BLIP! - Buff ALL the Autocannons
มุมมอง 220หลายเดือนก่อน
You know how demoralizing it is to use that Ultra AC on the 2 cluster chart... it hurts so much! Rules are used from the previous BLIP with these added for later eras of play: If the Autocannon uses the cluster chart apply the 2 bonus to the cluster chart result instead of the overall damage. Example: A Centurion fires it’s LB 10-X AC at a Cicada and needs a 9 to hit. Rolls a 10 and hits. Rolls...
Unsung Heroes: SHD-2H Shadow Hawk

A once iconic design that doesn't get the respect it deserves. Let us all respect the mighty Shadow Hawk in all of its glory! Sorry for the 2nd upload. Fixed a pretty bad audio issue I didn't catch.
BLIP! - Buff those Autocannons
มุมมอง 318หลายเดือนก่อน
Just a BLIP so you can make those Autocannons fun. PPC's are for chumps. Autocannons work the same with the following additional rules: When making an attack, if the attacker is successful and rolled a result above the Target Number, add 2 bonus damage to the attack. If the actual target number is rolled, apply standard damage. Example: A Shadow Hawk fires its AC/5 at a Cicada and needs a 9 to ...

Assembling Your Metal BattleTech Miniatures
มุมมอง 4939 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, Adam covers an easy method for assembling metal BattleTech miniatures or any metal miniatures. All you need is super glue and green stuff epoxy. This avoids the complexity of pinning and ensures a solid joint for sturdy metal miniatures. Although not mentioned in the video, it is recommended you give the green stuff 24 hours to cure completely before stressing the joint. If need ...

Congrats on your Gold!
I love battletech my own force is painted with a dark green, copper and silver joints/segments, and streaks of cyan in the look of lightning. NO force uses that to my knowledge and that's fine, even in warhammer you could always paint your own scheme; now with that there are people who generally get too into "You didn't paint it into an official scheme guess we can't play" but that is usually the tournament players. Bottom line I agree with everything you said, the main point of every tabletop game is to have fun. Paint how you want, play how you want, and make friends along the way.
Super helpful. Thanks!
I have my own schemes. I do this for two reasons: 1) As mentioned, they're my minis, and I can paint the colors that I want. 2) It helps me identify which 'Mechs are mind when collecting them from loan. I currently have 'Mechs in several schemes: 1) Brown Pants Legion (yes, the name is an homage, to two things). Camo green top with camo brown bottom. Flesh, Yellow, or golden brown for style markings. This constitutes the majority of my Inner Sphere units. 2) Coromodir Corsairs. Paint scheme of a biweekly campaign I've been playing in for 3 years now. An homage to the VFA-103 Jolly Rogers and Macross Skull Squadron. Yellow stripe up the middle flanked by a black on the side torsos, with the limbs and sometimes outer torso as white. 3) Fetid Claws. My paint scheme of a Wobbie origin. Carapace black is the main armor color with stone grey for limbs and "softer" parts, with Yellow markings and bright Green on the hands/arm barrel mounts. They are the colors I used on the Level II Force Packs, metal Celestials, and a few of the Inner Sphere Mechs I've gotten doubles of. This will be a tertiary color scheme as I'm doing more Corsair colors as either a second or primary scheme when compared to the first BPL. 4) Clan Cloud Cobra. Based on a scheme I was trying to replicate the color of the Cobra. Originally a dark blue top with purple bottom (maintained on metal miniatures) and blue markings. With plastic models, this has been inverted make it look like they have denim pants and purple shirts. I jokingly call them Clan Denim Pants. 5) Clan Hell's Horses. My newest scheme as I start incorporating different combined arms options for Clan units. Charcoal black torso, hands, and feet, with golden brown forearms and lower legs, liked with burnt sienna upper arms and legs, with teal accent markings. This one I will use going forward as I can swap out the golden brown and burnt sienna with other colors to indicate other flames AND be a identity marker on the field. I always get compliments, and I've managed to keep a smooth color. Nothing fancy, but good enough for table top.
I’m here, I’m Comstar. Pay your bills. Also great painting work!
First: There is not a single faction that would not use a captured Mech. Repair ist, give it some field modifications if necesary, paint it, use it. So even if you really want to paint or use a specific unit there is no limitation in what mechs you can use. Second: Why bother painting a very specific scheme? Next time you play as periphery pirates you go and buy another one of the same mech?! Fluff is for people who know the lore and fell in love with a specific faction. If you want to collect a specific Unit feel free to build it. But for casual playing don't spend a second on what has to be (beause there is nothing) just do what you think is nice.
You are a way way better painter than I am. five out of five on all of those as far as I'm concerned 🙂.
7:03 where did you get yellow ocher from reaper? when I ordered yellow ocher directly from reaper, I got yellow oxide. I figured it was a name change for the same color.
Good question! The only acrylic yellow ochre I am aware of is by Golden. Most acrylic paints (including Liquitex) are yellow oxide, which uses an artificial pigment with titanium white added. I don't know if Golden has yellow ochre in their So Flat line, but I do have it in their Fluid Acrylics line. That is a gloss paint though, so you need to be aware of that. - Adam
Reapers 9074 Palomino Gold is a Yellow Ochre with only a tiny bit of white from the paint base.
I got to say that Ostscout miniature from the '80s looks really good. I have a few minutes from that time period, late '80s early '90s, some of them LED some of them pewter. and like you said, some of the casting is pretty good like on the Ostscout and some of it's only so-so. I think that was just the technology or process at the time.
long before Victor Milan added "Golden Vanity" to the Caballeros, I ran a gold chromed Warhammer simply because the whole point was to draw the best of the enemy toward me. Practical? Naw. Arrogant/Effective? Yup.
To be honest, the merc set are the first 'minis' i have ever played with. I still have my box of cardboard mechs with stands... I do not even remember which set i got them with but it was in the middle to late 80s... 😅
I personally prefer using other ammo types to make my ACs pop better. Everyone dogs on precision ammo only getting half the shots per ton, but with an AC/2? You get 45 shots normally, lol. With a 5 cannon, you get 20, so 22 and 10 shots respectively isn't awful when you take into account the average game won't go much farther than 10 turns, and if it has, you probably have bigger fish to fry besides your AC damage.
If I were to change anything, I'd say give it a slightly bigger margin of success to get that damage, maybe tied to the pilot's Gunnery skill. So a Regular 4/5 pilot would need to hit a pretty high TN to get the extra damage, but an Ace pilot with a Gunnery of 3 or 2 would have an easier time getting that big damage.
BRRRRRRRT!
Been doing some house rules for a solaris arena style game running regular for over a decade. We gave magnesium flare tracer shot to ACs that give +1 to hit for AC 10s, +2 for AC 5s, and +4 for AC2s (Half in rapid fire more than 2 shots). Especially works well in intro tech for us.
How about also having UACs, if both slug hit, add a penalty to enemy piloting fall check?
Sure if it works for you. My idea was focused on making Autocannons less vanilla. Energy weapons do flat damage for high heat, missile weapons use the cluster chart, and now autocannons weigh a bunch and get a damage bonus OR cluster chart bonus if you roll above the target number.
Cool idea
I don't paint my mechs in camo, because I'm not good at it. I mean because I want them to pop against the terrain to make the game look nice. Yeah, that's it.
Man thats a nostalgia hit. Great jorb
Thanks! All done with acrylic inks, fyi. Daler & Rowney.
totally 100 percent original western mecha designs
Totally 100 percent original.
The physical design of the Shadow Hawk is good, but its actual equipment is terrible. The default loadout of the Shadow Hawk SHD-2H is one of the worst, even by 3025 standards. There are Light mechs with better loadouts. The Autocannon-5 is heavy and weak. The LRM-5 is to weak too, but also adds random damage of 1-5 is a negative and penalties for firing up close. The has a 2-tube Short Range Missile launcher thats also random. Finishing off the weapons, it has a single Medium Laser. It very oddly had mismatched number of Jump Jets. There's only 3, despite its walking speed by 5. It also had 12 Heat Sinks which is more than enough to keep it cool even while firing all weapons and jumping. Its siblings, the Griffin and Wolverine, have weapons arm-mounted, which prevents them from using those arms for melee combat, and makes the weapons more vulnerable to being destroyed. The Griffin is more vulnerable because all its weapons are on one-side. That's where I mean the physical design. Having your biggest weapons be torso mounted is a great idea. I like the miniatures, but I would replace most of it. Get rid of the Autocannon-5 for either a Large Laser, PPC, or maybe more Long Range Missiles. Replace the SRM-2 with more Medium Lasers. Do something to get 2 more Jump Jets, exchange 1 ton for +66% greater jumping range. That said I actually like upgrading it. To make a custom Shadow Hawk, I use Endo-Steel and Double-Heat Sinks allow more tonnage to to go various weapons. 1 PPC, 2 LRM5-s(1 ton ammunition), 2 SRM-2s(1 ton ammunition), 2 Medium Lasers, 5 jump jets, 10 double heat sinks, and 11 tons of standard armor. One piece of technology I like are MMLs that can fire short and long range missiles. I like to take mechs with SRMs and upgrade them. Using that custom Shadow Hawk I swap out the SRMs and LRMs for 2 MMLs. Surprise enemies with 10 short range missiles, like Inferno missiles.
The 3050 hawk is actually pretty cool. It has an LRM-20. EDIT: Also, it's worth bringing up that all of the weapons on the Shadow Hawk are very easy to find. You can always replace them.
@@TheMemoryCore 5M Shadow Hawk is underarmed at short range and is short on ammo for utra 5 and LRM-20...
Nice new old Design. ❤
Our Tandy computer wasn't good enough for these graphics. I ended up liking strategy games because they required less graphical power. I played games like The Crescent Hawks Inception and CH Revenge and Mech Commander. Still this brings back good memories.
The best thing about Shadow Hawks is their ruggedness, ubiquitous nature, and the other soft factors making them perfect for campaigns. It's weapon set is kitchen sink but that's a plus as you'll always be able to contribute any situation with one.
That music is max memberberry.
My name is Grayson Death Carlyle and I approve this message.
And that, children, is why we always concentrate our heaviest energy weapons in the center torso.
Omg man this awesome old but gold
Honestly the AC2 should be a special case and use the same rules as rapid fire for machine guns, but with a different formula so it could deal somewhere between 2 and 6 damage
With the advent of reinforced armor the battle field scourge of the autocannons shall finally come to an end.
Buff those autocannons!
Gang gang, kids! Let's get it!
Welcome back?
We are working on that. A lot... and I mean A LOT has happened to both of us since our last video.
@@TheMemoryCore glad to see your still around. Hope to hear more soon, on your time schedule.
Agreed do what you want becomes mercenary commander 😊
I just recently bought some clan salvage boxes from catalyst and i like the idea of painting thw mechs i got based on the pilot cards in the boxes, spo i have two options each for the mechs
I have mixed thoughts also. I want to play it a few times before I decide. I like the concept... Wait, the manticore is just a PPC now? ... ... ...
Never knew people were fretting about painting Battletech. Learn something everyday.
Get yo the point
I appreciate the Hell out'a this video.

You may be able to help me with this, I have been trying to find a place to get metal miniatures. Do you know the website where they can be ordered on?
The Iron Wind Metals site has their stuff at least. I think some other sites may too
Unsung because anyone piloting the Assassin wont survive to tell about it?
Animated backgrounds were really good too
I love dives into Battletech like this. pointing out the cockpit on the new catalyst sculpt of the Crab to people never gets old watching brains shatter when it doesn't match the online games, and how much it changes the stance of the mech.
I was hoping putting together IWM models would be just getting some super glue, a hobby knife, and just putting it together....... with no assembly instructions for the models themselves and then realizing I've had to buy a hundred dollars worth of tools, and then realizing I'm still missing some tools or other things, I feel incredibly over my head and super afraid of braking the model or doing it wrong. Now my model kits sit on my table still in the plastic and I have no idea when I'll even try it.
Adam here: I usually don't log into this account as Dan manages most of it. So I would have responded earlier. I am a bit confused by this. What hundred dollars are you talking about? I think that there might be some investment in tools should be expected for the hobby. That's going to be like any hobby. And just compared the tools to, say, military modelling, it really isn't much. I can do a video on the tools I use and what their current prices are, if that helps. But even with plastic minis, you need a knife to remove mold lines. I don't want to be dismissive, because clearly you are frustrated and that is a very real feeling, but it is also simply how it has been for decades and just a skill you acquire. Shit, you should have seen some of the crap I have painted over the years. Pretty grim stuff.
I love flawed and "bad" 'mechs, and its awesome to see such love for the Assassin! I love all the 40 tonners, tho my favourites would be the Clint and the Vulcan
I always say what faction you want to play is basically what color you like.
Played some Megamek against these. 2 heavies and 2 pimped out discobacks (Hardened armor, doubles, and ER lasers) versus a blackjack and 2 Assassins... They ran up to me and started throwing hands that knocked over my hunchbacks and killed my custom heavy sniper with an AC2 critical. They then proceeded to kick the shit out of my last mech's legs until it didn't even have any left while my hunchbacks were spending turns getting up, getting kicked again, falling over and getting knocked out. a pair of brawler mediums and heavy support snipers got got by undergunned heavy scouts and baby's first sniper mech.
I see an Ostscout, I click on the video.
Exactly what I was looking for
I wanted to say the same
