. If all fails, just communicating the closest piece of loot might also work, bringing it closer to the hot/cold mechanic, while still being able to warn about enemies! On a more advanced note, if the snapshotting was more frequent (while keeping communications at the same frequency), it could be pretty cool for the AI to watch the enemies and try to guess what they are depending on their behaviour, or maybe communicate said behaviour, like "run" if it's chasing you or "stationary" if the enemy doesn't move, like the ceiling centipedes :D (But for that you probably need to keep track of the map too to get their relative movement since the map moves with the player XD)

Cool. .. .. What's the point? I mean I usually play games myself, to entertain myself, I have no idea why make an AI that plays a game. P.s. having it communicate the number of monsters close by via radio is almost as freaky as weeping angels using radio to talk to Doctor Who.

Ok love the bot and I’d love to use it tho I think I’d go insane by the constant noise, if only it could tell when you’ve picked up the item so it’s registered that you know it’s there, seems like no matter how much you evolve the ai there’s just some things that only humans can do

Impressive work
Now this is nice and all, but this is effectively just making a second account to watch the screen for you, which if you just pulled up the screen on a second monitor or just tabbed out to look at every now and again it would flat out be objectively better. Seems a bit pointless to me. I think there are some cooler ideas that could be done with one example to create a bunch of dummy accounts that can't do anything other than move in the four cardinal directions to scan out the map as much as possible really quickly and then using the data they collect to visualise as much of the map as possible without going there yourself. Getting the AI to be as efficient as possible at scanning out the map as quickly as possible could be an interesting concept.

its always nice to see ai being made to support games, only the olden day games had bot support. interesting to see an ai made for games that dont have them built. personally i would have prefered ai tell me if items and enemies are nearby instead of hot cold or number method, simple is always better.
