Lovely peaceful.just found you.
But it is Christmas.
Hi, thanks for your comment. I’m just mindful that some folk don’t celebrate it. But for you & me, Happy Christmas 🎄
enjoyed your podcast H, just parceling up some looms and you've been keeping me company today x
Aw, Ali, thats so lovely to hear. Hope it can be in real life one of these fine days. Best wishes xx
@ that would be lovely - coming to Swansea soon??
Thanks dear Helen for another lovely look into your world 😊 I really enjoyed seeing your beautiful kits and the embroidered stitch markers are just exquisite! I’d love to order some of your yarn but I need to knit from my stash for a while before I can allow myself to 😉 and thank you for the lovely footage of Tenby and your snow covered garden ❤ We’re just into Summer here in Tasmania and it’s quite warm today but we’re expecting rain in a couple of days which is always a relief! I’ve been enjoying watching The Mousie makes podcast, Belle and Stitch and Crafty Cleggs. Plus if you want to watch an Australian one I like the Mindful Melbourne Maker. My current project is making a new outfit for my granddaughter’s Dorothy Mouse from one of the books by Louise Crowther. I hope you have a successful market and a wonderful festive season xx
Hi Elizabeth, it’s so nice to hear from you. Thank you for the viewing recommendations, I will definitely take a look at them all. I had a ‘Melissa Mouse’ as a child, and made outfits for her too. Am sure your granddaughter will be very happy with your makes, that such a special gift for her. Happy Festive season to you too. xxx
You are lovely! No need for professionalism. Organic and real is the best.
aw, thanks Patricia, that's so sweet of you 😊
Ooooo!🫶🏼
Such a cozy episode!!! Will you be at VKL again this year? If so will you have the Maxine kits with you 👀

The wool museum was fascinating, glad to see this kept alive
Hi Helen, you live in a beautiful place with lovely view. I was able to visit North-Wales this Summer and it was also gorgeous, I loved it. Thank you for sharing the footage of the Wool Museum, it was very interesting. I also prefer to knit with non-superwash yarn. I feel it is getting more popular, it seems that more and more people are becoming aware of its benefits. Have a great Autumn!
Hello. I've just found this channel. I'm from North Wales, we went to the Wool museum last Friday on the way home from the Gower. It was very quiet. But amazing
Hi Helen, wow what a gorgeous top and a beautiful colour of wool. What is the namè of your wool? Love Joan from Nottingham xx ❤
I chuckled at the “periodic chart” for sheep breeds - I’ve never seen this! I’d love to hang up a copy of it - it’s a handy way to understand the various breed properties!
@@jennifermugridge3152 it’s great isn’t it? Maybe British Wool has copies?
I love her designs, i have a few of them in my library , hopefully I’ll get around to it next year
Another enjoyable episode Helen and I also very much enjoyed your discussion on your website about ‘proper’ wool 😊 Like you, I also much prefer real wool (and am enjoying using your yarns) and when knitting in superwash (for a family member who has skin allergies and cannot wear untreated yarn), I am always glad when the project is finished. In defence of this family member, I should add that it’s not because she doesn’t want to go the trouble of handwashing, it’s because she can only wear wool if the scales have been removed. So although I’m not a fan of superwash wools, I do think it is better than using, for example, a yarn made from acrylics/plastics. Anyway, as I said, for me it’s ‘proper’ wool all the way and I love your passion when talking about your yarn ❤ Sending warm wishes x
@@Susimakes thank you so much for reading the blog and for your comments. Very interesting and informative. 🧶
Good morning
Thank you, another great vlog. I Read the blog yesterday which was thought provoking. I have used super wash for baby blankets and for scarves for older family members who are less likely to hand wash. Personally I love hand washing woollens as I love the smell. But it was interesting to learn about process of getting to super wash ‘wool’. I do hate knitting with it as it has no substance and does not feel ‘woollen’ but it also has a place. I look forward to the rest of the blogs. I have read a few anti test knitting comments recently but like you I have done several this year. They are great for challenging your knitting ability and making you knit outside your comfort zone. My next one will be a gansey for Birllin Yarns, I normally knit cardigans or jackets.😊
@@Knitsweaveswalks thank you for your comments. Glad you enjoy nsw too and test knitting. I read some poor reviews of test knitting as well but all the ones I’ve been part of this year have been hosted really well by the designers and testers have been respected and acknowledged for their contributions to the design being tested. I’ve been lucky that all the patterns have only had a few typos here and there up to now so pattern has been easy to follow. Happy knitting 🧶
Thank you Helen for sharing your lovely yarn and knitting 🧶 the visit to the yarn museum was very interesting and so fascinating when it comes to telling the history of a locality. Last year we visited our Australian National Wool Museum which is in Geelong, about an hour away from Melbourne. It tells the history of the wool industry here, the conditions the farmers worked in and had a brilliant area full of all the old machinery used in the woollen mills- of course most of this would have been transported from Britain by ship - so very interesting 😊
@ thank you Elizabeth. Nice to hear you have a wool museum too. Fascinating aren’t they. 🧶
The winter treat box sounds so gorgeous! Also absolutely love your cardigan Helen. Looks so nice with that dress 😍
@@RachelBearn thanks Rachel, it was an easy knit. X
What a lovely podcast, I so enjoyed it. Thank you 😍 The scenery is so amazing ( I knew it had to be UK before you spoke), we used to go to N. Wales a lot when I was a child and how it rained! The rhodedendrons on the mountainsides were a glory to behold. I now live in the driest state on the driest continent - S. Australia and the weather is warming up already. We've been promised (threatened) with a long hot dry summer I just subscribed 😘Xx
It does indeed rain (lots) here in West Wales! Hope your summer isn’t too hot, thank you for joining me here, best wishes
What colours of dyes do you get, and which parts do you use in Wild Carrot and Purple Loosestrife? They are considered very invasive here in Canada, so I thought it would be fun to use some of them in fabric and yarn dying.
@@sew_So_beautiful hi, thanks for your question. I use the leaves, stems and flowers of the plant. They both yield greens and yellows. I have since dug up the loosestrife as I didn’t want it to take over the plot!
cute❤
stunning colour combo🧡
wow these look beautiful! I see some very classy items transform out of these classy romantic colours❤ love it!
Glad you like the colours, thank you so much
I've watched a couple of your videos, but only just realised at the end that your based in Llandovery! I've visited the area twice in the Autumn and it's such a beautiful area and Llandovery is a lovely village. Last time I was there I bought a wicker basket from the market which I store my yarn in. I plan to visit again (I hope) before the end of October, so I will drop into your shop and say hello if I do. :-)
Hi, it is a lovely town isn’t it. Not my shop but they do stock some of my yarns along with other natural wool brands too. Well worth a visit. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely bloomin lush. If I could only ever knit with one yarn ever……….🫶🏼
Thank you Clare, I’m so happy you love it so much. It is a lovely yarn if I say so myself 🥰

oh how wonderful!
The garden is very interesting, were you able to buy all of those dye plants at a garden centre? I love the crochet squares top, very summerery x
Hi, thanks for your comments, the plants bar the Yarrow were grown or purchased from a specialist nursery.
Hi, what a beautiful garden! And i love the crochet top, made from squares❤. Can i ask where do you get your madder plant from ? I have been trying to get madder seeds for my new dye garden , but unsuccessfully. I live in Ireland. Thanks
Hi Micheala, thanks for getting in touch. I got my plants from a local grower. Hope you can get your hands on seeds somewhere near you? Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Hello 👋
Enjoyed your video. Love your crochet top. Can i ask what colour the wild carrot gives and the purple loosestrife? I have both and am enjoying natural dye process with different plants. Your dye garden looks great - mine needs a major weeding!!!!
Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Wild Carrot makes a lovely pale green whilst Purple Loosestrife makes tan and greens. I have taken out the loosestrife however, as, although not classed as invasive in the UK, it can take over the garden somewhat, which I do not want. I have planted Hedge & Lady’s Bedstraw in its place.
Such a gorgeous video..I have some of your lovely yarns and I adore them. I recently knit a little shawl for my godmother in a colour called foxglove
Ah, thank you Orla and good to hear you love the yarns too.
I live on the coast in Maine USA and loosestrife isn’t allowed to be sold on the east cost states as it’s invasive. But it is lovely
Hmm, well I might have to rethink this plant in that case. Don’t want it taking over the garden. Thanks Linda
