Thank you so much for this.
Thank you for a very helpful video. Besides, could you clarify for me what were "the question" you had mentioned since 10:08? Are they the questions in the end of each case study which are asked by the examination setter? I'm still confusing this
Thank you!
I found your video extremely helpful. Thank you!
Awesome tricks, love your content <3
I am doing my assignment for an aboriginal unit in Australia, your video is awesome and has given me some insights on continuing with my work. Keep it up!
Super helpful video thank you for making this :)
helpful
Best professor I met
Great advice.
Thanks Neil! Much appreciative!!!
This is so helpful, thank you
really good video, thanks very much
Super helpful. I really had to challenge and push myself rather than going with the easy surface level analysis.
I'm starting my undergraduate thesis and this still really helps!! Thanks
Very informative video. Many thanks. I need to know the next step after application submission. what is "Fellowship Application Builder Cohort 1"? is this important and a must to enroll in the cohorot?
Hi @hasimyar9580 - I would recommend reaching out to the HEA directly about this one :)
Thank you for these valuable tips! You are really a talented communicator Neils, Kudos to you !
Thank you for watching @_dally! More coming soon. I wish you a very rewarding dissertation journey :)
Big thanks from Somalia, as I'm about to prepare my dissertation from the university of Salford you showed me all the steps to avoid condensing at the last minute.
Thanks.
Thanks for sharing.
I have to do a case study analysis in the form of report. Can I use personal pronoun ‘l’ to create argument?
Hi @prachitkatolkar2283! Generally speaking, unless the piece is an explicitly reflective assignment, it is more appropriate to use a more passive voice (e.g. 'this report will suggest that') instead of using personal pronouns. The latter runs the risk of diluting your academic tone, as we are more likely to offer personal opinions rather than pushing ourselves to provide evidence-based academic judgements (which the passive voice naturally encourages). But as ever, do check with the module leader to see their preferences. Good luck with your report!
Any sample you could provide?
thank you your videos are so helpful <3
Hi Neil, I study remotely only with apps and books and it was really inspiring listing to your Videos because it felt like you are speaking to me😅...now I go back on my case study to rock it. Thanks a lot. Keep going!
Hi Joe! I'm so happy to hear this! Good luck with your studies and if there is anything else that you'd like to see on the channel just reach out :)
Really useful tips
You hit the nail on the head. Looking at the website, I was definitely feeling overwhelmed. This video was the cheat sheet I needed to stay with and begin the process. Neil, you were crystal clear. In fact, it felt like you were holding my academic hand! lol 🤗😎🤟
I'm so glad to hear this! It can certainly be overwhelming to start with, but with that bit of narrative behind it, the whole process becomes much clearer and simpler! GOOD LUCK with your application, and get in touch if you need anything else! :)
❤
Nice

Thank you! I had no clue how to do a case study. This video helped make sense of what I needed to do!
Hey Dr Neil! Lovely to see your face and hear your voice. Useful ideas here for 'disappointed' managers too, I think. Do hope you're well and not missing Bristol toooo much! Cheers, Kelly @ GCB
Kelly! So nice to hear from you! I'm glad this resonated, and looking forward to coming to GCB next time I'm in Bristol. I'll be playing at the Exchange on the 30th September :) Hope you are all well - continue to follow (and consume) your amazing progress :)
Amazing knowledge on literature review
Wow that was amazing! It’s my first time writing a case study analysis and I’m sitting here wondering “where do I even start? What am I supposed to do?” And this video has really lined me up and fired me off with some solid direction and creative ways to become amazing at this. Thank you!
You are so welcome! I'm delighted that this is of help to you :) There will be lots more content coming up in the next couple of months - so if there are any areas that you would like to hear more about do let me know. GOOD LUCK with your work - you've got this 👊
Same, I feel a lot more confident now that I have a based line of structure.
A huge thank you and respect to you for making this series of videos! I have my dissertation about Logic and Games (Comp Science) this year and I am starting now to prepare for it. I'm so glad I found your videos. I was so overwhelmed when I first read information about the dissertation in my student handbook. But your videos made me relax and believe in myself. In the past, I had a really traumatic experience with my thesis supervisor when I was in the IB Diploma Program. It made me feel stupid and since then I've been suffering from a long depression and not believing that I could achieve high marks because I was always looking back thinking that I couldn't do better. This mentality decreased my grades in my recent years of uni. However, now I feel really motivated to do my best and pass my dissertation with excellent marks! Thank you again for such a great guide! Have a great day!
Wow - thank you for taking the time for this amazing feedback! I am so pleased to hear that it is helpful for you :) Already your dissertation sounds very exciting (I wish I was in the field of Logic and Games!) If I can be of any more help please do let me know. You've got this!
Thank you!
Thank you for the motivation and such a piece of valuable information!
I'm so glad to hear this! Do keep in touch if there's anything else you need :)

@@neilscommonroom7313 Where can i contact you?
This is extremely helpful. Thank you very much
You're so welcome! Please do get in touch if you need any further help :)
This is great advice. Sadly I've been guilty of using 'you' will definitely be changing that from today! Thank you! 🙂
It's a tough one, isn't it Moya? There's certainly place for using 'you' and 'I' at times (as it increases that 'personal touch' which is something we're simultaneously trying to build!🤦)... but if it's delivering 'bad' news then it really can get in the way of the message being seen and acted on. I've noticed that it also 'feels' much nicer (and easier) to write :)
Very helpful video - simple advice supported by clear examples
Thank you, Nick! It's also something that's surprisingly easy to bring into our feedback practice once we're aware of it... a seemingly minor reframing with big impacts :)
super helpful, thank you!
So pleased to help, Emily :) Good luck with your project!
Great video, just what I needed.
Best of luck with your work!
This is so true Neil, thank you for making a strong case for a modest but full of quality feedback! What is your view on in text commentary?
Hi Jana! Great question. The primary hygiene factors for feedback/engagement are that we are both 'thorough' and 'specific' in our commentary. I tend to find that this is particularly straightforward 'in-text' because we can point straight to an area (e.g. "This is a great example of XXX, because YYY"), making it more difficult to be generic (e.g. "generally speaking, your structure is XXX"). The temptation can be to overload with these mini-comments though, so using the PEEL technique is a great way of making sure that all of those comments hit home, and help :) What have been your experiences with in-text comments?
Thank you so much
