    Nice one. I love scotland and want to go back there with my car or bike. I planed a roadtrip earlier including NC500 bits but I didn't do it yet with my lowered Cayman S because I was affraid to touch when getting in and out the ferries. You didn't have this issue apparently? the 410 sitts pretty low as well. The boot: 4:40 "like a glove" 🙃. In french, we have another saying (which you might know as well??): "like dad in mum"....🤭

      Ardennes Camping L'Eau Rouge was busy but reasonably quiet during the night. We were in the camping field although close to the facilities. They have camper van spaces and some fixed cabins you can hire. Some people had a whole mini F1 festival going on outside their camper vans, but everything did seem to calm down later at night.

      Yes, the hard top definitely does not stow away in the car, there is no room at all. It was a day trip when we took the roof off so it went into a soft protective cover and we left it in the garage. You have to be pretty certain of the weather, but it turned out fine so worth the risk.

    That looked a wonderful trip. We’ve done similar in older Exiges and an Evora. Suspect the V6 Exige is a better compromise for the trip than any of those. Itching to try mine out on a proper trip now. Only got it in October, and haven’t used it much yet because of the weather.

    • @mclay1853
      @mclay1853 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching, make sure you get a road trip done in yours. The Exige 410 has fairly hard suspension for your average Uk back roads but in Switzerland their roads are super smooth so great fun. Also did a similar trip a number of years ago in an Elise club racer (check out my 1st father & son road trip). It didn’t have same V6 roar but still a great car. Again thanks for watching.

    • @mclay1853
      @mclay1853 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. We were staying in an apartment while in Switzerland so we’re able to store the roof there while out for the day in the mountains (you need to be certain of good weather for the day). I have a protective cover for the hard top to protect it while off the car so can leave it in the garage without worry. The protective cover folds flat and sits on the bottom of the boot so we were able to bring it with us on the trip.

    • @mclay1853
      @mclay1853 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it holds 44 litres or 9.6 gallons, combined mpg is 27.7mpg so it's not overly thirsty due to the lack of weight. Yes you do need to note where the petrol stations are, especially as it needs super unleaded but we always managed to keep it above 1/4 full so no major problem. Scotland defiantly worth a road trip.

      This is my 3rd Lotus, previously an Elise 111r then a Elise club racer (see previous videos on my channel). The Exige with that v6 engine is fantastic, can be a hard ride on bad roads but worth it. You’ll need to get used to a few rattles as the car gets older (mine is 2 years old now) but this is fairly normal in a car that is built for light weight. On a good road there is nothing better. Enjoy it when it arrives. 👍

The camp site had a regular camp site toilet block that was cleaned. Due to the number of people at the race weekend, they also had those plastic chemical porta loo cabins dotted about. The one thing I will say is bring you’re own toilet rolls and keep hold of them. For the gents they also have these outdoor urinals. It’s the same story at the circuit. Hope you have good time.
