"Albanian Chicken & Rice Bake: The Secret Recipe That Will Leave You Craving for More!"
Albanian Inspired Chicken & Rice Bake
Ingredients
• 2 kg chicken pieces. $7:99
• 2 cups of jasmine rice. $1.19
• 4 cups of warm water ?
• 2 carrots chopped $0.39
• 1 stalk of celery chopped small $0.24
• 1 large onion chopped small $0.30
• 3 cloves of garlic minced $0.12
• 3 tablespoon chicken vegeta or chicken stock powder $1.33
• 2 tablespoons all purpose seasoning $1.15
• 100grams butter chopped in small cubes $1.27
Total Price of Ingredients $13.98
Steps.
1. Wash the chicken with vinegar and water
2. Drain excess water off chicken
3. Chopped the vegetables, onions and garlic
4. Add chicken to a baking dish and sprinkle all purpose seasoning on each chicken pieces
5. Rub the seasoning to make sure it covers all the chicken pieces
6. Arrange it in the baking dish and start adding onions, mince garlic, carrots and celery
7. Add rice to a softer and wash it first before adding to the baking dish
8. Add warm water, chicken vegeta or stock powder
9. Stir to mix all the ingredients and chicken together
10. Finally add small blocks or cubes of butter on top
11. Cover with foil and let it bake in a preheated oven at 160-170° ceLcius
12. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked well and the rice
13. Let it sit for few minutes before serving

What can I substitute the milk powder with?
I read one of your comments about the milk powder. I will try it without it and comment again on the results of my attempt with your recipe. I live in Olympia, WA and sadly can't find a bakery close enough that serves our island favs. Your recipe came in clutch! Thanks again for sharing!!!
@@melehni you can leave it out completely if you don’t have it. Milk powder adds extra fluffiness to the buns. Amazon sells milk powder however you totally leave it out and use liquid milk with the rest of ingredients. I hope that helps 🙏😊
@@melehni my apologies in delaying responding. I’ve been running errands for my boy graduating from school in a couple of days. Thanks again for your support and hope the recipe works out the way you’re expecting. Have you tried using the frozen rolls I think Walmart have them. You just set them up in your baking tin and leave it as you would with the fresh ones then cover and let it thaw for about and hour or so then make a coconut juice and added and bake @ 390°f for about 20 minutes or depends on your oven. I’ve tried it the last time we came over to Utah to see visit my mum and they’re not bad at all.

I made these 3 times now, but i always run out of white dough before the dark dough. I end up doubling the white dough each time 🤦♀️

Do you turn taro over or leave al0ne when with the cream?😅
@@Dejnyt hello 👋 you can turn them around but most times you don’t need to do it as the coconut cream boils it will eventually spread all over the taro. Hope I’ve explained it clearly. 🙏

@@nancyosullivan719 hello 👋 yes they’re definitely homemade puff pastry. In my steak and cheese pie I made my homemade shortcrust pastry at home however I used the shop puff pastry. @@mealswithmilz I was thinking, that if I were to make puff pastry, I would make 3 or 4 batches together. I would think an assembly line would work out fine. The steps aren't very difficult, just a little time consuming, but preparing 4 at a time, one could put 3 in the freezer for later use and use the one fresh one left to make one of your delicious looking recipes! The con is that it could take all day.
@@nancyosullivan719 I agree with you for sure. Making them at home can be time consuming especially making flaky pastry at home. I use the store bought puff pastry at times and double the sheets before cutting them for the top only of the pies. Overall I agree with you that making them at home can take some time unless you have the pastry equipment and the big mixer and all. Thanks again for your feedback and comments. How many does the recipe make?
between 25 and 30 depending on the size you want. You could get more than 30 if you make them a bit smaller.

I must say, your technique is very similar to the so called top chefs so i cant wait to give it a go. I do like your attention to detail which im guessing is just one of the things your mum and her mum passed on to you. I wish I have the equipments like the bakery with all the multiple pie tins and pastry maker but since it’s home cooking 🧑🍳 we can still cook and make home cook pies taste scrumptious as we can. I would love to hear your take on other flavor pies. I have other flavors I’m yet to make when I return and even remake the steak and cheese pie again with homemade puff pastry. What brand of milk powder do you use pls?
@@PatriciaSaleapaga my apologies for the delay in responding. Been off socials the whole day. I used Devon dale brand but you can use any available or without. The rolls are fluffier with milk powder 🙏😊

What cut of lamb do you use?
@@marceladagger5992 in this video I used lamb leg with some chum chops with a bit of fat on it. I sometimes use lamb ribs or lamb flap but I have to cook it first as it can be tough and drain some oil off too as it can be quite oily.
