Camino for Everyone
Germany
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 พ.ค. 2021
I think everyone who wants to, should get the chance to walk one of the many Camino routes that stretch across Europe, ending in Santiago de Compostela. Our videos will assist you in allaying any fears you might have, especially if you are older and doing something like this for the first time. I will try and answer any of your comments or questions.

Which Way???? Ah, Those Yellow Arrows.
A multitude of signs and yellow arrows point the way on the Camino. They vary widely and it is fun to find them.

I will list in order as they appear, all the places and towns I slept in walking from Porto to Santiago di Compestela in April, 2024. 2* means I would recommend and stay there again 1* means I would recommend it, but it just wasn't for me for one reason or another. BC means reserved with booking dot com. All the rest were reserved by emails and I called all of them 1-2 days ahead of time to con...
What did I Eat on the Portuguese Camino, April, 2024
มุมมอง 619 หลายเดือนก่อน
I tried to take a photo of all the meals and snacks I had, though since there were a lot of doubles with the breakfast pastries, I didn't post all of them. I walked from Porto to Villa do Conde, then switched to the Central Route. The only communal meal was at Casa Fernanda, and we had a delicious and fun dinner and breakfast. The Camino Frances offers a lot more opportunity for communal meals ...

Walking into Santiago de Compostela from Milladoiro
มุมมอง 1369 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was my last day of the Camino Portuguese, only 7,7km from Milladoiro. The Albergue here is fantastic & a really great place to stay so the walk from Padron isn’t so long. Comfy beds with curtains, linens & giant towels. Good cafe right next door A lot of the walk was uphill today but fairly gentle. When we got to the split, we went to the right, opposite of Wise Pilgrim. It was a pleasant ...
Day 16, Walking From Padron to Milladoiro
มุมมอง 779 หลายเดือนก่อน
Last full day walking as tomorrow is only 7km into Santiago. A bittersweet day saying goodbye to some lovely, new friends. Enjoyed the Albergue last night & got a good nights sleep. The walk today went through lots of small villages & beautiful forests. It was a lot of steady uphills though. See ya all tomorrow on the way to Santiago!
Day 15, Walking From Tivo to Padron
มุมมอง 519 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was a lovely albergue & I recommend it. Linens, towels, pool, huge garden, meals all day, & friendly staff. Breakfast was included. The walk today was supposed to be 20 km, but I gave up at Varga & took a taxi. Too many hills for me & I was aching from yesterday. My phone says I walked 20km anyway. Though none of the hills were extreme, there simply too many of them. Lesson learned? Don’t ...
Day 14, Walking From Ponte Vedra to Tivo
มุมมอง 669 หลายเดือนก่อน
Had a great night at D Paso. One of the best nights sleep so far. They have wonderful mattresses & pillows. A group of us left shortly before 7, & found a cafe that had delicious, hot croissants. We all sort of stuck together the rest of the day. That was a good thing for me. Without this kind of support, would have never made it all the way. This kind of support is so helpful. The walk itself ...
Day 13, Walking From Redondela to Pontevedra
มุมมอง 889 หลายเดือนก่อน
Nice night at Casa da Herba. They had wonderful sheets! Today was a hilly day, up & down, constantly. By the time I reached the town after Arcade, my phone said 12km, but Camino Ninja said 12 more to go, so tossed in the towel & rode a taxi into town. Cost- 18€ . With sightseeing & going out to eat, ended the day with 16km. Pontevedra is a pretty large city! Lots of stores & cafes. Staying in D...
Day 12, Walking From O Porrino to Redondela (plus taxi)
มุมมอง 1199 หลายเดือนก่อน
Pleasant night at Fonte Albergue with helpful, friendly hostess. Walked around 8 km to Mos with plenty of gradual ascents & housing. Lots of road walking. At Mos, had the cafe call a taxi for me. Took this to the edge of Redondela & got out to walk some more. I knew I would struggle too much with the hill today, so a taxi was better for me. Cost was 18€. Checked in to Casa da Herba. showered, d...
Day 11, Walking From Tui to O Porrino (plus bagpipes)
มุมมอง 769 หลายเดือนก่อน
This started out to be a fairly easy walk but it went too long for me & got too hot. The last 1.5 hours had no shade & were only road walking. Was really glad I took the alternative route through the forest tho it was about 1km longer. Only 2 cafes today. Make sure you have enough water. Didn’t pass any fountains either. There were cafes in O Porrino of course. Staying at a cute albergue tonigh...
Day 10, Walking Valenca to Tui, Rest day.
มุมมอง 829 หลายเดือนก่อน
Great evening in Valenca with new friends who have all moved on because I wanted to stay in Tui. Super Albergue, Hostal Bulwark. Great beds, free breakfast, best location. Had a lovely walk across the bridge into Tui. Pretty old town, lots of cafes & my albergue is peaceful & cool. Got a single bed for 15€, rest are bunk beds. Breakfast for 3€ starts at 05:00. A pilgrim dream! Last photo is all...
Day 9, Rubieas to Valenca
มุมมอง 799 หลายเดือนก่อน
Had a great night at Casa Sao Sebastian. Really varied paths today that were fairly stressy. Ranging from Roman roads, lots of mud, plenty of cobblestones, roots & rocks, & hills. The walk today was supposed to be about 16.7km. By 12:30, it had gotten quite hot & though my phone said I had walked 13km, Camino Ninja & a cafe I stopped at said 6km more. It was taxi time for me. 6km cost 11.50€ Lo...
Day 8, Walking From Ponte de Lima to Rubiaes

Ponte de Lima was so pretty & wish I would have had more time there. The walk across the bridge was lovely. It was an interesting walk today & of course had to take a lot of photos & video. Hope you enjoy them. Part of the walk was a bit scary for me with the rock walk along the water. The high path with all the waterfalls was beautiful but also an area where you need to watch your step. Not a ...

Thanks for your informative video. I am planning on getting this same bus. Prices seem to be more expensive if booked online. Can you purchase a bus ticket for the following day from the machine or does the ticket have to be used that day?
Hi, I really don't know. You might want to ask on one of the forums or FB pages, or ask at the albergue you are staying in.
Reminiscing today. Just love your videos.💞
Thank you. So glad you enjoy them. I watch them again too, as it is fun to remember what happened each day.
How much did your taxi cost from Astorga to Rabanal?
Oh gosh, I have no idea. That was 2 years ago.
What a peaceful and beautiful place❤
Yes, it is. Hope you enjoyed the video.
I love the bed on the open verandah.
It had to be freezing out there though. It was freezing in the room we were in. I liked the atmosphere here and the meals and hosts, but not so much the sleeping part. It was too cold to even shower.
@@caminoforeveryone9169 oh no!
Wow it all looks delicious.
A lot of it was. Personally, I found the food better on the Camino Frances.
Wow, we didn’t go into the cathedral in Porto-so beautiful with all those tiles 😍
Next time!!
Congratulations and jolly well done, Jo. You planned this latest camino beautifully. Made me think that I could do it too. Thank you for sharing.
You could! Short days make it possible
@@caminoforeveryone9169 And thoroughly enjoyable.
Woohoo!! We’re cheering for your last stage! Bom Camino!! 🩷
You all are the very best!!!
What a pretty town!
Yes, it was
Wow, good job. 20 plus km would be pushing it for me these days.
It was really pushing it for me too! Weather was pleasant & support from the other women got me through.
I'm glad that you are taking care of yourself! And I'm enjoying each day's posting.
Thanks!! Appreciate the commnts.
Didn’t think I would ever want to walk another camino but you may be changing my mind. What a lovely walk you’re having!
There have been pretty moments but honestly I prefer the Camino Frances. Too much road walking & going through cities.
@@caminoforeveryone9169 Ahh I can understand. The videos look lovely though.
Wise choice and good on you.
Thanks
You missed the best part! Lol. Where did you call a cab? We needed a cab desperately! We stayed at the same place. Enjoying your videos
At Codecal. At the cafe across from the chapel. A taxi brought someone there & I hopped in. No way could I have walked up that hill.
@@caminoforeveryone9169 it was very tough.
What a nice camino!
It has been pretty good. No complaints. Weather has been perfect. Only 1 day of rain.
Jolly good idea to send your gear ahead on a day like this. I’ve made a mental note to do the same. Yet another good choice of accommodation. Looks delightful.
It was fantastic. Had such a fun evening
Lovely, Jo! I knew that I would enjoy this. 👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them
Nice bro,❤❤❤
Um, I am elderly lady, not a bro.
Thank you for the great advice. I'm doing my first camino in August. The Portuguese.
Glad it will be helpful to you.
Well done! Nice place to stay.
Yes it was.
Thank you. It sounded windy. Were you cold?
Sorry, I just saw this. It wasn't cold at all, just windy.
I loved the municipals on the Frances. This one looks really good. Beautiful scenery today, Jo.
It was quite nice. For 10€ linens & towels & a good kitchen. We had 2 showers & 1 toilet for 8 people. Place was full.
Love the view of the ocea
Yes, it is gorgeous
Hey Jo! Great video! We are finally in Porto. Will head out tomorrow. Porto is so beautiful!
Hope the weather is good for you.
You do inspire!
Thank you
You always choose good places to stay! This one looks very comfortable. I like the curtains over the bunks.
It is fun finding cool places to stay. It is one of the advantages of booking ahead.
👍
Good job! Bom caminho.
Thanks!
Awesome Jo, thanks for sharing, my friend wants to do this, on her own this yr, how far do you walk per day, and what about breaks?
Check out my FB page, Camino Jo, and have your friend join some FB groups for women. Camino Confidence, WOACA, Camigas. Have your friend watch my videos
Are these private albuerques.
Yes. I did not stay in any municipals this time. Roncesvalles and Santo Domingo are run by confraternities I believe and I did stay in those 2.
you can see how the Basque influence increases and the Frankish influence decreases as you move westward
Not really sure what you mean. Am not familliar with either of these references when it comes to architecture. I know when churches are Romanesque, Gothic or have Moorish influences, but that is usually due to their ages and when they were built.
you've done the compilations of beds and sunrises, now do one of piles of shoes 😲
People do not put their shoes or boots in piles, they line them up neatly in rows on the shelves provided. Not sure I have enough photos to make a film of them.
Very nice video. Thanks! Just to clarify, two stars means a higher rating than one star, correct?
Yes. You are watching my video from last year. I have a new one that I just posted earlier this week. Have you watched that one too? I stayed in some of the same places
@@caminoforeveryone9169 Yes, I just found it. It is easier to match the pic with the place! Again, thanks!
@@davidconley4726 I wish I was better at editing so I could put text on each one. The daily videos show each place a lot better.
Love how every place was unique and full of character.
Me too! It is why I chose many of the places
@@caminoforeveryone9169 Definitely good choices.
What did you do for footwear when in the rooms, not on the paths? Did you wear sandals, shower shoes, slippers?? Always carried your own or were some provided?
I had some shower shoes, that I would also wear with socks to go out, but not long walks. Often went barefoot or just wore socks when hanging out in the albergues. Nothing like shoes are ever provided. One is lucky to get a towel and sheets.
Fantastic! Great going! And with all those videos👍Thanks, Jo, it was great to walk with you. Mary, Declan & Patrick 👣
It was wonderful to walk with the 3 of you so often and to share meals and stories.
Amazing. You got the best seat in the house.
Yes, I surely did.
Thanks for bringing us along on this trip!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting so often.
Brilliant video of the Botafumiero. Thank-you so much for sharing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Glad you liked it. Lucked out yesterday. 2 tines!
What a lovely way to end the camino. Well done, Jo. I’ll miss your daily videos. I’ve enjoyed them very much. Thank you for posting every day.
I will be posting more videos about walking Caminos. I have appreciated all your comments!
Thats a different albergue. Haven’t seen anything like that before.
Run by Germans.
the graffiti on the marker says "you taught me the way and together we will reach the end"
That was a big day. Lucky you had a booking so you didn’t have to worry about getting bed.
Why I booked all my nights. No stress Camino.
We used to call that a big towel night. Big towel nights were always a treat.
are you seeing any tour group buses going through?
Oh lots & lots of tour buses. A bit annoying actually
Done those steps and now I’m a road walker as well. 🤣
Ahh, getting close now.
Gosh, that’s not too good, Jo. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thanks. It took a while to totally get over this.
