Extreme Cold Hits | RV Living Off Grid in the Canadian Wilderness
The cold snap this time is better than last year so we can't complain. The coldest this year is only -30C, last year was -36, and -41 the year before.
This time we are so much warmer.
I dont worry about us anymore.
But I do worry. For all the animals outside.
They'll be fine.
It was such a beautiful day.
Thank you for watching.

'You won't have a chance to weld anything, you don't have to learn how to weld.' Is his exact words, but I insisted. I just wanted to try it. Coz I'm curious. There is so much to learn about welding and in this video, I only learned 1% of it.☺️ What do you think should be my first welding project? Any ideas? I think this is the last of the cold after Monday I only get -20C, every year the build gets warmer, next year will be easier, warmer. Still waiting for your new Maximus video. Super easy year I haven't used the Gen since Jan 9th. 30kwh today, looks like another 200kwh coming this week. Try adding ginger and green tea. Oh, cool that's my back up gen, it starts faster than my 9kw. If you ever need parts go through Midland power, they make it fore HH.

Wow, your lowest temp this season is only -20C? Whereabouts are you again? Yah, this year for us is warmer unlike last year, where temp dropped to -38C. The colder it is, the more sun we get during the day so can't complain! ☺️😅

Depending on power draw, then perhaps you could put your Allpowers battery pack in the coop house with a heat lamp every night when temps are lowest. It would mean charging it again when the jenny is running for the rest of the house batteries. I am so happy to see you caring and worrying about all the critters you have.:)

Thanks so much Gary. As much as I'd like to use heater in the coop, it's really not advisable, well unless it reaches down to -45C. They survived last winters temp of -42C without any heat supplement, this time, the lowest is only -29C. These birds really are cold hardy but I still worry about them. If there is a way to bring them all in the house with Solo, I would.☺️

It's an amazing skill to have. I learned it once many years ago, but we are looking to get a small unit and practice ourselves. Our first project will be a small firewood holder to sit next to the wood stove, you should try that. You could put it in the house or in your little cave area.

Please think about and practice safety for every one near you, including your dogs. They should never be a distraction or participate. I love how eager and excited you are learning new stuff. Koodos to the patience and care that Phillippe has as he encourages and shares his knowledge, so you become better skilled. Great job to you both.

Panels, panels and more panels! Most people panel for summer when in reality you need to panel for winter. If you were to spend 1 months worth of fuel on panels you would get by in winter. I made that mistake last winter so I spent the rest of the year buying panels and this year, I've made it power wise being off grid. I don't advise Alibaba. Buy the panels yourself from a local supplier. I don't know your situation but here in Europe 500w panels are about 70€ per panel.

Yes indeed, most comments combine it all. First of all I’d like to suggest D3 and K2 intake, as your body needs if much more in the low sun hours. For Divine even more then Philip. Easy to explain why. Winters are demanding in Canada, but after travelling a lot across the world Canada is by far the best! Then I have experience with these modules and panels. I am installing panels since 1990. The panels that come with it are near useless, only handy for travels. We got extension cords and connected 2 550 watt each panels to the unit so it charges when sunny 24/7 if needed. Use it while you are charging. And plan power consumption in daytime, that helps a lot. Extension cords are about 18$ each so you can hookup your panels continuously. And adjust the angle of your panels with the seasons, plus keep your batteries around room temperature.

My set-up eats 8 of those a day when I use the 2nd heater (-15c soon), I have used the same as 21 of those power stations over 3 days, took 7 hours to charge most of it. We have same conditions, using your 3kw adding 15 panels, $3057 adds 8.2 kw, total 11.2 kw 7.5kwh on dark days. Cold weather batteries Cdn govt uses these for remote stations. 19.2kw for $4500, I would recommend 2 for 38.4kw, can add more to 96kwk, and $2500 8kw 240v@4000w x 2, charge at 10000w with sun. I use 700 to 900w 24hrs a day, using your panels 8kw inverter,11.2kw solar, 36kw battery, 17 to $19k delivered maybe by Feb 5th, I can show you my easy frames to mount 15 panels vertical, no snow on panels, build the whole mount in a day. I just ended a call with Solar online all in stock, and battery bank deal 3995 for 19.2kwh -$500 CAD per bank. My gen fuel cost is $150 per overcast month. Is it worth it? plus you get best service. I got my 1st replacement inverter in 3 days; I might buy it back since the issue was fixed.

Youre having trouble pull starting. I always put my foot through the handle to hold it down 100x easier. Idk about safety wise but its what ive always done. Maybe it will help you if your boot fits. If not put a piece of wood through it and stand on each side, then the saw wont move and it will be easier to pull. You'll get it !!!!

Thanks for watching. We'll look into an alternative and if they are not too expensive, we'll invest on one, just in case.

I like you guys. Maybe ask her to do some arm workouts for a month then let her grab it

Thank you Lawrence, I hope you're enjoying the channel so far. I'm so busy that I don't have time to do arm workouts😅. I'll keep practicing l, eventually, ill be able to start it, no problem.

Buy her a 192tc or something of this nature. These are way smaller than what you have her using

We're looking into getting an electric one or something, if they're not too expensive.

😂 she acts like she doesn't want to learn. Every time she makes her cut it's like floppy arms and. Mabe a smaller saw will entice her more. Couldn't hurt by having her life a 5 pound wait for a little bit to build up some strength 💪 🙌

Thank you Lawrence.☺️ I want to learn of course, it's just a bit intimidating at first, there's a lot to remember. I have to have the strength 💪, next time you'll see me fell a tree.☺️

Thanks for watching Christine. He said he'll get me an electric chainsaw just to make sure. But I won't give up learning about this very difficult regular chainsaw.😄

You can do it, Divine! Eventually it will become second nature. Philippe is a great teacher. I learned something today, too.

I wanted to share something with you, still makes a chainsaw that is spring loaded you pull the rope all the way out and you let go of it and it'll start , just sharing don't mean to tell you what to do at all.

Thanks so much for watching Oscar and I appreciate you sharing your opinion. I will mention this to Philippe. Otherwise, he'll get me an electric one.😄

I have the same problem when starting my stihl. It jerks your hand back and makes it where you cant pull. We must be doing something wrong...i feel like i pull it really hard, it cant be a strength thing...

Thanks for watching and for being on my side, haha! As Philippe said, I may be not pulling it hard enough. One day, I'll have enough strength to pull it.😄

You could also try putting your right toe through the handle to help stabilize the saw and help to start😊

Thank you so much for watching and for the tip! I tried that but since I was wearing my winter boots it didn't help. I will practice more in the spring.
