I built a similar car but suspension is WIP, but I also found it easier to drive over uneven ground and large bumps by building the front and rear separately, and connect them with either a single non friction pin or a swivel piece in the middle of the car. Hope this helps!!1!

i made a working prototype of the second engine with another one stacked right under it (180 degree offset connected with chains or gears) which takes the exhaust of the top engine, its great i think you should build one but be sure to change the crankshaft to be 2 studs instead 3 and put it 1 stud higher on the piston's axle as the timg would be messed up!!!

If you want to build a different pneumatic Lego train, try connecting the piston to the wheels like that of a regular steam locomotive.
