When I know I'll be using 1, 2, or 3 brick sections like this for narrow pier walls I use floral wire vertically in the casting as a reinforcement like rebar. All of my 1 brick sections gets this automatically, this cuts down on breakage when removing these sections from the mould. I bet I went from 75% failure to 10% failure. Nippers don't have a problem cutting these.

I'm finally going to build this. For the past few years I've just been using an alternative method to vibrate the molds, an oscillating tool held against the underside of the bench top. $7 US for the motor, $7 US for a 12 pack of door stops, $7 US for 2 motor speed controllers. $21 US and I'll have some spares. I'm a woodworker so I have plenty of plywood scraps to use. And I have many options for 12v power supplies. My original method worked but wasn't very efficient and when I tripled my mold count last year the inefficiency became an annoyance. Now I need individual base plates to use under each mold and a drying shelf.

Enjoying these build videos immensely. What did you use for the brick grout lines? I'm a bit hard of hearing and the transcript made no sense.

Lol i was looking for something to make realistic glass from and used to work in a lab but it's only when i watched your video. Just didn't think of those thin covers when making microbiology preparations. These covers are indeed really thin but i think you might get away with using the bigger glass plates for larger scale dioramas too

Simplest and most efficient tutorial thank you!!! I wonder if it would be slightly more realistic to start with 8 strands bifurcated then twist 4 together as tree branches are thicker by base and then gradually do 4 to 2? Anyway cheers mate great vid

thanks for the nice videos, they are very educational. unfortunately the pantiles molds (1350057) are no longer available. I have contacted the manufacturer and told me that the mold in question has been removed from the range. My question now is: Is there an alternative to these specific pantiles, or is there another manufacturer. thanks Peter from Belgium

I have tried pigments in the casting powder, but it always comes out way to light, or it affects the plaster setting correctly. I do use Herculite 2 as well.
