JOIN US - trailer

JOIN US is the follow up to Ondi Timoner's Sundance darling rock-doc DIG! America is the world's breeding ground for Cults and religious fanatics (what a surprise) and JOIN US is a doc that follows a group of individuals trying to separate themselves from this troubled reality. One mime's journey to fulfill his destiny and discover himself. It doesn't have flying sunglasses and it's a little film schooley, but nonetheless deserves its place in this sad reality of viral funk plus it's a mockdoc, which already makes it 5% cooler.
RIDING GIANTS trailer

Steve Mutha'f'in James is the man! Him and Kevin Macdonald are my two favorite doc filmmakers because they can actually direct a feature also. This is the trailer to HOOP DREAMS, the movie that was robbed of an Oscar and actually changed the way the Academy votes on Documentaries.
HANDS ON A HARD BODY trailer

I got the trailer to the Holy Grail of Doc films, HANDS ON HARD BODY. It doesn't really do true justice to these characters and their Joseph Conrad type obstacles and trials and shape shifters in the real deal. Besides the $150 copies on Amazon anyone know where to get this movie!

The TOP GUN of documentary films... Follows two fighter pilots, Jay and Meagan, through their two years at Navy flight school. Some of the coolest dogfighting and f-14 visuals that would have even Tony Scott screaming more Ice Man, more!

RIDING GIANTS -= Laird Hamilton

What can I say Laird Hamilton is the shite! And Stacy Peralta is almost as bad ass as him. First the Bones Bridgade, then DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS followed by the best surfing doc ever? I think BIG WEDNESDAY will always be my true love of surfing movies, but in the doc-shop, RIDING GIANTS rules. This is a just a clip of the man himself Laird Hamilton riding just a wave, that just happens to be one of...

    My perception of the sequence of events: This incredible photo comes of out of Laird being towed into Teahupo'o. Laird, ever the self promoter, comes up with the idea of getting all of the best known big wave riders in history to comment on the picture and video of the ride and make a movie that unanimously proclaims him as the best big wave rider ever. The only problem, (in my view), is that by the end of the movie, Jeff Clark showed more sack than any of them. It's not what he did or where he did it... it's that he did it ALONE! No jet skis. No helicopters. No cameras. And oh yeah, he paddled in!

    BJTM is so much better than the DW. It's no contest. Time has borne that out. Anton's music is timeless. Courtney's already sounds hopelessly dated. And I'm not particularly fond of Anton. He's a jerk. But he's a talented jerk. Just sayin'. I wouldn't be surprised if people still listen to a few of his songs in 2124. A few of them are up there with the Beatles best. And unlike them, he wrote his own material, instead of showboating for ghost writers like they did after Help!

    • @StuTheDon17
      @StuTheDon17 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No way. Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia is a masterpiece. I agree, BJTM are the better band and overall made better music. But Dandy Warhols did release some gems. And that album is fucking unbelievable. If you'd heard it, then you wouldn't be saying they're shit.

    • @InsaneStryker777
      @InsaneStryker777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d say The Dandies were doing the whole “ironic hipster indie sleaze” before it was popular, while BJM were more about earnest crazy soul and taking steps into new realms. Soul over Mind.

    • @InsaneStryker777
      @InsaneStryker777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@StuTheDon17The good parts of that album are a total ripoff of BJM. It’s a pretty good album, but it’s an inferior version.

    • @n.w.2579
      @n.w.2579 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean, I think The Dandy Warhols had a distinct and unique sound of their own, while Brian Jonestown Massacre really just sound like a carbon copy Spacemen 3. You could put some Spacemen 3 songs on a BJM cd and you really wouldn't know the difference at all. In fact they'd probably be amongst the better songs there. I don't really like post-Thirteen Tales Warhols and BJM probably are a little more consistent, but I don't like this "BJM had integrity! Dandy Warhols didn't!" interpretation. Yeah, BJM incorporated more folk than Spacemen 3 I guess and I do like them when they are focused, but they are absolutely the less original band of the two. Nobody sounds like the first three Dandies albums.

    • @kirks.1854
      @kirks.1854 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@n.w.2579 Spacemen 3 are talented but they don't have that same hit song ability as BJM. As for the Dandies, they had their time in the sun. I saw them in concert quite a few times. I partied with them a few times in NW Portland in bars, and down by Courtney's large building in bars. Their songs just don't do it for me now. I can't listen to them at all. They irritate me. Just being honest.
