      Yes, but it just as a thickened sticky confection, the French added the eggs/meringue to make it the spongy confection .

  • @jamdosi5942
    @jamdosi5942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not just boil the root? That would have really released the polysaccharide mucilage! Also honey was originally the "sweetener" and thickening syrup.

    I believe the missing like for health in modern society, both physical and mental, is demonstrated in the concept of marshmallow. Smores, for example, are traditionally consumed during camp outs and times outdoors, and subtle remembrances therefore of past times. Marshmallow of course being a key constituent of smores. In older times, marshmallow actually contained marshmallow root, marshmallow being a medicinal herb of renown. Snaking upon marshmallow would give you benefits that modern marshmallow sold in bulk are lacking, and in fact are unhealthy. So to is the mind of Faustian consumerism which turned the beautiful field mallow treat into the commercial product marshmallow that we know today, totally devoid of actual marshmallow. Bye, I will cry myself to sleep now.

    • @jamdosi5942
      @jamdosi5942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Start your own company! Just warning you though that marshmallow root can be expensive unfortunately but don't let that stop you from doing good! 😊 Too bad land to grow it is even more expensive! "The meek shall inherit the earth" so maybe we just need to practice being meek, have some patience and the land will be ours after all the hellbent people destroy themselves through their own pride!

      @jamdosi5942 would the common mallow that grows wild in Los Angeles work, though? I'm trying to figure out how to not waste it and to value the resource.
