He was my favorite guitarist when I first heard about him being in Scorpions at the age of 15. Then he joined UFO with albums Phenomenon, Force It, No Heavy Petting, Lights Out, Obsession, Strangers In The Night then he rejoined Scorpions for the Love Drive album with songs he wrote and played lead on. Mathias Jabs played some lead on the album but it was mostly Michaels work. Mathias was waiting for Michael to depart Scorpions because he already had MSG in the works. It was a win-win for both Mathias and Michael

I was a big fan and I saw them live a couple of years before this, when they were outstanding, but this concert doesn't quite do it for me. It seems a little stale. I think they had run out of steam by this point, and were going through the motions. I believe Frank was over-doing the booze and tensions within the band were quite high. It was time to call it a day.

Such fantastic memories. Working as a pipe fitter in London, staying in digs on Richmond rd. I came home from a pub called the Hedgehog and Stump, stuck the tv on, and was delighted to find this gig was on a minute or two later. It was rare to see them on tv in those days. Saw them at the Manchester Apollo and the Free trade hall a few times in them days and more recently with John Mitchell a few times in and around Manc. One of the most underrated and undervalued bands these shores ever produced.
