I still reckon rooney was appointed due to his MUFC connections. The brand is massive in the US especially from the ferguson/ beckham era. The game is growing there big time now. Its the reason he was employed at DC firstly as a player and then as a head coach . Its the reason he was employed by birminghams american owners. Was SH trying to help get investment there through rooneys appointment? He did deny it but then he would do, as it would undermine rooney if he admitted so. Anyways, hopefully the forthcoming investment isnt affected in any way by all this.

Sacking managers during the season is a disgrace and should be stopped. The clubs choose their managers and should back them for a season. If it doesn't work out, they can change them at the end of the season.

Argyle must make the right decisions, concerning next manager and coaching staff who have proven experience at this level. Able to teach our players how to defend, which shouldn't take more than a week on training ground unless our players have no football brain, which I,m not suggesting. Also regarding a replacement for rooney if money or nobody suitable is an issue. Put rooney on gardening leave. Appoint from within just like we did with schumacher. Joe edwards was schumachers main man on the pitch/dressing room his whole tenure so would know the playing style and philosophy he brought in. He is also charismatic, unlike rooney. and a proven motivator. He would unite the players and fans alike. Jordan houghton, another key figure in schumachers reign, is also doing his coaching badges as well so could help him. Along with the coaches and DOF already in situ. Liverpool appointed from within for many years to keep their success coming and charlton did similar with players curbishly and gritt appointed with curbishly eventually taking lowly charlton to regular top six positions at the top level. So it can be done. It also worked with schumacher so why not joe 90?

I was surprised rooney was given the birmingham job and aghast when it was first rumoured he was going to be argyles new head coach. I thought all this not just because of his birmingham spell but also as i used to regularly watch MLS highlights on you tube when he was head coach at DC united and his mate phil neville was managing beckhams inter miami. Every time i saw their teams play they were both rubbish and losing regular. DC gave rooney a big budget to achieve a play off place. Which meant finishing top 9 out of about 14. They finished 10th and he was removed at the end of the season. He had a well known and big budget coaching staff which he took with him to birmingham. Nearly every point, goal or assist his team did manage seemed to revolve around big belgian international striker christian benteke one of their big money signings. Well rooney aint likely going to get any "benteke" types bailing him out managing argyle thats for sure. To me h e needs massive player quality to make up for his shortcomings in creating a playing style and team ethos. And he is never going to get that anytime soon at a club like argyle. So thats why he should never have been considered for the position in the first place imho. I also agree with graham about the return of "one argyle" again. At the moment we are "wayne rooneys argyle" and that is something else i hate about this whole appointment. Its not rooneys fault to be fair but his media profile that has created it

I know it got sour with the fans when he left. But if he was interested they should absolutely bring back Schumacher. He was doing well with them before he left, he was doing well with stoke before they foolishly sacked him. Plymouth are not going to get another manager of Schumacher caliber. I wanted Rooney to succeed but he has had his chance. Rooney out Schumacher in, forget about the bad blood, water under the bridge now.
