I own the orange and black 1390 EVO and it’s an amazing machine! I’ve had sport bikes in the past but this 1390 is just in a different league. Spring P08 filter, Arrow exhaust with an ECU flash and 🤯.
What weight are you? I’ve just bought this bike today and would like to try your settings
92 kilograms
@ I’m 70kg just trying to work out suspension settings
Hi, i'm about to bite the bullet for one of those, but I have a question only an owner can answer : in the settings, you have 'assist' and there 'DCC'. In any riding mode you can change the suspension setting and choose one from the list My question is : what happens when you change riding mode after it? Does it go back to the suspension setting of that riding mode? Does it remain the one you choose from the list? Or, does it remember what suspension setting you set from the list in the riding mode you where in, and you are able to switch riding modes with in every riding mode a suspension setting you have choosen from the list? Thx a lot in advance for the info!!
It remains
@@xodas. OK, thx! Behaviour is not what i was hoping for :-( But the same as my 2022 S1000r it seems : when you set susp to dynamic f.ex, it remain in dynamic regardless of the riding mode you choose. I will check as soon as the bike comes back from the dealership. But on the M1000R, as the suspension settings from factory are set accordingly to riding mode (as apposed to the S1000R), it should be possible to 'reset' the link between susp. and riding modes. A little sad the manual is not more clear regarding this. I think I will play a little bit with the showroom bike at the dealership :D
I own a 2022 SD Evo and a 2022 Hyper SP. I have not ridden the 1390 yet but my conclusion between my two is that the KTM is exactly what you say....more of everything apart form a few very important "mores"......I find the Hyper more fun, I find it more stable and less twitchy. I wish the Hyper had some of the features of the kTM but I am not sure there is a bike that can hold up to the Hyper in terms of pure fun factor. I ultimately concluded that the SD was more similar to my Pikes Peak and have decided that the KTM has to go, even as good as it is and as much as I want to keep it it makes no sense. The KTM is almost too much power or at least how that power is delivered but man, the KTM without comparison to another bike is off the charts good so you cant go wrong with either.
I think orange and black both look awesome! I bought the black one. Just had its first service so it’s unleashed!
hardly
As a fellow orange (only choice) 1390 I agree!!! I have had R1's, GSXR 1000's, Streetfighter V4S, Multistrada Pikes Peak, ZX14R, gen 2 SuperDuke 1290R, Triumph Rocket III, Concourse 14, FJR 1300, Z1000, ZX10R, ZX12R... a bunch of other kick ass bikes and the 1390 SDR is by FAR the best of the bunch. It is literally amazing. Checks all the boxes and is an absolute work of art in all aspects. Thanks to KTM for creating this BEAST.
Ok, time to sell my pikes pig and get this, or the gt version, or rc990r, or r9, or sumtin. Now we need to hear more about that perfect car and all that came before it.
yes, so many stories to be told.....and they will be....
Hey XODAS good to see you have found the FUN button enjoy….
have you had any 'electrical gremlins' on that bike so far? I've heard horror stories of the unreliability of the electrical system on that bike....
My 2015 Diavel is the same in Sport Mode. You have to incredibly smooth with throttle management. I just run in Touring Mode to mitigate the hair-trigger response in Sport.
I would be interested to see what your thoughts are on the new 990.
My tuono never had any overheating problems stock or with a gabro stock or stage 3 map, it was weird and Cammy sounding with the OEM race map, I did have an idiot dealer that wasted two of my days though. You probably had a bad engine map.

This review gives me great confidence in the decision I've just made. I Just traded my 2021 Multi 950S with 45k on it for a 2021 Multi V4S Sport Full. I bought the 950 new but couldn't justify a new V4S as they just depreciate too much with the amount of K's I stack on them. I've ridden the V4S on many a occasion and love it. Personally I'd stick with the V4S or go the Rally or even the new GT. Also my reason for the V4S is a pending lap of the big island is on the radar
A pending lap of the big island - there is only one bike for that! Good choice!
Throw an open flash tune on the 1390
@@motoman1996 I will look into that!
Hi mate. Been following and enjoying your content for a while now. Great to have someone with real experience on all the bikes I'm interested in. I have a 24 v4s SF and a 21 KTM 890 Duke. I'm thinking of trading the 890 for the 1290 touring model. Have you ridden it ? Love to know your thoughts in it. Thanks Dean
@@deansparey8490 thanks for the comments really appreciated! Having a touring bike is a must! They are a great place to relax your riding a bit, enjoy some comfort but still have great fun! Yes I’ve ridden it- it’s a good thing but I felt the Multi v4s is better, the pikes peak better again- I would hold out for the 1390 version - i will ride that for sure and do a video.
How are the handle bar vibrations in comparison to V4S? Stay safe. 💪💪💪
V4S smoother bars for sure- but 1390 is not vibey- really no issue there

@@robertmulholland7319not an issue for me- a lot of folks complain about it but just haven’t experienced a big problem
Really enjoyed this
@@Beastriderpav thank you kind sir!
Your clanking and shuttering (on/off issue) is because your chain is out of adjustment. Also, you gotta know what you are buying before complaining about things as compared to other bikes. The PP is no touring old man machine like the GS and other Multi's, it is a performance machine so the windshield is for performance. Now, you can make it more setup for touring with a touring wind screen, taller seat, risers etc. I have done all of those things and just did a mega ride with a buddy on a GS adventure......he complained a lot more than me. So, get your chain adjusted, pump your tires to 38-40lbs to make low speed easier but as I write this I am still listening to your vid. I just rode the tail of the dragon and it is the tightest twisties you can find and the PP was phenomenal. It out ran many sport bikes because it corners so well and moves side to side faster than any bike I have ridden.....sounds like you have a bike with issues because literally none of what you have said is an issue with my bike or two other buddies bikes......take it to your dealer and you might be surprised. Now the one thing that is an issue is the unsteady throttle and that is due to the emissions canister.......no word on a fix yet, check out Rembo's channel, I think he covers a fix for that
Well said - I took it to the dealer yesterday and will report back! Thanks for your comments!
YES.
Yes, de most besterestest commuter bike.
@@volodymyrshoniia2424 more gooderer
This is not only on your bike, the throttle topic is also on my bike however as you said, if you get used to it, your right hand will make the job to get the situation better. Btw in touring mode it’s definitely not comparable
@@christianschmidt8281 awesome thank you- I knew i wasn’t imagining it!
Not feeling the throttle twitchiness. In fact--I sought aftermarket tuning to increase the drive at small throttle openings--coming from a KTM Supeduke GT--mind you. Try the chain tightening tip. Top heavy: Go try a BMW S1000XR in dealership. FEELS 100-pounds heavier, tipping it off the side stand.
@@tomtraynor5384 thanks I’ll definitely look at the chain!
Your jerkiness issue sounds like your chain is loose to be honest. Mine wasn't tight from the dealer and they told me it was within spec, guess they don't know how to measure slack properly on it. You can also add a throttle spacer to remove the initial dead travel. Stock screen is awful indeed, I have a cncracing carbon one and a calsci large windscreen. I can get 200 miles on a tank when I try to be efficient and do highway thanks to cruise control. 200 rear kind of helped the twitchiness, so do the stiffer suspension settings. Would be nice to have a screen with android auto/carplay instead of crapati connect and sygic. No solve for being too big and heavy really. I just try to avoid super tight roads that I loved on my supermoto and lotus Elise. I probably warned you about them things before. You can have my panniers, I still haven't used them, love the top box daily, had to undelete my passenger pegs for the panniers which was annoying. Only got them because they were in a package with heated grips. Just like the center stand that I never installed.
Your comments are always better than my videos! Thank you!
@@xodas. Nuh uh, your videos are great, keep making more.
Can confirm. SFV4s chain slack from dealer. I tightened (TINY turn with c spanner) and problem gone. All Ducs, in first gear from get go or riding through town you need to feather the clutch. They prefer to be above 5k rpm (at least the v4 does) .
@@markholmes5695 thank you sir I will investigate!
@@xodas. also my bloody dipped headlights aren’t …. Well, dipped! Did you alter yours while you had it? I see in the manual how to do it, but of course no mention of how to remove the head fairing 🤷♂️
21 pp and 24 m1000r is my sweet spot
Disagree on one point, I've ridden close to 50 years and my 1290R Evo is very sedate if you set up the throttle response etc. to meet your liking. In performance/track mode it feels like it's on crack (especially with the BT Moto tune I have on it) but if you're in town and set it back to "road/comfort" it transforms into something that feels, dare I say it, docile and willing to lug around.
@@SteveC-Shaman I’m sure that is true- what I like about the 1390 is I can have it in race mode and I still get the two personalities without changing mode- brilliant!
I’ve done 27K kms so far on my 22 PP. I raised my forks another 10mm (effectively lowered the front), run single rider for preload. Using a 200 on the rear instead of the 190 (the wheel width is the same as the Panigale and Street Fighter so no issues there. Apart from that it has the 3/4 Akra system with a Bren tune, custom made to reduce the engine braking. This thing is an absolute beast and I love it.
Did you go 200/60 or 200/55? I dropped the front by 7 (could go 10 or 12 I guess, but then the angle of the bar will be limited with handguards hitting the body work if I have my levers facing down) since I was also going to do a taller rear, and fitted 200/60 to raise the rear more with a stock sized front in rosso iv corsa. + Steering stabilizer. Gotta get some carbon or magnesium wheels. Preload is customizable for any setting in any mode, so not sure what single rider means. Mine just runs wide and handles like a mess unless I have max preload and stiffest suspension settings, only run soft for highway straight line cruise control situations.
200/55?
Have owned three Superdukes and even a KTM 890R. On a Hypermotard SP now. Riding a slow bike faster is more fun than a really fast bike slowish---i'ts proving true.
Yeah - having both a fast one and a slow one is even better!
@@xodas.Agree. “Wife’s” bike is Ducati Multistrada Pikes Peak. Faster for sure but a bit big. I’ll be watching for the Superduke GT 1390. I have determined I am a try-er of bikes.

I was expecting some stretches of technical twisties in addition to the mostly straight pavement. I have a 950 SP and I ride mostly on technical roads in the mountains of redwood forests south of San Francisco.
@@Ramon51650 gotta take what I can get…
I've been extremely satisfied with my M1kR, especially after adding the BT tune last week. I've had a good experience with BT, they even sent me the tune on a Sunday and have replied to every question promptly before and after purchase. Unfortunate to hear some others haven't had the same experience. Part of me wonders who all is just parroting what they read online or who actually had that experience. I rode the KTM before dropping my hard earned American pesos and its a great bike. I just couldn't get over how refined the M felt and went that direction.
@@AByonder the MR is wicked! I love mine- the KTM is just more engaging
Excellent conclusion(s) 😎🍻
Yeah quite clear cut
Where are you riding? I can tell it's on Sydney, just not sure where. Look like some glorious roads.
West head - up near Terrey Hills
Great video, looks like an awesome area to ride. It was a toss up for me as I said before . Ultimately I went with the Ducati SFV4s in grey over the SDRevo 1390. Both insanely good bikes. Engine platforms on both are epic. What won me over was Ducati reliability (since Audi took over) over KTM which are unfortunately plagued by issues (all minor, many warning lights etc) which at that price point is not acceptable. Also, build quality and finish on ducatis is IMO more premium. Some of it was the clout factor too, even people who aren’t into motorbikes stare at the Streetfighter (and are forced to hear her. Loud Bitčh😂) Never ridden a hyper but sat on one and was blown away how light it was.
Hi Mark - the Streetfighter was awesome- just too much for these roads!!!
Everything vs everything part 3
Haha you are on to me!
@@xodas. Now more pikes peak comparisons for me. Just got mine back yesterday with a fresh set of rosso IV corsa in 200/60 rear and tpms sensors now. Too bad they couldn't figure out what's wrong with my electronic suspension light/code, at least it's stuck in permanent hardest, and the preload adjustment still works; they think something is wrong with the fork electronically.
@@xodas. Ok, after slaying some canyon roads with the current setup on 200/60 rear IV corsa and front lowered by 7-8mm (some people do 10, but I figured I'd go a hair less since I was also doing a taller rear) and steering stabilizer I don't know why they don't do this stock. So much better in every possible way (grip, braking, trail braking, front end feel, stability, agility, ability to get on power without squatting and shaking) other than the initial tip in which takes a bit more effort with a 200 compared to 190, can offset that with some lighter wheels of course. The only downside is I was forgetting about the amount of ground clearance and grinding my toe sliders, especially on the right side where that dual pipe akra pushes my foot forward unless I have it super vertical or have the back of it hang out to the outside. Also, the suspension fault went away and all works as it should now 🤷♂️
Yessir! Another W for the KTM. Nice. I must say I agree. Haha.
Was a fun weekend!
