Excellent series, I really appreciate it as a hungarian heritage speaker! One thing, one could posit a general rule (which may get broken sometimes) that, usually, a verb which has been derived from a noun (kávé(zni), busz(ozni), zongora(ázni) etc) usually become "-ik" verbs. Thank you for also reminding us that even though they end in -om/-em for the first person singular, they are still verbs of indefinite conjugation. This would always confuse me!

Sz in Polish is pronunced like S in Hungarian and S in Polish is pronunced like Sz in Hungarian.

Very similar like in Polish, Did not expect that.

Well, as a native Hungarian speaker, I had no idea either that "keresni" (to search) has something to do with hunting. The French "win money". (gagner de l'argent) The Germans "serve for it" (verdienen Geld) The Russians "work for it" (zarabotaty dyenghi) And you "receive money" in Swahili (kupata pesa). 😊

Your neighbours Serbians and Croatians also have these sounds. CS=Ч/Č DZS=Џ/DŽ LY=Љ/LJ TY=Ћ/Ć ZS=Ж/Ž GY=Ђ/Đ NY=Њ/NJ Also there is a GY sound in southern Vietnamese dialect whitch is simply written as G. Gì=Gyí bạn muốn Gì=mit akarsz

In Mexican Spanish we make the same sound, which has actually derived into a word: "híjole" (silent h, j as in Hungarian h, with the accent on the i), to express the same situations you describe. Nagyon érdekes!

As a native Hungarian speaker, I had no idea that "köz" has this archaic meaning. 😂 These days it's used only as "public" as in "köztulajdon" (public property), "közös" (jointly owned), "közösség" (community). And "köz" as in "gap" or "alley". Also "között" = between. 😊

As to your question: In English we also have an exclamation of startlement or worry, very similar to "Híííí" and also uttered on an intake of breath, more of a "Hehhhhh!" or "Huhhhh!" or even "Uhhhh!". And then there is "Yikes!"
