Thank you, Linda! I purchased a book this year with appliquéd blocks and have been actually afraid to start a mess up my beautiful fabric. Your tutorial has given me the confidence to begin the quilt!! Have a great day!!
Thanks very helpful ❤
I only recently found your channel, but have really enjoyed your videos and so glad to see another of your episodes even though this one is seven months old as I'm watching it. I've ordered your Whisperlite and can't wait for it to arrive! Wish you had many more episodes as I so enjoy your gentle voice and way of teaching. You are the only one I have watched that does a recap at the end and I love this little extra you do.
Thank you for this video!
Just found your channel and love it! Also just placed an order for some of your Whisperlite and looking forword to it arriving so I can do an applique quilt. Love your soft, gently teaching>
Very helpful, thank you for the video!
Thank you for talking about whisper lite. I always have to do what I’m not supposed to do and I really want to make a collage quilt that will actually be used as a quilt. I want to make it out of hand dyed linen fabric scraps (as you know linen is a nightmare to work with but the fusing should help!) but I’d like to keep everything as soft as possible. I want the quilt to look worn and loved (I swoon when I see those old fashioned quilts with all the ripples and worn edges!) Thank you for taking the time to make this video and help those of us who do not have a quilting group near by to learn techniques from. You tube is a life saver!
This is awesome!❤
What is the mat that you are working on?
Hi Ruth, it's a pink cutting mat if that's what you are referring to. I think it's an Olfa mat made in pink for breast cancer awareness.
Good morning from the Canary Islands. First of all, thank you for your wonderful tutorial. I am new to this fabric appliqué thing. Could you Can you tell me the exact name of the interlining so I can buy it? Thank you very much. ❤️🌹
hi, so sorry for the delay in responding to your question. The product is called Whisperlite tracer foundation and you can order it from my website or my Etsy store. www.thistledownquilts.com or www.etsy.com/shop/planetpollyanna Thank you for asking and I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial.
You are just delightful to watch!!

So glad that you are going to try this appliqué technique - you can do it!
Love that she showed all the final stitches options at the end! (Also LOVE that wavey background fabric - really pretty!)
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I wish I had known about this before I made the Alphabet Quilt about fonts for my adult son. I do love hand sewing but sadly my t thumbs are now arthritic so this method will work much better for me.
Thank you for watching and for letting me know that this will help you with appliqué in the future.
i JUST ORDERED THE WHISPERLITE IN 1 YARD INCREMENT AND 2 YARD INCREMENTS. THANK YOU FOR THIS.

That is simply beautiful ❤Ty!!❤
Thank you! 😊 Its a fun technique.
New subbie!! You have great videos. Thank you
Thank you! ❤
thank you so much !
Always Great To Hear About New Products. I Have Always Used Light Interfacing As The ” WisperLite”. Never Knew Something Non-Melting Existed. Thanks For Sharing!!
Thank you but you have to use only low to medium heat to iron Whisperlite - too hot an iron can still melt this.
Wow!
I love your tutorial! I learned so much. Now, I can start my first project.
Wonderful! Thank so much
Bravissima
Lovely video. Can I just say, your voice and intonations remind me of Bob Ross ☺️

I KNEW there had to be an easier way to applique without all that goopy glue or sticky starch! I have placed an order. Thank you so very much.
Thanks so much Becky, I hope you are liking it.
I’m new to collage quilting and found this video to be very informative. Your techniques are very easy to follow and look forward to starting a collage quilt. Thank you!
Thank you, Julie, for making my day. As a beginner, I am overjoyed. I stumbled upon your channel when I did, I will definitely be following you in the future along with your past tutorials. I JUST ❤ IT.

Wow, I love this appliqué technique! You are a great teacher; I love that you include so many bits of valuable information during your tutorial, very educational. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial! ❤
This is video is extremly helpful. I just purchased Whisperlite from your website. Do you have any videos on applique and reverse applique techniques for more intricate shapes like letters?
Thank you so much! I will keep the suggestion for a future video.
This is by far the best tutorial I have ever seen, and I have watched a ton of these videos. Thank you so very much for such a detailed step by step explanation of all the different ways to stitch appliqué. You are definitely a phenomenal teacher.
I agree with everything you have just said, I was only going to repeat word for word thank you ❤
Wow, thank you! So happy you found my tutorial useful.
I really needed this video and especially the last application of appliqué and whisper lite. Thank you!❤
Glad it was helpful! Thank you
Can you do a video on how to design your own pattern on draft paper? Enjoyed the video
Great teacher! Thank you
Thank you fabulous idea
Good technical information about the use of the sewing machine, but which model do you use?
I am doing your technique with a pattern. It looks so nice and it’s fairly easy. I’m sewing on the cut line then turning. The pieces turn out smaller, how do you compensate? Do you add 1/4 inch or what? Thanks!
Hi, how much smaller are they becoming? You do not need to add a quarter inch as you do that after sewing when you cut it out. Make sure you are not stitching towards the inside of the line and you should use a 60 weight thread or a 50 weight at most.
@@thistledownquilts I’ll check the thread weight. I’ll send a picture of the project to your website.
What a wonderful tutorial, thank you. I just was gifted a ton of fabric samples and fabric book samples. I can’t wait to get creative. Thanks again 😊
Have fun getting creative 😀
I love all your fun tips!
Thanks so much! 😀
Thanks for the tutorial. Now I know the reason why my quilts are never true to size. I have a Designer One as well. Just curious what the hooks are for on the back of the machine?
You’re very welcome 😊 yes I’ve had this machine for a long time. Those little hooks are for holding the cord of a small led light that you can attach. Very observant 👍
I like the idea of the Edge. I used to have the Viking #1 decades ago. Great machine!
Yes it is a good machine 😀 thanks for watching
you are an excellent teacher!
Thank you! 😃I’m glad you found the tutorial helpful.
Helll Linda how do I find non fusible whisper lite?... can't find it anywhere, everything is iron on?
Hi, Yelana, you can find it on my website at www.thistledownquilts.com Thanks for asking 😀
Hello. I am new to collage quilting. I have been sewing since 7th grade, when moved to U.S I learned about quilts, latter in age 30 I learned about collage quilting, what a beautiful idea. Your videos are amazing, step by step instruction, no rushing with words, no skipping steps like others do. You are amazing! ❤.. Thank you so much! Can't wait to make wall art! 😊
Thank you for sharing your quilting story and for the kind words. 😀❤️
This video helped me so much. I am new to appliqués and I couldn’t decide on my method but you sold me to your side! Lol just awesome thank you so much
So happy the tutorial helped you with your appliqué! Thank you 😀
Thank-you, I love your technique for appliques. I'll be back!❤
Thank you Linda 😀
How do you do tiny pieces like a chicken beak?
One way would be to make a larger piece with the beak shape at one end stitch it with this technique. Then turn it and then trim away all but the small portion at the the beak end.
@@thistledownquiltsI came to ask the same question!
I’m excited to try this method! Thank you! Is there a reason to leave the cut small? 😊
Thank you and you just want to have enough Whisperlite to get a hold of and turn to the back. On large appliqués I usually cut it away after turning and pressing.
@@thistledownquilts Thank you for answering! I meant is there a reason to only cut a small slit or can you cut a large slit to make it easier to turn?
@@nanasloves oh sorry, yes you can definitely cut a larger opening. Whatever works best for you. 😀
@@thistledownquilts thanks again. 🌼
