Z06 is bad ass. Different animal, then a stingray. However, i like the sleeper effect of base models. I went Stingray, but i couldn't afford z06, and that's probably the main factor, to be honest ð

The weather wasn't ideal for the run I believe they need to run it back in the spring The driver even admit that he wasn't pushing the car as hard as he could I believe it was because of the weather conditions
1. How does this make sense? 2.what was the goal here? 3.who is this for? 4.what is its purpose? 1. You want a Full on GT3 racecar from Ford and Multimatic, transaxle and all but back fitted with all the street car stuff. its very difficult to pull off ask AMG why that carbon tubbed F1 car AMG 1 is still 3800lbs wet. 2. Make the fastest best looking track oriented Mustang ever, but still street legal. And per Jim Farley make it look as good as the GT3 race car. 3. Its for rich people who love Ford Mustangs and love race car technology and this car is packed with it, the dry sump is so crazy. 4. its purpose is to be one hell of a car, rare, beautiful, fast, capable of lapping the ring very quickly, and still a full size mustang. Its not for someone who is looking for the fastest ring car.. why would you get a full size sedan for that? Fast ring cars are a dime a dozen in Germany, guess what after the novelty wears off nobody cares.. go there and rent one. This mustang is a rear beast its got style, its got panache.

A $70k Stingray or $110k E-Ray with $25k turbo kits have been making 1000WHP for almost 2 years nowâĶ itâs simple math at this point.

The 8 speed is because itâs a trans axle transmission. Not behind the engine, better weight displacement

@ shorter gearing is always better in track racing, save some money when high way driving by lowering the rpm , and wear and tear on the engine.

The C6 or even the C5 corvette chassis could of broken the sub 7 minute barrier over 15 years ago. They just needed more power, stiffer bushings and suspension, more aggressive alignment, active aero, and modern tires. But good on the Ford for finally catching up. Make cars light again.

The C8 Z06 can definitely do 6:40's, Chevy and Ford really need to go again. The Z06 and GTD are both a lot faster than the trash times they got so far.
@ the GTD, I believe itâll do better with another try on a freshly cooled down car bc superchargers and constant throttle for 7 minutes = abysmal IATs. The C8ZâĶ idk about that one. I donât think that car does what we all believe it can do with that same transmission. It needs a short gear version of its 8 speed DCT with a much shorter 5th gear. The gearing in that car is for a big torque kinda vehicle like the ZR-1. Z06 doesnât have enough torque to pull through its gears, all the power is too far up top in the rev range
@@elijahprasad7884 the C8 did 7:10 that was both magazine and GM times. This car is well over 4200lbs (think GT500 with very expensive heavy suspension add ons an much lighter body panels)
@@twistedneck The 7:10 was a testing lap, not an actual official GM lap. Only magazine did that, GM themselves can go a lot faster.
8th gear is for gas mileage. Like you said there's nowhere you're really going to get into the meat of that 8th gear besides the long straight on the nurburgring. On the street and most tracks even you're not using that 8th gear.

It's nice to see any American car finally do a sub 7 at the ring.. We have always done well in a straight line and this is an accomplishment.. I think it's petty to attack the car just because it's a Mustang and not a dodge or chevy.. And just because it has the Multimatic trans in it doesn't make it any less of a Coyote variant Mustang.. I'm looking forward to seeing what a ZR1 can do. It would be nice to see it do a sub 7 too..

@@AYO_KO i doubt it. vettes have their own inherent problems which is why the z06 did a 7:10. the zr1 with the ztk package should be faster as it'll have a better suspension, the immense power should muscle through the long 5th gear, the wing is bigger for more downforce but it'll have a lot of drag and no drs. the front will still have uplift due to no vents in the wheel well. vettes are good on shorter american tracks but the ring exposes them.

@ I donât doubt your credentials but I am not simply looking at the lap itself. Iâm looking at the big picture. 6:57 at the ring is impressive!! Yes!! Just up until 11 years ago, production car sub 7 minute runs werenât even a thing. But when you consider GTD price $325k MSRP, its competitorâs times, its competitorâs prices, and then factor in the GTDs timeâĶ itâs more than fair to say the GTD missed its mark of trying to take down Porsche. Thatâs what Multimatic said their goal was with the car, I didnât make that up. Based off this current run, unless their targets were 991 and 991.2 GT 911s, then Iâd say itâs safe to say they missed their target. In terms of buying, Take markups out the equation for pricing and then you realize this GTD at MSRP costs $100k more than a 992 GT3 and GT3 RS at MSRP and most definitely is not keeping up with them on this particular track. Those are all facts that I simply make mention of in this video.
@@MrTL3wis given that they were shooting for the gt3rs (or even the amg gt black series) it's not a success. jim farley issued a statement saying they're not satisfied. the main problem is the heavy factory steel chassis and doors, the car is about 3800 lbs.

Farley said sub 7 and he got it but we all know he expected 6:42 based on what the GT3 cars would run (simulated) Car is actually super capable but would need to shed weight to get to the low 6:40s.
This is simply the greatest Mustang ever produced . Get as mad as you all want . There not done yet . Mark my words , this car will get into the high 30 low 40 second range there next time out . The car and the track has more to give and the driver they chose was scared . He not only admits it but you can clearly see it when he is setting this record . There are many turns he slowed too much for and he was braking to early off the straights . You will see . This car is way faster than what everyone thinks . They need to get that guy that ran that ridiculous time in the electric hyper car to drive it . Even Misha would be a good choice I think . Ford had to detune there GT3 significantly to run in Lemans . This car is no different . Once they fully unleash this thing , it is going to upend the entire industry .Ford knows what they are doing . This is a sports car setting super car records . Regardless of the manufacturer . It they have just begun . Remember what happened the last time folks scoffed at Fords racing heritage , lol .

Who cares if you can get a GT3 for cheaper, its not a Mustang my friend.. and you can keep it. This car is bad to the bone, you should see one on the street.. special. I respect Porsche, but if you are buying based on lap times get a used BMW and tune it and go 6:45.
A sub 7 second run on the Ring has never been done by an American car maker. So a really good accomplishment. I look forward to improvements in the lap times going forward.

@@AYO_KO I don't believe for a single second that the Ford GT is faster around the 'Ring than the ACR. If Viper had used proper tires and had manufacturer support it'd easily run a sub-7 lap time (probably low 50s), especially with Cup 2R tires.

For me, this wasn't impressive either. I expected more after all the development and in present company that has done a lap time. Think all cars that beat its time are cheaper and less powerful. Ive also been wondering what this car is for
@@andrereaves2712 weâre on the same page!! For $325k MSRP (which people probably wonât get) is STEEP just to not keep up with cars from 2-4 years ago, let alone big time cars like SVJ, GT2 RS MR, or AMG GT BS
@@AYO_KO think the Viper ACR would have done better with a proper suspension setup. It suffered a tire failure on its lap attempt and wrecked. The lap by the GTD would have been impressive back in 2016 when the Viper attempted it. Look out for GM re-running the Z06 and a run from the monster ZR1(though I expect it to be really terrible, it has to much power lol)

But itâd be an absolute menace going into the back straight and high speed sections!! The ACR Viper is just an all around more impressive feat of engineering just due to how minimalist it is. This Multimatic GTD was hyped up like the AMG ONE but ran a time that couldnât even come close to the AMG GT BS that also ran in sub optimal conditions

gtd is just ford wanting a mustang at le mans and homologating the tech to be legal. anyone that can get selected by ford to buy this probably had faster cars previously, and for the price , likely has another faster car if they want to, they will be a ford collector. any sub 7 is an impressive feat, but a mustang isnt the sliperiest thing, might be fighting drag, or be built for endurance over speed also a 918 with modern tires and maybe turbos would be a completely different time. hopefully zr1/zora will make a good track time for america but for now the gtd is fast enough to be taken seriously, if not winning in lap time outright

@@obrien0119 for all things considered, the price (starting at 325k before options and markup), competition, and the 6:57 Nurburgring time in 2024 is actually not that impressive. An old analog 6MT Gen 5 Dodge Viper ACR ran a 7:01 in 2017âĶ a 645hp/600tq lightweight rocket built by Dodge. For perspective, a 750hp, 7 speed ISR, 4,000lbs Aventador SV ran a 6:59 in 2015. So comparing it to even those two cars, the racecar/multimatic bodied, 800+ Hp, 8 speed DCT âFordâ GTD could barely get a full 4 seconds ahead of a Viper but wanted to challenge GT3 Porsches?? Ridiculous.
@ brother there are only a handful of cars that have gone faster. NONE of them were American cars. Literally... EVERY car that has gone faster retails for more in some cases double and triple. Just because some of these records were made in 2016-17 whatever doesn't mean that marginally faster laps today aren't impressive. Its more a testament to the fact that the tech hasn't advanced enough in that time to make monumental gains. It may never even reach that point. In short there is an upper limit to track times and anywhere in that 6min range is nearing that upper limit. So its still a brain dead analysis.

I could say the that being amazed by the Multmatic GTDâs 6:57 âbc itâs Americanâ is short sighted, narrow minded, and almost delusionalâĶ but I prefer to believe every option has its place. At the end of the day all the cars we could name, that have actually gone faster than the GTD, and even the ones that have come close (Viper, Pista, Aventador SV, etc.) were actually produced by said companies. Porsche didnât get MR to hand-build their lap record cars, Lamborghini didnât have VW create one-off factory freaks to get records, AMG didnât do that with the AMG GT black series (canât say that about the AMG ONE bc thatâs on Multimaticâs site as well), plus any enthusiast in-the-know knows a McLaren 765LT, Senna, or Senna LM could easily run a sub 6:50. Ford getting multimatic to do this was a weird move at best, taking advantage of another companiesâs feat to hopefully boost sales and brand interest is crazy.
you dont think some of these other companies are collaborating to produce these cars or outright having them completely engineered and just building them. Say you know nothing without saying it. You can't Compare GTD to any other normal sportscar oder even super sportcar. Gtd is street legal track car (barely) like GT3RS. GTD produces more downforce than GT3 RS. 825hp is huge number. Its 300hp more than porsche. 300hp is the power of 335i BMW, which is a fast carâ I amprettysure, that the GTD is even faster than 1060hp ZR1 on track. Beating a Huracan, Ferrari etc. Isnt that impressiveto me.@obrien0119

@@bernardoberner4 Wrong. The 911 GT3 RS (closest competitor to the GTD) is a PRODUCTION LINE Porsche, Manthey has nothing to do with it. It is built on the standard Porsche 911 Weissach line by regular Porsche workers. AMG was bought and absorbed into MB DECADES AGO, it's just a badge now. The GTD is not built by ANY Ford employees, past the body-in-white stage. It's literally hand-built by Multimatic in Markham, Canada. It has very little in common with a standard Mustang. It even has a rear transaxle along with bespoke carbon fiber body panels, suspension, steering, etc., etc. A few interior bits from Ford give the tinsel of the car being an actual Mustang. Educate yourself before you spout off the next time.

The Z06 is a track car. Itâs meant to go around the track at 170 mph. It doesnât need that much torque. Look at the GT3 500 hp 398 torque. These arenât drag cars. (The ZR1 may be one). You guys have been drag racing too much. Thatâs not what Ferrari or Porsche does, and this Z06 is a Ferrari and Porsche fighter. Not a hellcat fighter
The dealers can talk all they want. The ZR1 is going to be a compromised Z06/Z07. So I donât think youâre going to see the markups like on the Z06. Theyâve already said the zR1 has a softer suspension. So the traction control is probably going to be scarified. The ZR1 has proven before that more horsepower isnât always the answer.
How is the handling compared to the crew motorfest or forza? Is it similar, better or worse?
@@Quontez I definitely feel like Iâm actually on the ground in the beta, keep in mind itâs an old build. Forza, I just feel like Iâm ice skating with decent skates. The Crew feels like Iâm on the surface but extra weighted. As of right now, Iâm not saying TDU SC handling is the best out of the games you named, but it definitely feels like Iâm on tarmac.
