I read the same thing but you don't really twist it much, only about a quarter turn if that.

I think it's a good idea to use a nose clip while getting used to it (I didn't think I'd need one since I've never used a nose clip before but quickly found out that I do the first time I tried it out). But I think just while getting used to the snorkel and then I can probably put the nose clip away.*
