The Bridge Street History Center's Local Tales By Local Folks Event was presented in September 2022 at The First Presbyterian Church of Granbury, TX. Note: Lots of wind noise on this video. Rocky Point School, the first one room school in Hood County was established by James Travis Shirley on the Elizabeth Crockett land grant.

The Rocky Point Baptismal is located on the headwaters of Rucker's Creek in Hood County, Texas. The concrete structure was built to retain spring water coming from the bluff area and was used by several nearby church congregations to baptize their members. Our best guess is that it was constructed sometime in the early 20th Century.

This one-act play illustrates the love of JoAnn Miller, Joe Nutt, and the community of Granbury, Texas had for saving and restoring the historic Granbury Opera House in 1974 after it sat in ruin for almost a half a century.

In the August Local Tales By Local Folks Event local historian Mary Saltarelli tells how the early settlers from the Upland South came to Hood County Texas and brought both their culture and architecture with them.
