Best escorts ever made mutch better than MK and any escort mk1is the best ever fact
My late brother taught me to drive in a mk3 zephyr. Brilliant car. He bought a mk3 zodiac later on and used to let me use it for many weekends. Wish I could have that time over again. Great memories cruising around North Otago . Thanks Bro.
Looks pretty damn good !!! 👍
I had one of those exact models except mine was silver. I learned practically everything I knew about repairing cars from that Escort and the preceding Anglia. Of course it was always with the help of John Haynes any time day or night.
Lovely car - respect!
grew up in New Zealand and this was the hot rod to have until the Aussie muscle cars took over
I have 2 of these that Im rebuilding thanks for sharing. Jer Engineer New Zealand.
I had an MG Midget 1500 1979 T reg in my 20s too in British Racing Green. A piece of history…
I was lucky enough to buy one of those in 1973. Mine also was a 63 model, same colour as yours in fact totally identicle only difference was that I had reversing lights built into the back bumper. Reg number 4448 RU. Drove from Dorset to Butlins Skegness in 1974, 270 miles and averaged 27 mpg. Paid £90 for it. It never went wrong and it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. Sold it 2 years later and bought a 3.8 Mk 2 Jaguar.
Not a bad swap, love the mk2 jag, never had a jag,, one day
Lovely car
I never understood why Vauxhall took the indicators out of the tailfins in the later models.
Trying to work out where this was filmed, it looks very familiar.
Ashford near Heathrow
This is how I brought it all those years ago. It's a base model it came with base seats. I brought some roll tops about 35years ago. Had the interior reupholstered about 4years ago including the roll tops. I've packed the base seats away and fitted the roll tops. If I ever sell the car the base seats will go back in and I will sell the roll tops separately. Thanks for al the nice comments. Keep the classics alive guys.
I drove an 18hp Lancaster for years, which I loved. A few interesting features of the cars: the bodies were by Mulliner, the front suspension is by tortion bar (like the Citroen) & the engines were noted for quiet smooth running (they have hydraulic lifters with separate oil filters).
R/H/D EXPORTS there were many. Sth Africa, Australia , New Zealand etc I own a 1951 Legere R/H/D in Brisbane Australia
Love it...nothing matches the raw feel of driving a Midget....Purchased a 75 Midget...3500$ new... I was 22. Agree, we must relive our youth, and now drive a Z3.
Nice L1/2. Nothing like the sound of the MG OHC 6 - especially with blower out front.
Had the model before this on. Blue and Grey. Great motor
Nice video. So happy and motivational. What I particularly like is that the car looked great. Everybody ‘hates’ the E plastic bumpers, but actually they look OK. It’s going to be really hard to find an original like this in years to come.
Lovely and furthermore the badges on the grille reminds me of good old days with a fleet of Humber Hawks and Super Snipes my dad had including an Imperial ❤❤❤
That was my dream car when I was a youngster.
Love your attitude to the restoration. I can relate to your experience!!!
Lovely classic perfect piece of history lovely to see
When I was growing up, my neighbour had 2 V8's one after the other. Always sounded great when he drove by. V6, V8 and straight 6 engines always sounded fantastic.
The car is as i bought it. It did come with the original base seats. They have been reupholstered and are stored away. I bought a pair of roll tops in 1986 for £50.00 and had them reupholstered 4 tears ago. Decided to use the roll tops as they are more comfortable. I appreciate your feedback negative and positive. Each and everyone to there choice. Ive been honest with my interview. I am sure we can all find fault with most old motors. After all they arent brand new. Happy motoring to you all.

I remember my Dad had a Rose Pink Cresta ....still my favourite car
Nice powerful cars in the day . . and pleasant to drive! : )
My dad had a zodiac dark blue the reg was PEN 974 , years layer I bought a powder blue zephyr 4 loads of great memories between them.
Nice old Fords..... My dad had a MK4 zodiac Executive was beautiful so smooth
My Dad had the same Zodiac market 3 in dark green. Registration number JWC 125
Thats a very clean and original looking car!
I liked the original base models. The only thing that I remember being different inside above other escort base models inside was the dash. No glove box, no centre console, no dash cut out (with clock in the dash), Recaros, tints or black headlining. They were really just a basic model with a 2 litre engine in there. They were fun!
I thought they were a 3 speed !
I love that blue Vauxhall Cresta car does it available for sale or anyone can afford to buy it and contact me with I and keys 🔑, thanks again for your generous cooperation.
when i lived in lincoln a neighbour had one he was in the Navy, i was 6 ? i thought that Zodiac was a spaceship!
Some strange info.. Its a MkI tiger.. So not a 1967 model.. Would be a late 65 with the square bonnet and doors. As for a top speed of only 95mph.. With those larger wheels and tyres on.. Must have one hell of a short final drive ratio.. Like over 4.5:1... A stock Tiger has a 2.88:1 and will do between 117-125mph depending how high you want to rev it...
Yes I thought it was a bit strange to say 95 mph.
Used to see many of these on the road when a very young lad, magnificent car love all that chrome
Lovely colour and lovely car. I still have my Midget, one of the last 500 built before the sad closure of Abingdon . I bought it when I was 20 and the car was two years old with 7180 miles on the clock . I am now 60 and my car is 42 we are both still going strong 😁.
Had one of these lovely motor cost me £ 85
l,ve had zephyr 4 and 6 but my zodiac mk 3 was the best love the bench seats and all that chrome .
MANUAL!
Quite a few came out here, mostly 4 door models but also the coupé. Not many convertibles. There was often a coupé at the same service station where my parents bought petrol. It's a long time since I saw one on the roads.
Owned one (1980-83) almost exactly the same, except mine was a 2 door with a tan seats. Awesome car, very peppy, short stroke engine, happily did 10mph in third gear. Engine cut out on a bumpy road once, turned out the 16 point plug that fitted into the back of the key ignition switch had worked its way loose, only happened the once. NZ assembled model also had that lovely 1300 Super badge on the boot, in addition to the drivers side panel. Happy memories 👍
17/12 22 My ol' Dad worked at Vauxhall. One evening he bought home some plain printed black & white drawings of the PA Crestas. Employees were given them to take home to ask us then children to colour them in with any colours we wanted to. After a few days they were then returned where they were to be forwarded onto the finishing department. It was fun coloring in with any random colours ! Often wonder if they were used to decide on colour options offered.
A nice car,my late father owned two.I remember them having heaters and a lever to adjust the accelerator instead of using your foot like a cruise control
Great back seat !
Typical example of a kid “I bought the car off Dad” then when questioned “no money changed hands” 😂😂 God bless a good dad 👍
He mustn't drive it very often !! At 2.28 he puts it into reverse gear then third !! Claiming 1st & 2nd !!!
🤣I noticed that! Reverse was usually towards you and up with the ol 3 speed column change cars. Low gear was there with 4 speed column change cars like Austin's, Morris's, & Hillman's from 1960 (in New Zealand) and the likes.
Lovely old zodiac mate, my uncle Brian had one years ago and I managed to blag a drive in it.. yours looks ace 👌👌
