A7 II is not a video camera. That should have been clear right from the start. It outputs line-skipped 1080 which utilizes only every 6th pixel of the sensor, so the image is very soft in video mode. In terms of photo, it blows the iPhone out of the water or however English people call that. :D With the A7 II in video mode, you really have to know what you do. It is not appropriate for "run and gun" videography or wide-angle shooting to show a scene in general because the amount of detail in the 1080 footage is just too low. You should use it for video at 50 or 75mm with a dedicated subject to put focus on, at best probably blurring out the background with a low f-stop lens. Or you have to be relatively close to your scene, that works well, too.
