I didn't finish college, but I see people out here with master degrees in engineering working alongside me and making the same or less money than I do.

Can you explain then why after having chosen a field, worked to gain the skills for that industry, only to be denied by said industry. “Go to school they said, it leads to a good job they said” What about when no one is hiring? Do I choose another career? Halp 😅

Good Morning Helena, Thanks for this information. I've been doing as you've stated and am finding it hard to get back into the administrative field after being a care giver for so many years. My Microsoft Office skills need improvement and I've been practicing to regain what I lost after not using it for so long. I'm not giving up through. I am glad you brought this up. HR is doing exactly what it was created to do. HR is the administrative and workforce management arm of a company. It is best to handle soft skills matters within the team and document everything for clarification (members fade fast). If the situations escalate, this gives HR insight into the history. By having this proof HR can make the best solution for the COMPANY.

Sounds like “some people” built their lifestyles to the point they no longer have the monthly budget for commuting to work. If you really want to keep the job you like you may need to make some sacrifices

Yes I agree 💯 % I had to leave a temp to hire position for this very reason. I live 30 miles away from the job and was told hybrid would be considered then the owner changed his mind. It was costing me $400 a month on fuel 😮 to drive in 5 days a week. I just couldn't do it anymore not to mention losing 2 hours of my life in commuter traffic. It's insane that the pandemic showed us a different way and so many people insist that we ALL need to go back to the office. Some people are better producers working from home. But back to your point, fell behind on one of my financial obligations because that $400 in fuel for the commute was a big hit that I was willing to take on the premise that I would be allowed to work hybrid. Despite my expertise and that I was appreciated, the hybrid thing seemed to create mistrust and the owner wouldn't budge just kept digging their heels harder the more I explained the pro vs cons. The reason was " I just want the person in this seat". 🙄

I've seen both sides. HR ripped my boss a new one when he repremanded me after I was threatened by another employee in front of five witnessses. And I do mean SHREDDED. As in, he was calling me to apologize within 3 minutes of getting off the phone call, because it was very clear I was prepared to set up a hositle work environment suit and with five witnesses, I would have cost the company millions. I was promoted shortly thereafter and someone complained about me to HR (I had over 20 documented tardies with no explanation and all but one of the of the write ups were issued with other people present and with upper management's involvement- he wasn't getting out of anything). He was initially going to be reassigned but then he sent me harrassing text messages and was let go completely. The bottom line is what she said. HR is there to protect the company. If you have witnesses willing to go on record and have a paper trial, they will take your side because the alternative is an exceptionally expensive lawsuit on their hands. But if its your word against there's you are getting nowhere and they'll flag you as a trouble maker moving forward and try to manage you out.
