    In 1/2 you should pretty much always be raising in position pre flop. Most players are going to call light out of position and under 4-bet, so you get to isolate in position a lot by having a wide 3 bet range. KJo from the button to a cutoff open is definitely well within that range. I'd also open a little larger than 3x, you're trying to beat the rake, and again opponents over call. If you open to 8-10 and get jammed on for 16, so what? Call off with your entire range LOL.

    I think you're conflating some runbad with bad play. For example,. squeezing KTs in that spot is a good instinct, and is a fine hand to squeeze with. However, it is definitely a fold vs a 4b jam, and not a call. Also, any reason you are not playing 100bb? Youre going to make less money when you have good hands and are not going to realize your equity as well playing 60bb.

    • @pokersam
      @pokersam 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TheNow_Now I agree, but truthfully I think I played poorly *and* ran bad this session (but mostly played poorly). This was a 2/3 game that played like 5/5, so I should have bought the max ($500 I believe) but I went with 100bb ($300). I feel like I have better results when I buy in short, so I try to do that more. I’m going to change back to buying the max again since everything I study and everyone talks about how important it is to have a large stack.

    • @TheNow_Now
      @TheNow_Now 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pokersam yeah basically, due to high rake, you want to be able to cover people to play for stacks, if you make a good hand. if it was 2/3, then $300 is fine. Some of those raise sizes you mentioned were ridiculous though, but thats how LA poker is. Like the ATo hand, when they raise to $20, that's just someone announcing they have a very good hand lol, and letting you get off for cheap.

    • @WeissAdvice
      @WeissAdvice 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pokersam this is the important takeaway, you're too short to be squeezing KTs. Cause the HJ opens $20 - BTN and SB can't limp, so they're calling - so now the pot is $60. So the raise is a little small from out of position. But more importantly when the HJ jams for $275 effective you have $435 in the pot, basically 2:1 on a call, you have 38% against AQ, you have 29% against AK, AA and KK you have 14%, QQ and JJ you have 32%, TT you have 35%. So if you look at your weighted equity, it's juuuuuuuuust a hair below a +EV call. If you think there's any reasonable chance your opponent is doing this with 99 or worse, you're pot committed. Basically, you put yourself in a really shitty spot cause you're right on the cusp of pot committed. You want to be deeper so you can fold your marginal hands like this one and call off with your bigger hands.

    In the A T J hand with bottom set, I actually like the small bet. You keep in all the worse hands like Ax and KT, and incentivize check raises from draws. On very dynamic boards like this, betting small to incentivize a raise is a viable strategy. And in this exact case, because UTG open limps I wouldn't expect to see a lot of AK, AQ, AT, - he's semi-capped to weaker holdings, so I actually really like the smaller bet size here specifically.

    12:51 (AQc) how is that slow rolling giving an opponent opportunity to show/muck his hand?? If he mucks, then I have opportunity to muck my hand, too. Here: you paid the price he set to see his hand. Emphasis is on YOU PAID for it. It's all according to the poker rules, I don't see any SLOW ROLLING here. BTW, if he bluffed then he does not expect to win that hand anyway. Slowrolling is giving an opponent a false hope ON PURPOSE to trigger his emotions and capitalize on it later. As long as it is not done deliberately, that is not slow rolling. Example of Slowrolling is: If I am holding a winning hand, and my opponent shows his first, and I am deliberately delaying to show my winning hand. I understand being courteous not to give him a false hope when holding a winning hand. In that case I flip over my hand first and then asked him to show his hand. If he did not, then I ask dealer to flip it over for me. Period.

    When someone raises in front of you and there is a caller in between, you always have the option of 3betting. You have to at least double the size of the last raise. So in the hand with 4 behind, you have to raise to at least 37 (assuming 1/3). That's the bb plus 2x the raise (3 + 17 +17). With another player in the hand, you want to bet at least 3x plus the dead money because otherwise the original caller is never making a mistake calling your 3bet. So I would raise to 80 (20 * 3 + 20).

      When an initial opener raises, he cannot reraise his own raise, unless the betting is reopened. For the betting to reopen, a player behind him has to reraise or go all in for an increment at least equal to the opener's raising increment. So in your hand, if the limp is 3 and u open to 20, u raised an increment of 17. If the all in after u is, say, 35, thats not an increment of 17 or more, so it does not reopen the betting. U can only call the 35, u cannot 4bet. Say his all in is for 37, thats an increment equal or more to ur raising increment, so it reopens the betting and u can now 4bet. Keep in mind that the opener's reopen requirement is at least double his raising increment, not double his raise. Many times dealers themselves make the mistake of saying that the next person's all in had to be 40(double ur 20) rather than double ur raising increment. So its important to correct dealers when theyre wrong about this. This could be really important for u in a future pot. As far as short rebuys, it has to alternate between a short rebuy and a full rebuy. It can not be consecutive short rebuys, but players get sneaky and attempt consecutive short rebuys, but u can tell the dealer that the player had rebought short already.

    In NL, the minimum raise must be equal to the bet before, so if someone jams while short and can’t make the minimum raise it’s considered a non-raised all in and you can only call or fold. Bluffing with A9 your thinking is a little odd. Any time you bluff you should be thinking “what am I trying to get to fold.” Based on the way the hand played it looks like your opponent probably has a hand you are beating. I actually don’t hate the raise, but I think it’s accidentally a value raise, not a bluff. Or you’re getting crushed by a made flush 😂

    • @pokersam
      @pokersam 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the clarity on that. I was confused with the all-in rules, but even more confused with how the minimum buy in works... It's not a great game when someone can keep buying in for $40 and all-in preflop with it multiple times. The A 9 hand was weird and I thought I was behind, but I think you're right on an accidental value bet. Worked out and got paid luckily.

      Anyone behind the player who jammed can raise. If no one raises, you can only raise if his raise is at least as large as yours. Looks like this is 1/3, so your raise was 12. If his jam was at least 27 (15 + 12), you can 4bet.

    T9o: First I would just fold this hand with so many limpers. If you acted first, you definitely should fold. You don't gain enough EV to make up for the fact that you are likely dominated and unsuited. Second, if there were several limpers, your raise size should be much larger. I do not know how many limpers there were, but your raise size should be "standard" plus 1BB for each limper. Otherwise no one is making a mistake by calling. Against so many opponents, this should be a check on the flop. DEFINITELY take note of this player. 33:You don't have anywhere near the required implied odds to set mine vs a jam and call. You need at least 8 to 1, and you have at best just over 5 to 1 here ((12 + 65 + 65 + 200)/65). Obviously with a hand like 33, you need better than 8 to 1 to address the times you end up having set under set or, in this case, set vs straight. How did you make 600 from this hand with one player all in for 65 and the other all in for 265? ATcc: The flop bet is fine heads up (HU), but I'd just check vs 3 opponents. Cbet of 50 is especially large multiway. You can call a small to medium bet from the BU with 2 overcards and bdsd/bdfd combo. KJcc: Why the 8.3x preflop raise (PFR)? You again do not have the right odds to call the jam. You have 12 outs (any club and any K), meaning you need better than 2.83 pot odds. @@MaydayAggro thanks for the analysis on these hands! Definitely take all this advice and use it going forward. I got very lucky on a lot of these hands and need to make sure I don’t play the same way in the future where the luck balances out. I think for the 33 hand I included my bet in the pot, still trying to figure out the best way to show the size of the pot including my bets and not sure if I should be including the $ I put in the pot in the gains or not during the video. I’ll mess around with it.

    What is the max buy-in at 2/3? If you can buy in for more, I'd try to take at least 500, and more if possible. With a "standard raise" of 15 and a stack of 300, you are effectively playing 2/5 with a 60BB stack.

      @@MaydayAggro at the Bike I think it’s $300, at commerce it’s a lot lower. I find myself essentially playing 2/5 or 5/5 with my opening bets at 2/3 games, need to adjust that for sure.

    Q9o is just a fold vs a raise in CO. J8o is a fold pre. You should not be trying to polarize your range as the opener. Polarizing assumes that you would have a limping range, which you shouldn't have.

    It is very common to lose money when getting started. Low stakes have higher rakes, very illogical situations, and really test your patience. AND you're going to make a lot of mistakes without even being aware of it. Pocket 9 hand is a great example of understanding a good thinking player vs a bad thinking player. Good thinkers consider what the opponent probably has given their tendencies, position, and actions. Bad thinkers only think about what they themselves have. If you're opening from EP and are a disciplined player, if I'm your villain I'm going to put you on a fairly standard range of hands. When the flop comes out 4, 5, 6, two diamonds, I know this flop massively favors my range as the BB defender. So if I check and you bet FULL POT, I'm going to assume that your range significantly narrows to over pairs, over cards with diamonds, and maybe hands like A8 hearts that block my nut hands and have back door equity. Of course the villain here ISN'T thinking that way, God knows why they are calling with AJ clubs. That brings us to the inflection point, the turn. If I'm your villain, I'm going to ASSUME you are connected to this board. Everything in your range should have some standing. So if I'm donking pot into you I will absolutely have hands that contain a 7, 2 pair hands, sets, etc; and also I will have high equity bluffs. Because I'm working off the assumption that you have something you want to hold onto. SO - if a GOOD Player makes this move, don't assume they are bluffing. BUT, a bad player is not going to think about what you have - they're not going to think that you probably have equity on this board. So when a BAD Player does this, it's exactly the thought process you described. They're going to bet smaller with their good hands to keep you in and bigger with bad hands in hopes you fold.... something.

    Good vlog: On the A4 hand you definitely lost a lot of value. That hand is a great check raise on the turn, can look like a flush draw if you check raise small he probably calls all kings. Then you can blast the river blank and get paid for an all in. Or at least get added value from any diamond draw by check raising the turn. When you have an unexpected strong hand like that try to play for stacks. That’s the implied value of that draw. And on the QQ hand, out of positions with like 5 callers, 25 is way too little. I’d go to like 40. Their ranges are capped except maybe the first limper. No one limps AA or KK or AK after a limp. So blast off with AA-JJ there. And yes you beat nothing on that board.. I gotta get down to LA, that game looks weak and lively…..:)

    If you want to get better, would recommend: 1. Doing a training site, with basic cash game training. 2. Playing online and using a tracker, to track results. If you can beat 10NL, you can beat live poker. 3. Look at some preflop charts. With high rake in LA, calling hands like A4o/Q9o are just losing calls in the long run.

      I’ve been using CLV for course work and studying, and GTOwizard for charts, as well as CLV for charts. I really don’t like online poker, so I’m trying my best to avoid it, but understand I would probably get better quicker if I played online as well. As always, I appreciate the advice, and I think overall I’m going to play tighter and be more patient, as well as record the majority of my play time as to remain disciplined.

    Abrupt ending without session buy-in and cash-out numbers. Guessing ur at about -1300 overall with this win, which isn't too bad. Just about 4 buy-ins. Whats good is that u recognize that ur too loose at times. That increases variance, to include bad variance. Remind yourself to stay disciplined when boredom sets in. Being card dead is a great time to remain observant and look for tells in other players in hands. Timing tells are a big one. U might have timing tells urself when u snap-act. Review ur videos for them. Try to eliminate snap-actions to eliminate snap-action tells. Looking forward to next session.

      To add some context, I bought in for $300 and cashed out ~$450 (+$150). Unfortunately, the footage is about a week old and I recorded the intro the day I posted it. I had a non-recorded session a few days ago (bought in $300, cashed out $0). The analysis at the start is where I currently am right now (about -$1,450). You give some good advice about what to think about while being card dead and snap-actions. Will definitely try to implement slower actions that are consistent throughout my play, as to not give any additional information. Also, I forgot to mention the date and time this time around again, will make sure not to forget next time and add some more context to the session. Thanks again for all your input.

    You were incredibly lucky to get called on the river. Maybe you could have gotten it all in on the turn, but that's the only scenario where you get more. If you raise turn and he calls, he will definitely not be calling any river bet because his 2 pair was counterfeited. So, yes, you definitely got a $75 gift.
