Still going on today! Divide and conquer! Bastards
proper wildlings these people.
Spent millions renovating the whole area and it was back to a shithole within a few months.
Nash ya radge. x :)
Sad the way people were treated.
Watching this on Jan one 2025. This programme was made 40 years ago and its very similar to easterhouse with Frankie Vaughan. The problems start with high unemployment which leads onto many more bad situations. All these years kater its stil the same all over many areas of Scotland. Lanarkshire, Fife, Ayrshire ( look at the programme the scheme ) and Lothian. Coalmining, ship building, steel making all gone and not replaced. Just think 40 YEARS ago.
I was in nursing school in 1984. I graduated in 1986 with my Master’s degree in Nursing. There is hope you just have to do your best. Mum and da made all us, kids get college degrees. God Bless these families .
I HAVE NEVER MET NICER PEOPLE IN MY LIFE. YNT GOOD PEOPLE AND STARVED OF FUNDS THROUGH CORRUPTION OF THE SAME AS TODAY. SNP. ""YELLOW BENT AN STICK TOGETHER IN THE BUNCH. GOMLEY ?? I WONDER IF THEY PRODUCED YOUNG SCOTT WHO THOUGHT HE WAS A FOOTBALL PLAYER 😅😅😅😅. BEST PLACE IN EDINBURGH GO THERE NOW ITS BEAUTIFUL.
Edinburgh was always a dump and still is
My late brother was a 'screw' and at one time he lived in Niddrie, which is next door to Craigmillar, and when I used to go and see him I felt heart sorry for the people of this area, because deep down, they were decent, caring people, who deserve better than this, and as human beings should be entitled to a little respect 😢💔🙏🏴
Tragic.So sad for these souls.😢
And in 2024 now it's all new houses the north east council office give the houses to migrants, it now looks like the middle East just the way the council want it
Absolutely and it's begining to be that the houses are given to others before the indigenous people. I know I have a friend who was rejected for a house here.Yet incoming people from god knows where are given house's immediately. It's time that people Wakened up.
To be fair not many people from Edinburgh wanted to live there. They are doing the same with run down areas from Glasgow to Ayrshire
Good 👍
@@longshotkdb as long as people keep there kids indoors they should be fine
@@longshotkdb 🤣🤣🤣
I remember delivering to the Blindcraft factory there in the 90s. Nice people, but security on the gate . The nearby houses were getting demolished and I remember the people said they were pulling down the wrang ains😢
"The children break into houses because they have no clothes" - and kids think they've got it tough now.😂😂😂
I think that group of boys all had the same daddy they all looked similar 😂
Deek like us Niddrie bred historical Border Romanichal Gipsies. x :)
The council may have replaced most of the flats/shops/schools etc but the place is still as rough as a strip of Sandpaper.!, I know I worked there for years until recently, crime/drugs/teen gangs probably worse now than its ever been minus the glue sniffing I think and hope.?, the place does look better now though.! The buses can't even go through the main road on the 5th November every year for teens throwing fireworks at the buses.! I call it Crackmillar nowadays.!
The age of innocence
How remember s herbies 19:17 motors in the wisp greattimes

Holy shit. Amazing footage. Is it alright if i use this video for a comparision? with credit of course
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 This here just broke my heart 💔 the community the people the families it had its bad sides but was a great place to live and be brought up till the council ran all the money out the place
Fuck sake a young Betty Elizabeth 😅
I love that guy with the ornamental garden, hes got a great approach to life
Auld Scooby on the mooch ,😂classic.
Second song from 4:36 & randomly throughout is a cover of James Taylor's song Fire And Rain.
I was born in 3 hay drive across from the store I went to niddrie mill primary and all the shops along the front.street brilliant place when I was young it's just a shame the way things happen there is a lot of good people in niddrie
Councillor Ralph Brereton, another out of touch, rich politician, so not a new phenomenon 🙄
Great to watch and a thankyou to John R Nielands. My family lived in Newcraighall. and worked down the coal mines. My family were all called Nielands. So i would lay odds we are related.
❤niddrie best place on earth, grew up with it looking like that, that was normal to me, they ruined a good community by pulling it down now it is awful, don't know anyone there no more it's full of foreigners
Livrd in one of these then 66 my mum got moved to niddrie then 67 got new build in magdaline ,loved a coal fire but the conveint heaters in every room was fantast then it happened in 89 or 90 ,

@12:27 - I bet you that coat's fake or robbed ! >:D
I don't understand this "Nothing to do so let's commit a crime" mentality - I've been unemployed/ bored / depressed .but I didn't go and smash someone's house up.
11:03 - WTF ?? Look at that chain and padlock on the emergency exit doors ! Someone should have pointed it out to that copper, that is a serious breach of safety regulations !
Note the white/silver rim on the peak of that copper's cap to denote his rank.
LMAO ! A Scots guy commented on here, and it has auto-translate into English ! :D :D
"The Gormleys" ? >:D
Wow ! No offence to the people living there, but what a shithole !
The coments lol, big us up, we was um.
Couldnt drive like that now ..its all stop start and traffic lights
13:03 The lost song "head so numb"
Possible lyrics: ...when, but my head's so numb and my mouth...
Still a dump
The song is called “Pinewood - Run For Home” (1979)
The song at what timestamp?
@@MillardFillmoreProductionsNo, there is one song at 13:03 that I and many others have been looking for for a while.
timestamp?
These days Craigmillar is a shit hole.
Edinburgh the biggest Tinker Experiment in Europe.x
Hello all GRUFF kids. Many years have passed since we did our amazing project together in 1995. Hope you are all well. Best regards, Kim
Is there a digital version of this version of Run For Home?
I think this version is original to the film, the singer here is actually singing the songs in the film.
@@De19thKingJulion what film?
@@jcorsen the one we just watched, mate.
@@De19thKingJulion link?
@@jcorsen No, I don't mean to say there's another video, I said this very video we both are commenting on, as in: THIS 1978 mystery music film. I believe the covers of RFH and F&R are original to this man in this film we are watching. This man is a key to finding ANY digital copies of the songs if they exist at all
Born in hay drive it was the safest place to be for a child because everyone looked out for you, we where all the same people no airs and graces no trying to better each other we were the same because we all had fuck all,the sense of community has long since disappeared.
Met a few folk from Niddrie-Craigmillar and they all say the same. They looked out for one another. That, despite it being reputed badly, it was one big family..
