Checking Out a New Batch of Self Collected, Newly Tumbled Rocks
Stunning, on the outside and inside! It looks like green jade or alabaster inside, with wonderful dark maroon patches.
it’s one of my favorites :)
What a beautiful pattern 🧩 Gorgeous find!
thank you! :)
Definitely a change of pace in the patterns!
Love the golds and the angular lines inside! Not much hint of that on the outside.
That's what I love about rocks...each is a unique surprise...nice❤
Very beautiful golden interior, even with a pinkish exterior. Beautiful golds!
Beautiful wavy stripes and an amazing red exterior!
it is a nice red!!
First one is stunning, green and dark red! #2: White outside, gorgeous white and red and gray. #3: Lumpy intrigue on the outside, the inside is a great mix of rocks and sizes. Gold and white. #4: Pink on the outside, inside - wonderful angles in the pattern. #5: Outside, love the black and pink, inside, a great dark uniform dark grey with reds. #6: My favorite outside, so many shiny colors, inside, beautiful golds and reds. #7: Shiny silver brown on the outside, and crazy lovely blue on the inside. Wonderful rocks!
thanks so much! glad you enjoyed them! i’m going to have to remember lumpy intrigue :)
❤❤❤ Looks like Mexican crazy lace agate!
it does a bit! i’d love to find some of that sometime! seems unlikely in nevada though…
Don't really know much about this type stuff, but is there any way it could be a bone?
it’s not impossible, bone can be replaced by minerals, forming a fossil, i’m going to need to get a microscope!
The red in the 1st stone looks more like arteries than veins! Love that red❤. The brecciated/agatized/fossilized stone looks like it might contain stromatoporoid, stromatolite or even coral. A microscope might help. Love the picture rhyolite!❤❤ That's stunning. Is the blue from copper or aluminum infiltrating?
arteries is probably more accurate! i like the red too! a microscope is not a bad idea! me too, i’m a sucker for blues! i’m not 100%, but there are copper family rocks in the area!
Why not pet wood? Still looks like wood grain on the interior and the round band could be a limb cast. Can rhyolite replace wood?🤔 It is volcanic rock even though I know it's not supposed to work that way geological. I think. 😅
well, i hadn’t considered that, mostly because the interior looked similar enough to other banded rhyolite i’ve found, but that doesn’t mean anything really! i know there are limb casts from rhyolite flows in nevada, the ones i’ve seen (never in person sadly) have looked more like the opalized limb casts found in virgin valley (though not the fire, etc of opal, just the overall look). there are both sedimentary fossils and volcanic activity in the area.
@GreatBasinProspecting Just because I think something doesn't make it so. The world would be a lot different otherwise. Maybe better, maybe not so much 🤔😂🤣. We wouldn't be worried about climate change, that's for sure!
Wow this video surprised me. Subbing
thank you!
Wow, from a common outside to a stunning interior! Beautiful! Love the white with the red river.
the surprising ones are always fun!
Not to sound weird, but what did it look like in the fracture?
that’s only in my subscription content 🤣 sorry, couldn’t help it. in all seriousness, i super glued it back together and i don’t really remember. but, there’s still a little chunk missing, and the red that’s present in the interior appears to carry further back…but then hits the glue. if i find some acetone i’ll dissolve it and let you know more!
@GreatBasinProspecting LOLOL! Was just curious if the colors were present in the fracture or contributed due to their infiltrating. 😂🤣😂🤣
Thank you this is Mona m o n a in clintonville Wisconsin saying thank you I loved all of them I don't have a favorite they're all gorgeous and they make me think of my Lord and Savior Jesus thank you for showing and God bless 🌹🌹🌹
Hi Mona 👋 I’m glad you liked the rocks, and glad they made you think of something positive!
Very pretty! Love the white rectangle - gorgeous!
I just LOVE these wonder stones/rhyolite you have on here AMAZING!
thank you!! they’re some of my favorites as well!
With the exception of that 1 tiny chip the halves fit together flawlessly.! What in the world could have split it like that? Cue the Twilight Zone music! 😊
haha, i wondered that too! i said “no way” audibly when i found the first half, and then again about 4x as loud when i found the second half 😂
Amazing that you found the two halves separated by twenty feet! Great observation skills! It looks like a landscape drawing to me with a river on the bottom. Beautiful!
thank you! it does look like nice landscape
Beautiful rock! Somehow I couldn't hear the audio on this one.
i posted the wrong one, without the voiceover
Glad I found this channel. What groovy rocks. I love the Lahontan Jasper🤩
thank you! i learned of it a few years ago and have been searching for it since :)
#5 could stand a few more slices I would be interested in seeing what else is in there.
not a bad idea!
Looks like snake head
Its pretty
How often does the wonderstone brecciate like this? It's beautiful how it "heals"
not super often, in the primary area i search around, i’d say maybe around 1/200 wonderstone rocks (of any quality) will have any breccia, maybe not even that often. i love it, and yes, the healing in it can be really pretty, i love the way the banding came together in this one
Great collection! I call the first one, "Sunrise." It is probably my favorite here. Love the white rectangles on #7. The inside of #3 was very unique and beautiful! Beautiful rocks!
thank you! yes, sunrise is a great descriptor, i think of the color palate as sunrise also :)
This is my favorite color combo for wonderstone. ❤
one of mine as well!!
What's the hardness of wonderstone?
6-7, I haven’t tested most of what I’ve found, I *think* as some of the material i find is mixed, the hardness varies a bit. i’m less knowledgeable about rock hardness in general though, so not guaranteed :)
Wow, those are all so pretty, each equally!
thank you!
Nice looking Rhyolite? Is that UV reactive?
Thanks! Yes, rhyolite, i thought the white might be uv reactive, but it is not
Yur gona hit 1ml❤❤❤
🤞 someday i hope 🙂
Gorgeous on the outside - spotted, beautiful! Love the inside, too.
thank you! i love the spots :)

Love the yellow and gold in the middle of the pink swirls!
thanks, the yellow b and gold are my favorite!
5:50 ‘s blues and greens stunning! I don’t understand how so many people aren’t in love with rocks and rock cutting, it’s so much fun seeing what’s inside of rocks. Love your content!
I love the blues and greens too! I’m not sure either, haha, there’s so much beauty to be found :) thank you, glad you’re enjoying!
Water level banding on the first one 🥰🥰🥰 so beautiful!
yes! i now know this is a waterline agate, and that the solid white is common opal :)
@ really? I’m not sure how to identify common opal. I have many many rocks, and I don’t know if common opal exists around me (Saskatchewan Canada) but there’s some rocks I have in an “I have no idea” box. I’ve never found a waterline agate myself, the rocks here aren’t great, so it’s extra great to watch channels like yours.
where i am, i’ve only found a little outside of an agate like this. even though it’s “common” it’s not very common for me to find, haha. up where you are, i believe you have some fossils and glacial deposits of rocks, but i’ve never made it up that way myself! thank you, and glad you’re enjoying the rocks!
The face rock eas cool, I said exactly that when you opened it. Wow a face!!! Lol but the dark chocolate brown was my favorite, but all really surprising & beautiful. Thank you. Oh yea I just rockhounded up by Lahontan & got some cool & awesome rockd. Just starting out officially but aleays collected tocks. Most lapidary equipment to expensive, but do have a dremel & just got my bits & sandpaper I ordered in! So gonna do my best. But like some of the rocks alacarte ( natural) lol thanks for your videos.
Looks like wagu beef.
i will add it to the playlist! th-cam.com/play/PLlfCA-q112MkXV63D5eTppNz8VxqE9O13.html&si=J6Iz-Y5V75ph1boj
The strong yellows and orange (?) in such a thick stripe or vein surprised me! They almost look brecciated. Possible fossil remains? 3:36 How do you differentiate quartz from chalcedony? I struggle with that. Is there a difference other than crystal size and translucency?
I have wondered if much more of what i’m finding contains fossil remains than i originally considered. it’s something i’d like to learn more about! the yellow and orange are always fun to find. On Chalcedony vs Quartz, yes, i look at crystal size first, so in this case, there’s some spots where the vein has small pockets and there are some small terminated crystals, and there is a little bit of druzy left on the exterior in small crevices. I use a jeweler’s loupe or zoom on my camera. I may be confidently incorrect, but my understanding is that chalcedony doesn’t do that. so if i can find evidence of that, that’s my first check. i also use a flashlight and laser pointer to text the translucency (although i’ve heard chalcedony can be pretty transparent also!)
@GreatBasinProspecting Thanks GBP. That's what I've read as well. I guess I was wondering can you have both in the same specimen? Is it a matter of how slowly the silica cools or if there's enough of a void for larger crystals to form? Or both? Or vice versa? 🙃🤪😄😂
you and me both! i’m not sure if they can co-occur like that, but i’m also not sure they can’t!
It's amazing how waterline material inclusions are introduced over millions of years! ❤ Common opal, calcite (?), quartz, chalcedony. A regular smorgasbord!😅
what an amazing way to form, the earth is spectacular!
Beautiful! Love the name, too - Banded Wonderstone!
thank you!
What's the source of the deep red in the small interior stripe and on the exterior? Iron oxide? But it's so clean and separate. And I agree about the birds. Pink Crows or Ravens. Ca-caw!
good question! i had to cut most of the review of the exterior for time, but as you noticed, there’s a bit on the exterior as well. having the rock in front of me, it looks like the same red (albeit much darker) that penetrates the “veins” in the lahontan jasper and other stones out here, which i believe is from iron. on this one it’s so dark it’s almost brown! this next part is pure speculation, but it almost looks like the red was replacing the white in that band, and then stopped.
oh and glad you saw the birds!
@GreatBasinProspecting Thanks GBP, that red is an unusual and awesome color. Not as good as the blue, but still awesome! Ca-caw!
Looks like an undercooked piece of chicken
well, can’t unsee that now 😂
Pretty, yes, but where did the pink on the outside go? The outside was so colorful with pink, white, gray, yellow.
yeah, i was surprised too. whatever caused those colors must not have carried through
I love it ❤ very pretty
thank you!
Gorgeous
So beautiful on the outside, like metallic pink! The inside is just as stunning - wonderful!
What a sweet little rock! Looks like a bonbon inside!
