    I have just purchased a trac seat for my Ariens ikon onyx 52. The seat has the same configuration as yours (three bolts to seat, not four). I tried installing it over about three hours without success. Your video gives me clues on how I might do it, but you don’t film the steps involving drilling the holes, where the holes should go, waht measurements you took etc. Can you provide a step by step guide in how to do this? No worries if you can’t.

    Note to anyone doing this for the first time, take plenty of mobile phone pics, so the reassembly is easier. I had one bracket left over after putting it back together, and it took me an hour to find where it went. It was held on by the left hand side main transmission bolts, and was a bracket to hold the mower deck anti-sway bar. Note that YHT husqvarna lawn tractors have the transmission facing this way on the video but on CHT models it faces in the reverse and all connections are on opposite sides, and that front support bracket is at the rear, but has bolts to release it one on each side through the chassis, so the wheels have to be removed to get at them. I took the sump pan off so I could see how the wear was going on the gears, and to clean the internal sump oil filter, which is a fine mesh screen. there should be three other magnets in there to clean as well. After 250 hours total run time, the wear was minimal, but there was some metallic powder in the oil and black sludge on the magnets. While I had the sump pan off, I found the two places where there is provision for sump drain plugs to be drilled and tapped. I highly recommend this, because it means that in the future I can do the oil change each 100 to 150 hours, (with the recommended Mobil syn 5w 50 oil) without removing the transmission. Just take off the belt, fan and pulley, then the sump fill plug. I tapped the drain hole to take a 10mm bolt, cut the bolts about 12mm long and used two fibre washers. I uses about 2.2 Litres. These trannies are made in Japan by Yanmar, they recommend the 5w 50 oil and that the drain plugs be installed by the lawn tractor manufacturer, but they don't bother. They also often use 5w 30 oil when they fill it which is cheaper, and don't bother to tell you that it should be changed after 50 hours. Nice.

    You have to read the fine print (binding specification) of the product. The discharge/charge current is limited by the power mosfets in the BMS. These are costly and hence they are the bare minimum acceptable, usually 1A per Ah of capacity (absolute maximum ratings of the chip, you'd better derate it by at least 30% to have a chance it will last a little bit). So your 7Ah battery can deliver 7A maximum, about 70W. Totally insufficient for an UPS. A corresponding lead acid battery (7Ah) could deliver 200W for 10 minutes. Additionally the LiFePO4 chemistry is rated for thousands of cycles, but the electronic of the BMS? They say nothing. I do not think it will last as much, especially if taxed at the max absolute rating of the mosfets ....... And what about accidental short circuits? Would you instantly fry the BMS and hence destroy the whole thing in 1 millisecond? With a lead acid battery you only get a spark, but nothing in the battery is permanently damaged. I am not surprised the UPS manufacturers are sticking with the old and trusted lead acid technology ......

    Thanks very much, for coming back, and running these real-world tests. The LifePo4 managed only 50% of the expected time, in a high-load situation. Which may have been due to a shutdown in the protective circuits, in the presence of excess heat. / Yet there was still energy left in the batteries. So a cool-down period, followed by a circuit-reset may have restored operation... for another 15min period. Not very helpful. / But in a low-load situation, where heat was NOT a problem, the lifespan was EXTENDED. By 40% over what was expected from a lead-acid battery. / Much appreciated! It's really nice to see tests like these in situations where the answers are not simple, or cut and dry. There is some complexity here. Since these units were designed to work with SLA batteries, heat wasn't a concern. So they are _completely enclosed_ with NO ventilation. Like an Easy-Bake Oven. Which you have demonstrated is a disadvantage for LifePo4. / I suspect that if these had SOME passive airflow, it would help. And with even a tiny fan to assist, could perhaps completely eliminate the activation of the BMS shutdown.

    • @Andrewsnotes1
      @Andrewsnotes1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment, the testing surprised me as well. Considering my UPS has small loads on it, I expect the batteries to last some time on standby as well as in use during power outages. I suggest that you check that the oil level is correct first. without moving the transmission, take off the belt, fan and pulley, then knock off the fill plug and check that the level is and inch below the top, sitting on the casting that you see there. if the oil is very low, they behave badly. Next, make sure that you have properly bled the oil into the pump using the recommended method. There is a lever that has to be pulled to do this on the front ( or back depending which way the tranny is orientated). with the tractor jacked up, rev the engine and put it in forward, then reverse several times. then return the lever to run position and repeat this. Next, are all your back idler pulleys and guide pulleys running freely? I am just removing all mine and re greasing them. I didn't think this was possible until I saw a YT video, each one has a rubber seal that CAN be removed with a seal pick or jewellers screwdriver, so that they can be cleaned with solvent and compressed air, Just remove one side on each. If it still has no power, then consider the pump/motor replacement kit, which should be about $600. Each pump has 5 pistons, working on a swage plate. One person on YT said they contacted Tuff Torq in Tennessee and just bought the parts that actually wear out, and it turns out it is usually the pump body, not the pistons. so thats a way of saving money. Removal is easy, getting it all back correctly takes some finesse with extremely small parts that just fall out if you are not careful. Watch the overhaul videos several times before you attempt it. Put grease on the small parts so they stay put when you reinstall them.

      Agreed up to a point. I think as the market matures more of these drop in lifepo4 replacements will be suitable as SLA replacements.

      @@Andrewsnotes1 If UPS manufacturers built their internal chargers to use the LiFeP04 BMS voltages instead of using those of SLA, that would be a great and popular use for them. Lots of people dislike SLA batteries and want to use LiFeP04, but the UPS makers are lagging.

      Thanks for the info . My question was related to the actual actuator. He just show where the actuator is located and what screws to remove, but he cut the video on how he took the part out ( what he used to remove the 3 screws.)

    Where I live, it gets warm in the summer (but nothing like it does for you!) - but it gets very cold in the winter. Our shop has un-insulated garage doors and I'm thinking of adding insulation. However, I think I'll use the "blue board" insulation. You can buy different thickness - but I think 1.5" fits perfectly.

      @Andrewsnotes1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, the increased thickness over what I used will definitely be better suited for cold climates.

    Thanks for the video! Our vacuum is still working well, but just determining how best to maintain it. (It is an older vacuum, but new to us.) I just ordered a new filter bag for it and now I'm wondering if I should check the brushes? Did you install a new motor? How much was that, and is it working like new again?

    • @Andrewsnotes1
      @Andrewsnotes1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I am on my 3rd motor. It was around $80. Find the model number of the old motor and google it, you may not get the exact replacement; however, there are many aftermarket motors available. They seize up over time, possibly from dust in the bearings. I am not sure if the brushes would have lengthened their lives, but I am willing to try.
