Love that your vids have popped back in my feed now SB is alive again :D
I poked around in the test universe a little bit. Need to get my feet wet again. So nice to have updates again!
@@swemoney Sweet! There are a few of my mates who are waiting just a little bit longer. Then we will resume moon mining operations :) Hope to see you online 🖖
im just tiring to set up a scanner for the first time this riley helped me out as i dint even no how to use the u tool right or set up a button not sure if i needed the yolo but i did it any way i learned a lot watching this TY i know its old video but glad its still up ty again
That's so awesome to hear! I'm glad you got a lot out of it! When in doubt, you always need more YOLOL! ;)
your voice is so calming!!! love the video keep up the good work ❤❤❤❤❤
This game looks soo fun
If you're into simulator style games like this it's so oddly satisfying! Recommended!
Do you have any old BP/ Blueprints. I can have thank you. Love your videos
Everything I did was modifying the starter laborer so I never had any blueprints.
Ok, cool. If you ever need some. I have some. I give them out for free. Whenever they were decide to come back. Thank you
Are you ever coming back to Starbase?
🤷🏻♂️ Maybe one day when the devs actually show me the game isn't dead. For now there's not a lot of reason to come back. I hope that day does come though!
Every now and then I go looking for a first playthrough of CS just to see someone else enjoy the blind fumbling and repeated deaths of the early game. I somehow missed this one but it's everything I wanted
😃 Promo-SM
I had no idea that this was a sequel to another game. Great series, really needed this to wrap my head around the concept
Both great games! Glad you enjoyed the series!
1/ 400 yikes
I joked about it happening one 2 many times I guess 😫
Hey man, just starting the game behind everyone else and your vids have helped teach me shipbuilding. Thanks!
A better solution to the problem is by putting the stow hold item inside an if hands full, and the retrieve inside if hands empty. Also increases work speed.
Definitely another good solution but you'd need to start stockpiling tools in boxes so you're not waiting for a second tool to be made just to put it in your backpack. I haven't had any tool throughout issues yet with my current Twitch play through but if I do decide to start putting tools in boxes and grabbing them from there I'd definitely switch to holding extra tools in my backpack for sure.
YO SWEMONEY! Yo, bro, I'm gonna need you to update these videos. You're content is the only reason I knew how to play Starbase. Now they've changed things. I don't know how to play it anymore.
I'm glad I could help! We're probably in a similar boat right now! I really need to get in and see what's all new and make some updated videos but I just had my second child a couple months ago so things are still a bit hectic and time is limited. With the game on life support right now, I'm still weighing how much time I can dedicate to making new videos (when that time frees up, that is). I've kept my ear to the ground and I THINK the only thing that would prevent my current ship from working right would be the need for heat sinks now. If you slap some heat sinks on the ship (I think they need to be hooked up to pipes), things should work. I'm not sure how many you might need though so you might need to do some experimenting. I'll definitely update in some way when I figure it all out, though.
I know this is a year late but you can set custom names/ values using yolo by saving FcuForward to what ever variable you want, throttle, thrust, w/e. Then name the screen/ button the new variable. This requires a yolo chip and has a delay based on the yolo chips execution speed but will work for literally anything without tampering with the initial variables.
I think the issue I was having renaming it was just a weird issue that might have been resolved since then by now. On the surface, it should have been that easy but any time I tried, the ship just didn't respond to keybinds for FcuForward anymore so it was just easier at the time to leave it as is. Appreciate the comment!
And why, if you don't mind me asking, do you program the entire builder army by example, when you could easily transfer the pattern from bot to bot with the floppy disk? Then edit the source location for each ingredient in every builder's script and you're all set. And once you have a builder for each component required, order the database and use it for any further builders. You can even transfer the floppy contents into the database. sorry, I can't help myself. If you find me annoying, feel free to ignore and delete my suggestion. I won't mind. I only want to share what I just found and figured to be really useful.
That's a great question and suggestion. I'm not going to lie, I just never looked at the go to and take from instructions close enough to notice the target buttons for both of them. The builder programs are so simple I just reprogram them from scratch but it definitely is easier to just copy them and switch the targets. I also never played around with the Bot Database at all in the original Autonauts so now that I'm getting to know it better in PirateBots, I might modify some of my techniques going forward. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for your kind response, @@swemoney I bet you will change many of your old ways when you begin to realise just how different this new edition really is. Keep an open mind and don't hold on too fast to your trusted techniques.
That's a great idea, I probably would've missed the floppy disc without this comment, thanks!
I don't know if you still play Starbase, but there are some new features that have come out. I've LOVED your series and made almost all the modifications to my laborer! It's been an eye opener to see how far you can modify things! Thank you very much for this series, I do hope you come back to Starbase and do a little with the newer stuff.
Appreciate your kind words! Sadly, I burned myself out on Starbase pretty good doing this series and haven't been back yet. I saw the new update released though and have been thinking of some new videos I could do with the fancy new stuff. Hopefully I find some time to do that soon!
@@swemoney I can understand getting burnt out on games. Especially after putting a lot of hours into it, which I’m sure the videos must’ve taken. I do hope that maybe you recover from burnout someday and come back though, as I did really enjoy the learning aspect of these videos! Even before this last one, where you made the progress bar, I did something similar making a text readout of the fuel rods / 1000 so all 5 could appear on the screen at once. Was a fun little exploration of yolol for me! Thanks for all the inspiration and hope to see more from you again soon!
@@FlashAM1024 can't wait to play with the new fancy huge screens!
@@swemoney Yeah, I had my eye on those and have seen those in some vids, but haven’t touched them yet. I’d like to get waypoints for the ISAN working, and change the material screen to display both (for asteroids) at the same time instead of going from one to the other. Lot of plans!! Haha. I’d like to add more thrusters for a faster speed, and try the new speedometer module as well. As I said a lot of plans!!
Hey, I had this issue of my ship disappearing and don’t worry you will get it back. Just contact the devs from f1
Boy do I wish it was that simple. After multiple reports via F1, they finally responded by telling me they couldn't recover the ship and giving me some resources to make up for the extra effort i put into the ship. Luckily I had a slightly more frankensteined version I used to test all my tweaks on Twitch and I had done most of them at least a few times so I was able to somewhat recreate the ship. Appreciate the suggestion though!
Oh it was probably easy for me because I bought the ship and didn’t build off it, sorry for your loss
Can’t seem to get the display to do the % everything else seems to work but the % screen
The battery percent should be pretty straight forward. As long as you have the same YOLOL code as in this video and you modified the same fields on the memory chip, battery and screen to be the same it should show a percent of your total battery power with a single decimal place after. What does you battery screen show?
Hi, I am trying to add turtle mode to my trident version one and it’s just making it constantly slow can you help me?
Sadly, I have no experience with that ship so I wouldn't be able to help there. The only thing you can do it verify the generators and buttons are named correctly and the yolol code is changed to accommodate whatever might be different on that ship. Good luck!
I use your AAS system on my ship and it works great. I have been trying to get the AASU, AASD, AASL, AASR ranges to show on a text panel, but my understanding of yolo is horrible. would you have a suggestion or even be able to tell me what the code should be. For my text panel I have labeled it "Distance to Object" I am writing my yolo on a new chip separate from the AAS chip. I would like the text panel to show the distance when any of the AASU or AASD or AASL or AASR values becomes active/ comes in contact with an object to cause the AAS to perform its function. Would you have any sugestions?
Sure. I haven't been in game in a while but I jotted down this code that might work for you or hopefully give you a general idea of how to do that. It could be written better I'm sure but try something like this... rg=1000 a=(:AASR<rg)+(:AASL<rg)+(:AASU<rg)+(:AASD<rg) IF a>0 THEN GOTO 3 ELSE GOTO 1 END IF :AASR<rg THEN :DTO=:AASR GOTO1 END IF :AASL<rg THEN :DTO=:AASL GOTO1 END IF :AASU<rg THEN :DTO=:AASU GOTO1 END IF :AASD<rg THEN :DTO=:AASD GOTO1 END The first line should check all the sensors are less than the target range (rg). If any of the sensors are less than the target range, (that sensor<rg) will equal 1 so on line to we check if a is greater than 0 which means at least one of the sensors has to be less than 0. Then line's 3-6 check each sensor to see if that's the one that's triggered and sets the screen (I called it DTO here) to the range from the sensor. Hopefully that gives you a general idea!
@@swemoney I tried the Script and id did not function, but I thought about it and what I was looking for was the text display to show the distance to the object that the ranger finders saw. So i changed the First line to this rg=1000 a=(:AASR<rg) OR (:AASL<rg) OR (:AASU<rg) OR (:AASD<rg) and it worked. So thank you again for your help I really Appreciate it. Your Awesome!
@@joesgoingfishing3568 glad it worked out! I didn't test it at all so I knew something would be wrong with it of course. :P But I'm glad it set you in the right direction.
Great job. Those vidz could be LONGER. Keep doing the grate job you are doing ;)
I kind of went into this series trying to keep the videos short since most of the other tutorials when I was doing these were all at least 30+ minutes. Thanks for all the kind words!
I'm going to demolish my STARTER SHIP ;) Thanks for the VIDZ!
Great VIDZ dude ;) Keep going ;)
Very good VIDZ DUDE ;) I learned more from your first 4 VIDZ than from HOURS of others ;) Keep doing the good JOB ;)
I'm glad they helped you out so much! That's awesome to hear!
@@swemoney The best dude, keep doing what you are doing but SLOWER. You are also very GOOD at YOLOL coding, I'm at 16th vid of yours, but I must look at them again with calm :) Great GUIDES for a great game ;)
Great VIDZ dude ;)
Thanks!
@@swemoney The best dude, the best. It would be PERFECT if the VIDZ would be longer like 15 mins, but even like this, you made a HUGE favor to the game and to the newcomers/noobz like me. Also, I like A LOT that you IMPROVED the BASIC ship instead of PROPOSING a new model that you built as others. You are more like LET'S PLAY TOGETHER than I'M THE BEST PLAYER OF YOU ALL. That gives you a LOT of honor in your content creation ;) Keep doing the GOOD JOB DUDE ;)
Thank you so much for these! Priceless! The only thing that I and some others would have liked better is a slower phase or pauses on transitions to next actions. But these are done and still your videos are the best of the best!
Thank you! I do agree that pacing was an issue in some of my videos. I just had so much I wanted to cram into these without making them super long. It'll definitely help influence my next series.
This is by far the best tutorial series there is. I keep coming back every time I get a new ship and want to customize it to my liking. The best yolo code too.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you're getting a lot of use out of them! Can't wait to bring more!
i did what the video said step by step and for some reason my ship wont charge the batteries while im flying it will deplete them very quickly and i cant fly after that until they recharge. any idea why they arent recharging while flying? i set them to 80 and im still having the issue.
Is there a chance you've turned the main generator button off? I've done this a bunch of times and it's always a face palm while I'm wondering why everything is draining so much. You'll also want to verify that your generator button's ButtonOfState is named Generator and your generator's FuelChamberUnitRateLimit is also named Generator.
@@swemoney it seems i just had to wait for the generator to charge up alittle before taking off it works fine now.
My Labourer has now glitched and easy built seems to be unable to work after i added non module parts, now all my items cant snap, any idea how to resolve?
I'm not sure if there is a way to fix that. I believe they mentioned attaching non-module parts to your ship would make it not work in easy mode anymore in a previous patch notes a while back. Sadly. Might need to just redo the repair tutorial and start fresh.
@@swemoney I have done that remedy and it still do not work
I touched on this in episode 1. I'm not sure it still applies but you could try and get a new laborer a few times and then try switching between those new laborers until one of them works.
@@swemoney ahh but alot of resources was put into that glitched labourer, and i cannot take the parts out
@@zediknight yup. I feel that. When my laborer went "poof" and vanished I wasn't super happy either but such is life in early access. Definitely send an F1 lost ship request to the devs and see if they'll give you some of those resources back. They eventually gave me some stacks of ore to help me rebuild when I lost my ship. I don't recommend using modules or easy build at all after that initial storage and engine upgrade in episode 1.
This broke my Generator button. Now it has no impact on generator power output.
Hah, the issue was that the Yolol was not cabled to network correctly.
Haha. Glad you got it sorted out! I don't think I could count high enough to count the number of times I've forgot to connect something.
Tried this code on a custom ship with a similar placement, but it was buggin out. AAS would just not turn on my AAS and instead activate my lever to move right and up
I don't know how I missed this comment. Did you ever get this straightened out? The code should work on any ship as long as all the lasers are named AAS and you've named all of the distance fields AASU AASD AASR and AASL based on where they're located.
hack my station: E1 coming soon? :P
Haha! I definitely intend on doing some station stuff in the future but they really don't have a lot to them right now. Basically just floating safe zone storage dumps. Probably going to wait until there are some real station features I can showcase. So maybe not "soon" but sometime!
@@swemoney yeah if they push back surface mining like they did station and capitals, even your videos can't keep me playing this over new world! :P
@@kickboarder90 I've heard some great things about new world. No time or money over here right now but I hope to give it a go in the future!
@swemoney- needed a way to shutoff alarm due to huge upgrade and i had to use 2 chips to make it work and was wondering if you could help put it all on one chip! Chip1 - IF :ShipBadButton==1 Then :ShipBad=0 :ShipAlarm=0 END goto1 (shuts off alarm) Chip2 - IF :ShipBadButton==0 Then :ShipAlarm=1 END goto1 (Turns Alarm Back on)
I did this too when I was playing around with stuff. I made a button called Alarm and just changed the first line of my alarm script to IF (:Alarm AND :ShipBad) THEN GOTO2 END GOTO1 This way it always checks if the alarm button is active AND if the ship is bad before sounding the alarm You method should work too but you're fighting against the diagnostic computer because you're setting :ShipBad to 0 and then the ship diagnostic computer would find a durability error and change it back to 1. But if it works it works!
@@swemoney Yeah it works great! even though i have durability never hear a sound. just wanna save the rack space.
Bah...its me again, sorry to bug. Ok, so the change to the turtle mode works good...at first I thought it didnt work, because the FCU gauge we have up front is showing the ship is going at full 100 instead of the 15 (It showed as correct before we changed it from this video)....Am I missing something so that my progress bar works correctly and shows 15 instead of 100? Again sorry to bother you
No bother! You would kind of need YOLOL if you want the gauge to read the lower percentage. Like if you named the screen Throttle and then had a YOLOL script that just said :Throttle = :FcuForward * (:FcuGeneralMultiplier/100) GOTO1 ... that should set the throttle screen to exactly what it is with the multiplier.
@@swemoney oh thank you. I will test that out as soon as I can!
I have an idea!! LOL. For your next series, how about doing a personal station tutorial!!
I'll probably do something about making stations and capital ships in the future when they're a little more fleshed out and useful. Right now it's kind of just throwing some beams together and bolting a few workbenches down and then just using it as a parking spot or storage area. I've heard a lot of people say their ships had disappeared and they had to tow them back to origin too. Definitely something I want to do in the future though!
why doesn't work :(
Sorry you're having trouble! Best advice would be to make sure all of the fields are named correctly on all of the lasers and the YOLOL is correct. The code should be available in the description so you can copy and paste. I'm not sure what issue you're having otherwise.
@@swemoney sorry i made a mistake in the code, everything works great! 👍
@swemoney i tried to add 2 more adv turrets and lasers on the bottom same locations as top, but bottoms are slower then top i guess today make 2 more sweep and pitch chips with a refactor of code something like MineRotB etc so i can fine tune the bottoms and see if it speeds it up? Edit: NM i must have been high had speeds all wrong lmao
Haha. Glad you figured it out! Ya, all I could think about while reading your comment was the speed field on the bottom and making sure they were all the same. Good job on the upgrade! Sounds like a beast!
Thanks a lot
Thank YOU!0
fcugeneralmultyplayer - is there a list of all values for the ship? very interested in VC2 from mouse aiming mode (C button)
The Starbase wiki has a lot of information. Most items in game you can find with their fields and a description about what they do. That's where I'd start first. I'm not a huge fan of the C mouse aiming mode right now. There's going to be proper mouse support added to the game sometime later according to their roadmap so I'm kind of just waiting for that to release before playing around with mouse aiming.
@@swemoney Thank you for your reply. . I'm annoyed that such a fundamental thing as mouse control is postponed to Q4 or even 2022. I need yaw and pitch on the mouse - I've been playing Elite Dangerous for a long time. I will try to think of a script to improve the AIM in this hellish C-mode. another question: can the blast damage be reduced? i tried adding plates next to the laser gun magazine and it didn't help, or i didn't add enough.
@@ПавелКрутой-б8ф funny thing. I played a little No Man's Sky recently after spending a lot of time in Starbase and was trying to fly with Starbase controls instead of the mouse. But ya, that's why I haven't bothered tinkering with some hacky mouse control script because I know it's a planned feature that will make any effort put in obsolete when it's released. I don't have a lot of experience with any sort of weaponry yet. So I'm not sure exactly how to mitigate damage. I saw an older TH-cam video from alpha that went through an tested all the various materials and how they stood up against all the different weapon types but that might be outdated and I think the devs are still working on getting different materials into the game. Multiple plate layers is probably your best bet for right now but ultimately it'll be the material your plates are made of when that gets fleshed out a bit more.
1st i am a huge fan! I am wondering why you don't change cockpits and move everything to the square cockpit? I love that cockpit everything is off to the side add the extensions so you have a small hallway and later on fix the extensions so you no longer have a small hallway but another door and room for passenger seats. station 4 come bye see what i am talking about.
I've definitely considered doing something with the cockpit but ultimately I never did on the Laborer because I couldn't really think of any "new" things I would be able to showcase aside from just a different look. And the logistics of cramming all that work into a 10 minute tutorial was terrifying. :p
My Labourer looks nothing like this on the side for some reason? It seems all mismatched Edit: I figured it out. My L-Shaped Crate Placement was jank, but using this guide I still managed to do it myself and plate it up, albeit, uneven and ugly as only 1/4th of the area actually had a long plate like the 4 shown in the box thruster part of the video
I'm glad you figured it out! Plating was one of the most challenging things to convey in these tutorials. And it always relied on every other episode being carried out exactly which became harder as the series went on. Happy you made it work, though!
@@swemoney its funny, because with the plating I had to work with they were the large squares (probably the ones on the edge of your ship bottom and top) and those made Hard point access very clean, for the side of my ship that only had those
Just binged the whole serious. Awesome work man. Wish I came across the series earlier.
Thanks for watching!
I can not seem to get the YOLOL box to cable to the grid. Any thoughts?
One mistake I make rather often actually is realizing I forgot to bolt something down before wiring it with cable. So make sure the socket is bolted down before using the cable tool. Then you should be able to just use the cable tool and it'll snap into the circle holes on each side and then run it to an exposed duct. The cable just needs to touch the duct and it should transfer the power to the socket. Just snap a YOLOL chip into it and make sure it says it's online and you should be good. You'll also see the green number on the left moving down each line which says that it does have power.
i can only think of one other cool thing to add. and that would be an autopilot button. you set a gps point as where you want to go, then hit the button to go there. with a good enough asteroid avoidance you can easily set it to go wherever you have a gps marker for.
This isn't a bad idea. There are a couple of autopilot systems out there already. The math is kind of over my head but I'll definitely be looking into it at some point.
Best tutorial series for Starbase, Thanks.
Thank you!
Thanks for putting in the effort of introducing and explaining the coding side of the game. There really isn't anything online of people who explain why this means that or why we do this in yolol
I'm glad my code rambling made sense to you! I'll definitely be doing more YOLOL specific tutorials on a more basic level in the future.
Well shooooot. No more to do. This makes me sad as I’ve really enjoyed your tutorials Gonna miss seeing what other cool things you could add but understand there isn’t much you can do to it. Well hopefully whatever you do next will be just as awesome. Cheers and thanks for doing these videos.
