The middle man distributors act like they don't have to try. They act like they're doing US a favor by "letting us" buy. Can I rant about nail techs and aetheticians being allowed to buy pro color without a cosmetology license? What do I need one for, then? I did twice as much time in school. And quit selling "salon only" products on Amazon and acting like you csn't stop it from happening.
I will answer this question in a awesomer but in short...not at all I think manufacturers need to up their game and deliver more value and stop over promising and under delivering

Basics for me was over 20 years ago from Goldwell. I’ve never found another brand that wants to educate me like they used to. I bought color I was educated. I’ve been told by a few of the biggest brands that I’ve been referred to that I need to use their color for 6 months. Then, they will educate me...makes me sad that they that’s the business. Sell to anyone breathing. It didn’t used to be that way. Maybe I’m asking for to much. I invest in U. So fucking invest in me... I’ve been searching for over 5 years. Found nothing of interest. If a friend was educating for a company and I could be around or help out in any way I would buy in because of the opportunity. That is getting old for me. I want to be dedicated to an amazing color company?!?
OMG I love the fact that you don’t agree. I was told by salon owners to never divulge my age or how long I’ve been doing hair. Today I would suggest the opposite. Thanks for speaking up
I was told this by many people. After I assisted for almost 2 years. I was always told to tell people that I’ve been doing hair for 5 years. It didn’t feel right but, it’s what I was told back then
Thank you for the chat I’m enjoying. In some of these oh so stupid groups on FB these girls always girls talking about how their clients don’t tip or tip shitty. I’m so bothered by this. I have clients that are great toppers and ones that don’t tip at all. I ask oh so many questions. If your not a person whom tips I discuss this. Then, I know if I need to adjust the price. ISO t find it necessary to tip because I’ve built my prices because I understand everyone is different. Not sure how you feel about tipping... I would love for you to discuss your thoughts
I feel personally victimized!😭😭😭 so true though. I am 100% guilty of cleaning the hair out of my brushes between clients, but not wiping and oiling my scissors...thanks for the truth bomb this morning. Love ya right back brother.

To be honest I am confused on how to brand myself because I feel very eclectic and also I'm really adaptable so I can fit into a lot of categories... Awesome topic Ryan! I was just talking about this and how crazy it is. Shampoo companies are dictating how professionals should be cutting and styling hair. Sure, they can give you tools and techniques but a paint company can't make someone a better artist and a drug company won't make someone a better doctor. it is skill education, talent, and aptitude that make a good hairdresser. Marketing companies are reeling in all the suckers... smh

I like to cut curls when wet better. To me the texture is smoother at the tips when done.
