Way ahead of it's time. Just compare that profile to any current e bike!
Hi, noticed that your seat belt linkage is just back from the door window. How did you attach it? My 65 saloon does not have a hole?
Hi it was there when I bought the car. I have had the bolts out when I tidy up my floors and sills (other vid). I think there was must be a big captive nut welded in there somehow.
Sand the rim with a low grit sandpaper to make the outside really Ruth will increase friction
@@stampydragon2739 yes work a bit better after sanding rim thanks!
@@timsbobs7774 it's a trick they used to use on motorcycle conversions back in the early days when they strapped engines to bicycles
Kool-stop brakes work better. Usually cost more too!
My Morris Minor is also good at going up hills. That 'A' series engine is so torque!
Is there some residue from the old brake blocks on the rim? Looks like there might be at 0:29. Perhaps rubbing with some fine sandpaper might remove it and improve the rim surface friction. Perhaps a tiny amount of Isopropanol Alcohol might also help remove any grease from the rim.
Thanks yes I’ll try that good idea!
Don't expect much from the front brake. It's an utterly awful single pivot calliper operating on a tiny plastic wheel. I actually think they designed it to be weak, because when it does bite (on a slippy surface for example), the loss of steering control is far more terrifying than the lack of braking power! Especially as the rear brake only acts on the offside wheel and has a tendency to make you drift towards oncoming traffic when applied!
Kool-stop should be better, they cost more too.
£75 in my local Comet by 1987.
For the C5 brake blocks, Clarks CP600 Bike Brake Pads from Halfords would do the job. They've got a soft-ish compound for BMX bikes, that's suitable for the plastic rims. £3.99 A more premium option would be Kool Stop Composite Continental. They are designed for composite plastic rims, £25 from AlansBMX. The front brake on the C5 is not great though, only there to keep the bike legal. Generally, most of the braking should be done on the rear hub brake.
Thanks that is a great tip. I will try those blocks. The front brakes are adjusted Ok but just don’t seem to grip at all. Sure they were better before so hopefully those blocks help. Thankyou!
Thanks. Still a bit scared to take it on so will probably get a quote from someone.
Had mine off a fair few times now, the chrome hocky stick trim parts are the most annoying, you have to reach in from around the front wheels to get to tiny nuts. Rest of it isn't too bad, I usually drain the radiator and just disconnect the hoses and leave it bolted in. The starter dog / lower pulley did need a big impact gun to get off, and had to buy a deep socket for it. That was the hardest part of doing the timing chain for me.
Although I have never needed to start my Moggie with the handle, I gave it a try... No chance! I lengthened the leverage and the length of the handle. I now have a greater leverage to turn the engine over and can easily get two hands on the handle. It's now easy to start!
@@kevracer3980 It’sinfuriating that some people just seem to have the knack! You’ve inspired me to give it another try sometime though.
@@timsbobs7774 Modify the handle, to give you more leverage. I think the compression has been raised on my Moggie, which makes it difficult to turn the engine fast enough to start.
You left a little oil on your mum's lovely block paved driveway 🤪
@@taks8439 ah ha yes she didn’t seem to mind too much though 😀
The C5 - Flawed but fabulous!
Thank you! Great video and I love the paint on your Moggy! 🤩
Thanks! You haven’t seen the paint close up though!😅
🎉Perfect 🎉cheers 🥂
I liked this video
Thanks! Much appreciated 😀
Great video as always
That looked like a nice relaxing break
Nice job and Bob approves. Enjoy. All the best Bob (Really it is Bob)
Wonderful! Thank you.
A perfect outing! Great video.
Before the red double decker bus came into view, I was wondering where this was.
@@wortelsorbet yes I deliberately made sure there were some double deckers in there in the edit! A lot of views. People seem to like it when I drive up a hill.
How did you create the last section of the video? Did you have a helper who held the camera, so that it was not stolen?
@@wortelsorbet just someone else I met up there who kindly took it on his phone. Had lots of people come and talk to me whenever I parked up.

Despite what you tell people in your (interesting) videos you did not upgrade your battery to a "lithium polymer" battery. It's an Eco Worthy LiFePO4 Lithium Battery ... which is a lithium iron phosphate chemistry (lithium ion) battery. There are various chemistries of lithium ion batteries that are in use nowadays and LiFePO4 is one of them. It is regarded as one of the safer variants of lithium ion and also tends to do well in terms of the number of charging cycles so is long lived.
It's a Lithium iron phosphate battery. That's not a lithium polymer battery. It's a lithium ion battery chemistry variant.
You have a lithium iron phosphate battery ... i.e. a lithium ion battery. It's not a lithium polymer battery. Lithium ion batteries are commonly used in electric vehicles whilst lithium polymer batteries are generally the small battery you may have in a phone.
My grandad got a medal for cycling up muswell hill in 1907.
I'm planning on going camping with my 2 children as they have never been before. I was thinking of getting a cheap 4 person tent to try out first at a local campsite to see if they like the experience. This video has really inspired me. Thanks.
That’s great. I usually take my 2 boys up to that campsite but wanted to try the tent out before some trips we’ve got planned in the summer. Hope you have a great time camping!
@@timsbobs7774 Thank you 😊
“I think I can, I think I can, . . . .” “I knew I could, I knew I could, . . . !”
looks like a relaxing little campsite , tent looks great so does your moggy 👍
Just went to the Nordisk website. Lots of tent types, and great how-to-assemble videos, too. The Ydun looks to be a well-made, useful tent. After some use of it, you might want to comment.
Yes it’s great so far. I’ll be using it a bit more with the family over the summer so will update.
Wonderful! The tent seemed to go up without any need for instructions.
In fact I’d watched a video how to put it up though it was quite easy!
Very nice, and useful, too!
Very useful and well put together. Out of interest - what socket sizes did you use for the filter and sump plug?
@@life952 3/4 for the sump and 1/2 for the filter I think
Awesome vintage automotive show. Thanks for sharing this.😊
Mine fits just as imperfectly as yours, but -as you say- you don't notice until you take things apart!
Best idea yet of to the pub.
I test rode one in 1985 Absolutely ridiculous design to Low to be seen in traffic... no standing on the Pedals due to Seating and Handlebar positions. poor Suspension on Plastic Wheels It was a design disaster.
I think the design is great for the cost spec and time it was made. It’s just the marketing that was a total disaster. It’s a super fun fine weather vehicle rather than for daily commuting on busy roads. The only upgrades I’ve done are chunkier tyres which helps the ride and lithium battery which greatly increases range and boosts speed. Most common response I get from people when I’m driving it around is “where can I buy one!” So maybe it was just 40 years too early.
