Why We Upgraded Our Rabbity And A Review Of The Homey Pet Stackable Cages
Yep we had to upgrade. Unfortunately our original hutch system did not last very long. But what we upgraded to has left us wishing we had just gotten them in the first place. Here it is on Amazon.

Only thing I would say or change about this design is the fan should be flipped and be sucking air out for negative pressure. The holes in the top of the dome are are enough for a draw of oxygen being pulled in from the exhaust. With positive pressure, air being forced in, will stir up the spores and dry the mushrooms and block out. The spores will cover the inside of the chamber. You always want negative pressure in your fruiting chamber and positive pressure in your lab.

Great video !! these cages are Awesome, easy for Lixit bottles to attach, love they are on wheels. You Need a "paint" scraper for the trays... LOL LOL SIDE NOTE... cause I just discovered this fact... you don't have to LIFT OUT the grid floor... just lift up a bit ,and it will slide out the front !! which is a lot easier than struggling to lift it up and out past the door... PLEASE DO NOT cut a hole in the divider it is safe and well made and you will probably want to use it again as is..... .Instead... you can get any SOLID material you wish, custom cut, same size as the divider and make a hole in that... OR.... just use a rabbit nesting box to achieve the goal providing mom space away from babies... some people cut HDPE to use instead of the divider to give privacy from their neighbor. FYI the NEW 43" homey-pet in 2024 now have removable "sides" to attach cages together to add cage length and have plastic grid floor instead of wire. Down side is they appear to have done ONE SOLID big tray, instead of the easy to manage "2" separate trays. THEY just keep trying to improving their products...:) Thanks again for sharing the videos !!!

All day looking and reading about systems to do exactly what you've done. I was on Amazon looking for a unit with a hose like you have, but nothing could be found. I'm checking out the reptile humidifiers. I have 54-quart monotubs looking to do some humidity treatments rather than a continuous misting. Good Ideas, with the best-looking chamber. Thank You Jackalope people! I subscribed, hopefully, you let us see that chamber again with your final tune-up. ☺👍👍

I've been wanting to grow Lion's Mane mushrooms in a bucket because I don't want to create plastic waste. However, other cultivators said that for their SECOND FLUSH they cut a SECOND HOLE in their plastic unicorn bag. Obviously I cannot do this with a bucket. Has this ever been an issue for you? Or do the mushrooms proceed to grow out of the same hole? And how do you go about watering your mushrooms for the second flush? Do you DUNK them in water? Or do you prefer just to mist them? Thank you!

Did it work well? I feel like I tried this and failed. The inkbird humidity controller really helped but without it was too much pooled water and the humidifier would run dry quickly. Then, the fan would dry out the cake. Those little pond foggers stink because they "spit" water everywhere. I like the idea of the "reptile" humidifier because making my own tubes wasn't easy or effective.

Do you or anybody pasteurize the aspen wood chips or straw in HYDRATED LIME solution? And if so, for how many hours do you leave them soaking in the hydrated lime solution? Please anybody reply, since not all mushroom species can tolerate a high pH environment which soaking the wood chips in lime solution does. Thank you for your time.

I only just found this video. In the process of making a fruiting chamber. You could try Perlite. Psychedelic mushroom growers quickly wash it, rinse and pour it in the bottom. I believe it does retain moisture, so you could just try using enough for your cake to have something to sit on, so the Perlite doesn't compete with your humidifier. That should keep your shroomies nice and dry.
