Super review of these patterns, my first time on you channel and I enjoyed it.. As an 'old' person, who was knitting when the vintage patterns you mention were first published, in my experience these patterns weren't size inclusive. You usually had a choice of small, medium or large and that was it.
So funny, I am knitting with that Hobbii alpaca silk as we speak. Knitting the Lily frill sweater, holding it double with drops kid silk. Absolutely love the yarn and this combination too. I chose voor 17 for the alpaca silk and a very light blue for the mohair. Curious to see the end result of all your current wips ❤
Ooo if you want something all over cabled, I’m working on the Grayling vneck from Magdalena Parker (Knitonomy) right now and I def recommend it! It’s so addicting to knit
Loving your design, congrats! I should knit one for summer! And the video about gift knits will be interesting to watch as well :)
Definitely know what you mean about becoming less of a monogamous knitter. I feel like I have been casting a lot more things on recently and having multiple projects going at once keeps me from getting bored. I like the Daliet blouse for the vintage knits, though the Antoinette blouse does look more unique (and more of a challenge?). As a budget yarn enthusiast myself, would love to hear more options, maybe outside of the Drops range (if you can find any)? Loving all the purple knits 💜
I looove the Clair Blouse! It would look super cute in the kfo purple unicorn! Also, the first, cabled blouse would be adorable! 💗 For the affordable yarn series, i think it would be really useful to know how the yarn wears, ie does it pill, is it itchy, does it shed a lot etc
I'm working on Knitting for Olive's baby bear bonnet as a gift for my friends baby girl 😊 I'd love to see the budget yarn review including Drops yarn because everyone keeps using them but they have very mixed reviews. I feel like your reviews are very in depth, you talk a lot about fiber content and how the fabric behaves and I love that. Most reviews are "it's a nice yarn, it's soft, 100% worth it" or "hate the yarn, it's peeling, never again" so I'm always hesitant to knit a whole garment just to find out that I hate it after it's finished 😢
thank you for watching!! let me know what you’re working on while you watch :) would also love to hear your thoughts on the budget yarn reviews and the vintage blouses! 🤍🤍🤍 happy knitting everyone!
Demure? 😂 Maybe chic and classy are better descriptions to these looks.
Lovely picks!
ohh i loved this round up
Love your podcasts. You’re so articulate and thoughtful. I’d be most interested to know what kind of studies/career you’ve done. Anyways - have you tried yarns that have a possum content? Just mentioning it after watching a previous episode where you say you’d like to try angora but don’t know if it’s accessible. Possum blends are so soft and light and might be an option worth considering. Popular here in Nz.
KnitPicks has an undyed angora yarn. I think it’s called Bare Hare. I don’t remember what weight it is, maybe fingering?
All the patterns here are gorgeous. You have good taste ❤
thanks so much for the great video! literally the most tasteful 😗👌 selection of patterns ever!
lovely selection, some are already on my wish list and some are now added to my wish list.
You look like Rory Gilmore !!!
I’m in the comments only to look if’s only my impression hahaha
@@diamantina2609 lol she does!! She’s gorgeous!!
As a soft gamine I would love to see you explore flamboyant gamine knits!! ❤ always love your content!!
I knitted a dress for myself three years ago and it has held up really well! I knitted it with mercerised cotton yarn so I don't know if wool would be worn out faster.
You are literally iconic for this title. And, "demure, cutesy, mindful," came from creator Jools Lebron, and she uses it in a more sarcastic and playful way, that this aesthetic is more about challenging norms, quiet feminism, inclusivity, and being bold and totally yourself.
That is really interesting thank you for sharing!! I never knew where it came from haha but I still hope the video works in that case!
I've had a knitted allover colorwork dress by Marie Wallin for about 10 years. I've been wearing it throughout all winters, no issues at all. (I used Rowan Felted Tweed, which is a VERY delicate yarn.) But of course I only store it laying flat, not on a hanger. Also, no cycling with the dress to avoid bulging. And handwash only :)
This is good to know, I’ve seen so many knitted dresses that I love!! I got nervous because I was reading about some different people’s experience but some dresses are so pretty it would be worth the risk :)
Martin Storey is one of the best designers in the world,. The pity is, he has been working for Rowan Yarns uniquely, so he hasn't been recognized as other world-known designers have. I love everything by him, such a reliable source of everyday, wearable patterns.
@@ingeborggroth1415 it can be so hard to tell who is who when I see these yarn brands post patterns, I saw his name but I wasn’t sure who to credit so now I’m glad to know who created the pattern!! That pattern is so cute and I need to look at his other works
Joanna Ang has been living in the Netherlands since 2009, no mention of Japan in her ravelry profile :)
Oh whoops I think I saw that it was available in Japanese and assumed, my bad!
Moving to a country doesn't change your ethnicity
This was such a fun roundup! And the patterns were so so cute 💕 That scalloped wrap cardigan is everythingggg
@@blank.stitches I love it so much!! Thank you wiktoria <33
Natalie Pelyhk is one my my fav Ukrainian designers, and I think most of her patterns come in all sizes both for kids, men and women which is so inctreddible. Beautiful selection of patterns 💓
@@nikitinaknits I was looking through her work and I saw basically everything was available in kids sizes too! That is so ambitious, I could never hahaha. Thank youuu ❤️❤️
fun round up, enjoyed this video!! that sweet cuddle cardigan is to die for!!! 😍🤤
@@morganunraveled thank you Morgan!! ❤️❤️
Angora wool is horrifically unethical and abusive towards the angora rabbit
It really depends on the brand, for example Fonty brand is very strickt with their approach, and they have the french angora breeders certification that guarantee animal welfare, so I guess we just need to check who we are buiyng from and make sure the country is well regulated
@@lucyb1802 I see that looking into it, good to know! Sorry about that, it’s not available anywhere where I live as far as I can tell so I’ve never interacted with it!
@@truesummerknits no worries at all - it was helpful to jog my memory and look into it again. Beautiful basic boatneck pattern btw. Love the podcasts!
Ito does mean yarn in Japanese, I googled it😊
@@melissalampman7214 hahaha thank you that was a spur of the moment realization on camera 😂
My favorite pattern from today is the Rowan pattern, Skylark. Looks awesome & added to my ravelry favs. Thx for suggestion. I’ve been watching you since your 1st video!
@@goowoomoo I’m obsessed with that pattern!! I can’t wait to get around to knitting it at some point. Thank you so much for watching and sticking around!! ❤️❤️
Thank you to the commenter who pointed out the audio issue, after about 29 mins the audio is mono and is only playing out of the left channel (so may want to use your left earbud if you’re wearing them) so sorry about that y’all!! H thank you for watching! P.S comment and let me know your fav pattern from today :) ❤
I don't know if it's just me, but the audio seems to be missing from the 29:29 mark until the end.
Hey I’m not sure, it’s fine on my end as far as I can tell?
Are you wearing headphones? I think after that point the audio seems to have exported weird and is missing from the right channel. Idk why that happened! But if you switch earbuds that should fix it after that point haha
That's exactly it! I was wearing one headphone.
@@zirzon123 so sorry about that!!
You could probably make a bralette out of that blue silk
What if you mixed that bright purple with a gray color to mute it down to a more summer tone
hahaha I can't... Good Talk!!! 🤣
I guess you could try the holst garn brand. They do have some cheaper yarn like the supersoft base or the coast base.
easy to fix that bulky sweater neck bind off: undo the bind off you did and do the stretchy bind off - which is knit two stitches together than put that stitch back on needle and repeat - knit two together etc.....Just a thought. Lots of tutorials of how to stitch a bottom up sweater together too.
for the rowan i would mayby do accesories like scarf, hat or mittens, . Mayby you could knit a different kind of slipover? You could also use it for a striped sweater or colourwork sweater
For that purple yarn: what about a scarf and matching hat + matching set for a friend, husband, mother? Edit: I mean the first purple yarn, the muted one (lol, you had another purple after the first one).
@@vrijrein I definitely will do that at some point to use it up! I’m just so bad at getting myself to use yarns that aren’t pretty colors lol. That’s why knitting stuff for my husband can be so hard, he just likes brown 😂
@@truesummerknitsoh I recognize this so much 😅.
I love watching other knitters stash videos! Mainly because they're well organized and know what they have, I just have a box with yarn 😅
@@lucylemonless2913 haha despite how it may seem I am the least organized person ever 😂 my craft room is such a mess but the corner where I film looks good
Hat and scarf set for the purple rowan yarn ?
@@mhairicameron9764 I just never wear those items (never cold enough here lol) and the yarn is very beautiful so I’m hoping I can make some kind of garment out of it. Might make some kind of slipover or sleeveless top eventually 🤔
It would be helpful if you put the links down for the patterns. Thanks 😊
You are so lucky you can wear so much lavender tones! I love them so much but they really dont suit me (
@@nikitinaknits It is a really beautiful color, if yku think it doesn’t suit you maybe you could knit some socks or some kind of accessory that isn’t close to your face!
I'm making the square neck cami out of the cotton merino dusty aqua and it is such a beautiful color
@@kaitlyntrugman6015 ahh that will be so beautiful in that color. I made mine out if a color that doesn’t suit me, so maybe I’ll make another and we can match :)
@@truesummerknits summers unite! 💙
okay, but the thumbnail is top notch 😏 this is such a fun video to watch! Also that sock yarn will make such a lovely twist loop top, i’m so excited to see you knit it! 🤍
What about Lily Kate France's patterns? Maybe calm night cami?
@@CodyB-mz5yg I love her designs and her patterns! I will definitely check that one out. Thanks for the suggestion :)
On the ruined silk top, I had a friend suggest that soaking in hair codified might be useful.
@@ginninadances I feel like I’ve heard that! I’d like to try that to at least save the yarn, bc pure silk was definitely not the right choice for the cami no. 9. Thanks :)
This was so fun! Especially loved the colour of that Drops Alpaca silk
@@StephSewn thank you!! It’s so gorgeous, if I didn’t have prior commitments I’d love to just cast on with it right now
I love all the yarn you want to sell 😂 but I live too far away and I am too big to use that small quantitys unfortunately.
you mentioned mobile and birmingham i'm from AL! i recently discovered the yarn shop knitbham and made my first pair of mittens. i'm new to knitting and learned a lot about fibers just from you showing your stuff
@@coolkid-yd9uq aw that makes me so happy! I wish I was closer to either knit bham or southern twist yarns. Southern twist is about an hour and a half for me and I have never made the journey but I’ve heard really good things about both.
It’s very ‘hallloweenie’ color 😈(the purple yarn that you hate), maybe you can make a hat out or it.
@@ellyt6599 yes I think I will do something like that, the more warm color is one that would suit my mother (she’s some kind of autumn) so it may have to become a gift!
