Maidenhead Salvation Army is a family of people from all walks of life who are being transformed by Jesus Christ. Every week, we join together in-person in East Road, SL6 1PJ and online to worship God and to experience positive, practical encouragement from a message that teaches us truths from the Bible. We are passionate about sharing the love of Christ with each other and by reaching out to our community in practical ways.
We exist to worship God; to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to bring people into a relationship with Him by the power of the Holy Spirit and to reach out to the community through a caring ministry.

I thought gluttony was a sin?
I was informed by a Salvation Army Soldier, now a prominent figure in the organisation, that in order to join, you had to be invited directly by God. I wonder if this is still the case? I'd ask him, but we've lost touch.
That’s not a proposition I have ever heard in over 50 years in The Salvation Army.
@@RobWestwoodPayne It was about 40 years ago, and the officer was in his late teens at the time. He now commands a great many soldiers. I've believed him ever since, viewing the Salvation Army as an exclusive club given the authorisation required to apply for membership. I'm interested to know how the invitation is transmitted. There was no internet or social media then and available forms of communication were letter, telegram, telephone, (mobile telephones were a fledgling concept), and two way radio. Whenever I see Salvation Army officers I'm intrigued as to who among society are chosen by the Lord to don the uniform, they just seem like normal people to me. But it is often said that the Lord moves in mysterious ways. Thank you for your answer.
