no comments so far? but surely this is a great little video showcasing the watercress line!
3:39 a best moment: "Look, a ghost is coming!" :))
Hope restoration goes ok 👍🚂
Brilliant!
I really enjoyed this mix of traction and looking back. Thanks
A great montage of historical workings on the Mid Hants. Great footage as always. Thank you for sharing 😊
They should of been put into a museum or on a heritage railway or ff just send them up north we always end up with the older transport anyways Theres a museum in a place called Shildon they most likely would of taken them if someone asked them they took a pacer in before they wouldn't hesite taking 80+ year old trains
Fantastic bit of film.
Thank you

Brilliant job!
Will this be running this year I’m often at the mid Hants line ,I’d love to record some sound of this for my layout
Hi we are currently raising funds to bring 1125 back into service
I like the fireman in a white shirt :)) It's a heritage railway (speed no more than 25 mph)!
Benny Hill helping the fireman!
I would love to see 34058 Sir Frederick Pile in working order one day. Hopefully, it will be mainline certified
When will 34058 Sir Frederick Pile be in working order?
you can watch the progress on the Southern Locos website
Will 34058 Sir Frederick Pile be mainline certified?
im unsure what Southern Locos plans are
Is this rail line along the Loch Ness? Across the body of water are some mountains; I feel like those are the Scotland Highlands.
It is the Scottish Highlands but not Loch Ness, it is where some of Harry Potter was filmed
@@Altondigitalimage Yes, I recognize the stone bridge. Chamber of Secrets had some filming there; you know, the scene where the Hogwarts Express surprises Ron and Harry from behind?
Very enjoyable video. Must say, "The English Steam locomotives are very nice looking locomotives".
My late uncle used to work on the station here(not sure if he was the station master),and I would loved to have seen him at work. That was in the late 60s early 70s xx
You have a pleased look on your face Martin.
That will be a very very useful loco..for the Mid Hants..Powerful enough for their work.
Awkward
Apologies 🤣
Love that you’ve used RML2699 as the main picture. Many Thanks to Go Coach for allowing me to take their bus to ImberBus
Very glad this gets reenacted. Very interesting time in English history thats underrated
Sad to see the state some of them got left in, beautiful trains they don't mnake trains that look like that anymore
rad
Cool
Having walked along what is now a pedestrianised area, it was very interesting seeing it in use as a railway - thank you!
I would love to see 34058 Sir Frederick Pile in steam someday when he is restored from scrapyard condition to his rebuilt condition and I would love to see him run on the mainline network in the UK.
When will 34058 Sir Frederick Pile be in steam?
work is progressing well the boiler has now been removed
What about 34073 249 Squadron? I know that 34073 249 Squadron is awaiting restoration and is acting as a donor locomotive to 34067 Tangmere
👍👍👍❤🤍💚

great video, nice to see loco in action at night
2:18 ratcliffe power station nice video keep it up 👍
Thanks, will do!
😮😮😢
Okay 👌
That’s all Manston give it back to Swanage when you’re finish with Manston
I'm not sure where it's going next, but it doesn't belong to swanage
To think, there are enough Bulleid Pacific's surviving today, that if all restored, could easily run main line trains services from Waterloo to Exeter and Bournemouth again!
I also made a video on my TH-cam channel of the Thumper heading into Alresford to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closure of the Watercress Line. In fact, you can see me at 8:58 standing next to my father, admiring this moment.
What happened to the fireman side regulator handle. Poor camera work too
LOL good job your Opinion isn't important x
One of the finest sounds in the world is that of a black 5 working hard. We have 45428 at the NYMR . The sound of her pulling up the 1 in 49 from grosmont to gothland is stunning. The sound of the whistle echoing across the moors makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
Even though, it is preserved, it still has to be restored for future mainline operations
Very unlikely that it will ever go mainline
The UK is the envy of many countries that are trying to preserve their railway history In my country it is extremely difficult to bring a locomotive back to steam a lot of government interference to go through yet you have so many people involved in the restoration of steam locomotives good on you mate
Can't thank all of the people who band together to save these locos and rolling stock for heritage railways. Bless you all ❤😊
Personally I have always thought that the "rebuilt" version looked much better. The so called stream lining was a fiasco and helped by 0% at best. Merchant Navy Class, Battle of Britain Class and West Country Class please explain which is which. I know each had different weight and boiler sizes but help.
Battle of Britains and West Countries are the same locomotives. The only difference was the naming. Locomotives named after RAF Squadrons or important figures such as 257 Squadron or Sir Frederick Pile were considered to be Battle of Britain Class, and locomotives named after West Country places like Barnstaple and Ottery St Mary were considered to be West Country class. Mechanically they were identical. Worth noting that Wikipedia answers all of this for you: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR_West_Country_and_Battle_of_Britain_classes
Good channel, I subscribed as your 1000 Sub!
Thanks for the sub!
i have been to the yard at sellindge many times i can confirm this loco will be sat there with all the other coaches and other locos rotting away in the middle of the scrapyard
Thanks to Mike V for saving her and his donating to MHRly. May he RIP in the knowledge of an assured future for his loco, at last. Richard T.
Hi Rich. No bleeding E hear. Fantastic work as always on the Midhants. I watch from afar....
Ah! I can see now why the caution. No buffered or coupling. Tricky to say the least.
Er that should have been to Rich Bentley...
Best wishes for the project!
