I am Japanese and live in Tokyo. There is a lot of information uploaded about the city center, so if you have time and want to relax... take the JR train, Showa Memorial Park 昭和記念公園 in Tachikawa is spacious and full of flowers. There is also a corner where you can see Bonsai. There are many ways to access it, but "Nishi-Tachikawa" is the closest and it is right in front of you. If you want to experience nature even though it is inconvenient, there are further mountains, around Hinohara Village 檜原村 and around Lake Okutama 奥多摩湖. You will be surprised that this is Tokyo? "Yama no Furusato Mura"山のふるさと村 is a nature park and also has a visitor center. "Tomin no Mori" 都民の森 has a therapy road, trecking can see waterfalls, a bird watching hut, and woodworking experience. It is better to start moving early in the morning. If you want to experience the countryside atmosphere, there is "Kuro-chaya"黒茶屋. It uses an old Japanese house and you can eat river fish. There is also a coffee terrace where you can drink while looking at the river. It is about halfway between Hinohara Village and the last stop of the train, "Musashi-Itsukaichi Station". There are bicycle rentals in front of this station, so if you are physically fit, you might want to try it. Just one thing, please don't cross your legs in tight spaces.
