Most of these uniforms are only ceremonial. When needed they wear normal uniform.
As an Irish, thanks for reacting.
I think when camera tried to zoom in on the soldier on the horse right the way back near the road,he was the garrison sergeant major he's the guy who see,s to and sets up and the whole thing,in charge.hes checking making sure everyone does as expected on the parade
reason for removing the head dress is because it is seen as respectful, similar to a funeral
That was after King Charles and Queen Camilla's Coronation. All those soldiers had been part of the ceremony, Yes there was some from a few Commonwealth countries too. Taking off their hats is part of the respect our sevicemen afford the Royal Family.
Canada had the third largest combat role in Afghanistan and the third highest lost of troops , Canadian snipers set three world long distance record kills in Afghanistan and Iraq
And youndidn’t actually show them trooping the colour. 🤦🏻♀
Trooping the Colour. Not the trooping of the colour.
I’m from Thailand and this kind of mess kit is very easy to find here, German style like you have and another style which is wider but shorter that our armed forces have been used it maybe since cold war era. I believe those mess kit that i talked about are domestically produced here in Thailand and they’re dirt cheap, around 10-15 bucks and they’re really good for what they’re designed to do, it’s one of very few things that is an armed force issued that actually good😂
the dress is a tiger skin to protect the uniform all our drum base bands in uk
This video doesn’t show the actual trooping of the colour ( regimental flag). Each year a regiment is chosen to have their colour honoured. The officer chosen to carry the regiment’s colour during the ceremony has to train for many weeks as when he marches past the monarch he holds the colour( which is big and heavy) by one arm parallel to the ground at a slow march.
I think you may need a history lesson. Firstly, you referred to the United kingdom's national anthem, Scotland's National Anthem is O' flower of Scotland, there are 4 separate countries, Scotland, Northern Ireland Wales and England. All of which Scotland has the most and proudest heritage . We only are united by the fact that one King or Queen reigns, but one distinguishable point being Wales, Wales is a Principality hence The Prince Of Wales. Great Britain is geographical which includes, The Republic of Ireland... The British islands are surrounded by the Atlantic, North, and Irish seas and to the south the English Channel, also land mass does not have an accent, each country has their own distinguishable accents. A little side note, each individual country except England absolutely hate being called England or English. Please reference Scotland's and the 2 other countries National anthems when discussing anthems. Today I saw this post on TH-cam Peace out🏴🏴🏴
The band on horseback the riders guide the horses with their feet
I am honoured and proud to have served my country both at home and abroad 🇮🇪🇺🇳
Brilliant to witness the cheering, loyal troops. My father brought me here when I was 10 years old. Just out of the blue, plucked me up and brought us all here. It took me five years to stop dreaming of somehow walking back. I'm 80 and I am still a British Citizen. I have tried to convince myself to change my citizenship, but I cannot. I saw the Queen when I was 15. Travelled ten miles. I was dressed for church, white gloves, bought a new hat and stood in the crowd lining the street, waving. Home is where the heart is.
It was a useless video as it missed out the actual trooping of the colour.
You missed out all the best bits of the prade
The trooping bit is mainly when they pass by the king at the review stand at standard then quick march. The Regimental standards are dropped to pay compliment to the King as head of the Armed services

We can have facial hair in my opinion 1 more aggressive look 2. cam stick doesn't do squat for keeping you warm up here lol
This video has been shortened, think it last for 2 hours.
We do have a reserve force. I know cause i was one a looong time ago and loved it and miss it even more. Before that i was an army cadet which made me want to be a canadian soldier. I was in a rifle regiment which i prefer. It was the greatest time of my life. My weapon at the time was an FNC1A1. Great weapon great training and a great time
The President of the USA could not ride a horse through Washington without a bullet proof glass barricade down the length of every street and soldier snipers on every high building lining the route. Here we have our Royal family our on horseback or in open landau's with no extra thought for their safety than normal. Of course they are all expert riders.
Back in the day - e.g. the times of the establishment of the VC and before and since - capture of the enemy's guns were clear evidence of winning. Using captured guns (or pieces thereof) is an entirely appropriate way to create medals.
They aren't flags, they are the regiments' battle honours that they drop to show their allegiance to king/queen of country.
In some regiments, it has become customary for the percussion rank to wear leopard skins over their uniform. This protects both the uniform and the instrument, as cymbals have to be muffled against the chest, which may leave marks on the cloth, and the drums may be scratched by uniform buttons. Then there is also a second reason. Leopard skins are used across the British bands as a symbol of a bygone era. Back in the 18th c when having “exotic” units was in vogue, the majority of, say, the drummers in the Fusiliers were of African descent. The leopard skins were only worn on parade and added to the spectacle. So in reality ..its a traditionally thing for many reasons...I guess you could say...its just their thingy!
I’m a Monarchist from my hair roots to my toenails. The trooping of the colours is the most historical meaningful parade that I never tired from Tradition is a powerful thing. I’m so glad I’m able to enjoy it the orchestration, absolutely fantastic. I’m proud to be a royalist God save our king.🙏
If you haven't already seen it, check out Royal Navy field gun competition. These amaizing guys used to race taking a field gun apart and carrying it over walls and canyons then reassemble and fire it. Sadly, health and safety lightweights put a stop to it, but for an artillery guy it's right up your street. Your reaction will be priceless.
Our defence budget wasted.
Research before you go on air!
Everyone on this lawn at Buckingham Palace was on duty and in the procession throughout the Coronation Day....therefore many of them never saw much of the day themselves. Also, removing one headdress is a sign of respect...and everyone on parade has sworn an oath to the Monarch on joining the formed forces. Also why the regimental flags and ensigns are laid on the groun....below the level of the Regiments' Monarch. (I know you don't lay such on the ground in the US). Charles trained in the navy, army and airforce. He is now Colonel in Chief, or someone in the Royal Family is, and takes a real and keen interest in their lives and welfare.
I served in the 70s with some of the hero's who were involved in that engagement and the resulting conflict.
America replaced one idol for another.
I hasten to add that the British had a hand in the Second World War, the Canadians were involved far earlier than the USA forces, so when you say that the USA and Canadian had the honour to win the war, you had the honour to help the British win the war!
The troops are the back are the RAF
th-cam.com/video/-WBd0jQE_Yc/w-d-xo.html Better one for you this years with commentary .
Check out 3 Scots homecoming parade the Scottish military marching the streets with bagpipes and drums.
The king is sick should step down and make Ann our Queen she will and can save Britain from a disaster she got ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️s 🇬🇧🗳️🗳️🗳️🗳️wisely
The funeral procession of Sir John Monash had at least one QUARTER Of the total population Melbourne over two hundred and fifty thousand people considering the total population of Melbourne at the time was one million people..... This gives a real idea of how he was revered by the people.
They do a slow step at times and then when commanded they do a fast march.
The change in step is the quick march (116-120 paces a minute) and the slow march (60 paces a minute) the gurkas and light infantry go faster
for a short time, you are in the House, therefore you remove your hat ect
Two speeds of March. Slow and quick……and if you want quick, look at the rifle brigade quick march at 140 paces a minute!.
3.06 that was Princess Anne riding tbe horse on the far right.
King Charles would normally be lead horseman, as he has been unwell recently he arrived in carriage for his Birthday .
There are three paces commonly used on parade. Quick March, slow march and Double time (effectively jogging - traditionally used by Gurkhas and Light Infantry).
Theres a lot cut out on this video. Much better to watch the whole thing with the bbc commentary. Idk where to find that in the US though. But it would give a better understanding of whats going on and everyone thats there
It’s called Trooping The Colour! Not Trooping OF The Colour.
Is your dad I. The forces?
To answer the question about What the king was wearing. It is a non military outfit. Though in usual public appearances he will wear one of his uniforms. Here he is wearing historical vestment clothes worn by previous Kings. Notably the Georgians. The Crown is the 1661 St Edwards crown. A 17th Century Replica of the crown worn by Englands first king
