Seeing Sunset BLVD on Broadway! Our Theatrical Adventures in New York City!
มุมมอง 99หลายเดือนก่อน
On December 11th, My friend Chris and I went to New York City to celebrate his birthday, by seeing Sunset BLVD on Broadway. It turned out to be a very special day. We saw an incredible show, shared some absolutely iconic moments, and made memories that will last forever. Both of us are theatre nuts, and it was my first time ever seeing a show on Broadway! So we decided to bring you along with u...

Not Just Yesterday: The Ballad of Tam Lin Revisited
มุมมอง 2804 หลายเดือนก่อน
Happy Roddy day everyone! In honor of what would have been Roddy McDowall's 96th birthday today, I felt it was fitting to revisit episode 6 of Not Just Yesterday and cover Roddy's single directorial effort, starring his friend Ava Gardner and Ian McShane, "The Ballad of Tam Lin." This project was so close to Roddy's heart, and I hope you will enjoy hearing of all the ups and downs and ins and o...

This is just a taste of what will be to come in the future for the Old Hollywood Biographies series. So much more of Marilyn's life deserves to be covered, so much more of her history deserves to be unearthed. But for now, this will have to do. I hope you e...
IMDbios Episode Two - Ava Gardner
มุมมอง 3247 หลายเดือนก่อน
IMDbios Episode Two is here! This week our star is the magnificent Ava Gardner. This episode was made with information from Wikipedia, johnstoncountync.org, and recorded information from Ava's friend Roddy McDowall, due to a lack of information on Ava's actual IMDb biography page. So, this episode is a wee bit longer than planned, but I feel it does Ava the justice she deserves. This bio was ma...

Hi Y'all! I wasn't originally planning on posting this here. I made it for instagram. But since May 23rd was Rosemary Clooney's birthday, and she meant so much to me, and since she is part of Old Hollywood, I figured; why not? Its not a bio, but it's a good song and I love singing it so much. Hope you enjoy it, and your holiday weekend! Be well, and all the best! -Nasha
Unforgettable - Remembering Laura Louise
มุมมอง 4929 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video has a dual purpose, in the beginning there's a life update; but primarily this video is a memorial tribute to my grandmother and the extremely positive influence she was on my life. She would have been 101 years old in May, and her presence in my life was so important to me, so I felt I had to make a video commemorating her. I've called it "Unforgettable", because that is my grandma ...
Burn Out: What's Next?

Hello everyone! I'm alive! I'm so sorry for my ridiculously long absence. As most of you who have watched the channel prior to Halloween may be aware, I had originally planned to post during the holiday season, but found I was unable to do so due to succumbing to a serious case of burn out, which I had been powering through for over a year, much to my detriment. This burn out began early in Feb...

Old Hollywood Biographies: Episode One - Roddy McDowall
I am watching the video on the Rodney McDowell Malibu beach party. I think that is one of the most incredible videos on all of TH-cam. I think back in those years, the stars who lived in Malibu, actually lived there. Today, the stars often have many homes, and the kind of social gatherings seen on the video, are likely rare.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying Roddy McDowall’s Malibu beach party footage. I’m hearing more and more sentiments from people every day, saying it’s been a great lift to their spirits in these perilous times. I’m very happy to hear that it’s helped cheer up dimmed spirits, in a time of such uncertainty. If Roddy were with us today, I know he would be so pleased, as am I. Thank you for watching 🫶🏻
This was a great documentary!
Wow! Thank you so much! I deeply appreciate the tip, and your comment. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏻
He was the best. I watch anything with him in it. His acting was always superb. My favorite character was Peter Vincent, in Fright Night.
Agreed! Thank you for watching ☺️
Yes, I know this feeling.
🫶🏻
You belong in the Golden age of singing. In the 40’s - 60’s. Fabulous voice!!
Awww thank you so much ☺️🫶🏻
Wonderful ❤from Bonnie Scotland 🏴
Thank you! Love back from America! 🫶🏻
He was good in every film. It was great to see him in 'Evil under the Sun'. Big production, big screen presence and with so many famous greats. ❤
Wow, well done! great storytelling.
Thank you very much 🫶🏻
Natural habitat with natural movie stars, no airs and graces like today.
Yes indeed!
One last comment: With that exquisite voice of yours, and it really is special, were we in the Year of Our Lord 1955 I think the whole world would know your name.
Awww thank you, that’s so very kind of you to say. 🫶🏻☺️✨
First class pipes! Beautifully sung. I had no idea. Thank you. Given what you sang, I have to believe you're familiar with a 1957 Edsel Show hosted by Bing Crosby with musical guests Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, & Louis Armstrong. This very song was her first number that long ago October night. Bing was funny & cool, as always. Sinatra was in rare form, singing beautifully and as hip as a 41 year old can be. And of course RC did what she always did so well. There's a spectacular 50 song medley all three of them participate in that beautifully closes the TV show. One very interesting aspect is the program was sponsored by Edsel, a soon to die deeply unpopular car, & the company's desperation is easy to see in the hard selling ads. Find it on youtube.
Oh wow😍 many thanks for the compliment 🙏🏻☺️ I’m so grateful. As for the show, I am not familiar but I can’t wait to see it! Will definitely be searching up rosemary clooney on ye olde tube tonight! ✨🫶🏻
Happy Days... ALWAYS

Where are your own films? Did you release any? Lovely tribute. My grandma Gwen Nolan was born in 1925 and died in 2019 but I am much older than you-a child of the 70s. She was involved in theatre and wardrobe and my grandad was a photographer, writer. They had a huge impact on my life and choices. Good luck with your acting! 🍀🍀🍀
So far I’ve been in one short film which was released on TH-cam in November after thanksgiving; and I’m currently involved in another production. As for films I’ve done myself, they’re here on my TH-cam channel. The only one that isn’t my original work is my most recent posting of Roddy McDowall’s Malibu footage, and a radio production I posted over Christmas from family theatre that Roddy narrated.
Seems the best looking men are usually addicts and/or abusers.
I never noticed, he DOES have a thick neck!
Right? lol all the muscles, I guess?
I like to see him on screen, lovelly person.
Yes indeed!
They sound definitely like a cult. Not the Truth!!
@icedem1 You're absolutely right. The IFB has some very concerning characteristics, which is precisely what my documentary aims to reveal. It's important to bring awareness to these aspects so that others can understand the true nature of such groups and the harmful beliefs they perpetuate, and protect themselves from them as much as possible.
Society is not normal. How can we who are different, ever hope to fit into such a world. That’s why I don’t bother. Just be me!! And peaceful!!
@icedem1 Totally hear you. That's why the focus of the documentary explores my journey of breaking free from the IFB’s restrictive control and abuses, and finding a place to truly be myself within broader society, and finally find peace and healing. I also felt it was deeply important to highlight my complete removal from Christianity as a whole due to the troubling beliefs perpetuated within both it and the IFB, as they work in tandem, with many of the same ideologies. My story isn't just about embracing individuality, discovering peace, and being part of the world without needing to detach, it's also about hope, and finding escape, even when you're gaslit into believing there isn't one.
oh one more thing, i had his bio(stort form) i remember a quote "he really does,nt talk you could tell him anything and he would not tell ...Gossip Hollywood talk is what Joan rivers meant.
Yep! That’s correct!
Yes i agree, i don,t get to see many classoc movie sbut i still love him in Planet of the Apes too😍🤩
A well written, balanced, and thoroughly researched biography as well as pleasingly narrated.
Thank you so much! I deeply appreciate that, you’re very kind 🙏🏻❤️
Its sad, I had a friend who told me some horror stories about JW's to, there wasnt anything wrong with you, just these cult religious groups. I was raised Catholic, no longer practice. There is an epidemic of perversion in this country, I hope you have gotten away from these people.
Thank you <3
Thanks
Awww thank you Shane!🫶🏻

Thank you very much!❤️
One of a kind, always up to something, so talented.
Yes indeed!
Wonderful to have this biography of lovely Roddy. And rare, too. So to be saved, kept, to be watched as often as I need👌👍👏❤️
So thrilled you’ve enjoyed it! Thank you so much ❤️
I'm 58 and a life-long Roddy McDowall fan. The first roles I remember seeing him in were on Night Gallery and of course Lassie Come Home ❤. By all accounts a great human being as well. There's an incredible home movie of his on here from 1965 taken at his beach house in Malibu.
Yes I’ve seen it! The footage is wonderful! I fully agree. Roddy was a great human being and such an immense talent. I’ve been a fan my whole life as well. ❤️
@@NashaDean thank you so much for posting this! Wherever did you get all this material! You see so few biographies about Roddy McDowell and he was such an incredible talent. He was just so beloved by his friends. I love watching game shows in which he is a participant. When you watch Password, he is an amazingly good player and behaves like a gentleman to his partner contestant. He was also very humble. Lovely person.
@GiftSparks yes he was indeed! You're so very welcome, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! As for my material, I've been collecting his films for 7 years, and researching for over 5. So I had all of the material at hand. I'm so glad you enjoyed the documentary and I'm glad I could help Roddy be remembered by people the world over with his video. 😊
Happy Birthday, Chris and hello, Zoë Love! 💙🤗🤗🩵
Hello Lesley Love! 🫶🏻
Cary grant had problems
Yes, he really did.
Great actor! But why would anyone, name their son " Archibold" /. Leach ? Only English people then...i, guess! Never heard that name before ! It eas smart , who decides to change it ! Ridiculous name!
I agree his birth name was dreadful lol
WHAT A WONDERFUL VIDEO!! i never expected to find such a heartfelt and well-researched biography on someone as (unfortunately) niche as Roddy McDowall, but i'm so glad i did!! I became a fan of his around a year ago now and have been slowly chipping away at that enormous filmography of his, and my motivation's exceeded tenfold with this video!! Thank you so much for such a comprehensive video on his life... he truly was underrated and underappreciated during his time AND now, so i'm glad there's still love for him even nowadays! He may be an 'unusual' actor for someone my age to like, but i think that's just what makes him all the more special to me. Great video once again!! 🤩🫶
Wow thank you so much for your extremely kind words! I’m bowled over with gratitude! I truly am! I’m so glad my video accomplished what I had hoped for in making it. I’ve loved Roddy deeply since 2017, and at the time that I fell into his work and discovered him, there was very little of his filmography available online. It was so difficult to find his films, and mentioning his name almost always brought responses that consisted of “who?” Or “what’s a Roddy McDowall movie?!” Broke my heart. I wanted people to know how amazing he was and how important he was and still is in regards to his influence in the film preservation movement. We wouldn’t have half the movies on dvd today that we have if it weren’t for him. He was a titan of his time and I deeply miss him! I love meeting and talking to other people who are his fans. He truly left an indelible positive mark on the world, and everyone I know who was touched by him in their lives, be it in person or through his films turn out to be truly beautiful and warm people! I love how he brings so many people together! Thank you so much for watching my video, I’m so thrilled you enjoyed it. It meant the world to me to make it and put it out there for people to enjoy. The responses have all been so positive and I’m just so happy that so many have enjoyed it. Thank you again so much! 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Looking forward to the ride. Happy October.
Thank you so much! Same to you ☺️
The movie was okay, but I felt some parts were a bit long-winded. I wish there were more images from his movies.
Sorry you were disappointed, but I appreciate you watching to the end. 🙂
"Steel Eye Span" also too.
Wow I’ve never heard of them, very cool!
Fairport Convention did a song about this :) x
Ohhh very cool!
It made me cry, to have to go thru what he did, thank you mr McDowell
❤️❤️❤️❤️
My Father would see Cary Grant in movies and say to himself "I know him, but how and where from. They keep on saying he was from Bristol and I am from Southampton". Once they said his actual name was Archibald Leash, my Father recognized that he really did know him while growing up in Southampton. In all the years that I have seen and read about Cary Grant, yours is the first mention of Southampton. Thank you for confirming that what my Father said was accurate.
Awww what an awesome memory! You're so welcome!😊
ATTORE ECCEZIONALE, INSUPERABILE !!!!!!
Sono completamente d'accordo! Grazie per aver guardato! 💜💜💜
Excellent work! Wonderful research, presentation, and narration. Not only a story about Cary Grant, but about the dangers of chasing success -- and illusions -- in the 20th century.
Wow thank you so much! I’m never thought of it that way, I appreciate your insight! I’m so glad you enjoyed the biography. Many thanks 🙏🏻
Great biography. I am 61 and grew up watching Rodey McDowell. So much I didn't know about him. Thank you for such an informative biography!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Very well done. Love him .🎉❤💔🎉🕊 He was amazingly handsome.
Thank you so much!
He tried to ruin Dian like his dad ruined his mother. He was made cruel by his father, if you can call him a father. His past wives were lucky to escape him. And I hope the dtr wasn't ruined by him. I once thought what a great guy he was. not now.I would not watch any of his films now.
I agree it is definitely difficult to see him the same way after learning all I learned for this biography.
