Rough trails, and trails ahead, and lots of smog it looks like. I don't know how you know which way to go😮 sometimes it looks confusing. The scenery is beautiful.

Damascus, VA is where “Trail Days” happens (mid-May). It’s a huge party of current and former thru-hikers. I did not attend. But I can attend another year and meet up with 2023 hikers. Thousands attend each year. Some say it’s better than any musical festival they ever attended.

One reason I regret walking the approach trail is because I met many hikers who were not ready. One guy from Florida got hypothermia and I had to carry his bag 1 mile to the top of the mountain where an ambulance was waiting for him. Luckily a hiker, who happened to be a paramedic, arrived and he got better. He left the trail though.
