@@wilsonxci I've been practicing with a guy I know whose been teaching me the finer points of wet weather racing, so I'm looking forward to staying out as much trouble as I can when that race comes around. I'm looking at breaking inside the top 5 for the four round rookie race, which starts at Paul Ricard, a night race Hungaroring, wet race , Silverstone mixed conditions race and finally a night race at Spa! The other league I've joined is called Williams Racing club (I think) and I'm P.4 after the first round of Misano in my classification (Rookies) so if I can maintain that at Bathurst, and Oulton Park I'll be on the podium with only four races left to do.

@@rohitbeniwal8649 yep those are the monitors I’m using. I believe I’m at a 60° angle but I forget the distance to the screens. I installed a wheel extension shaft so the monitors actually sit between the wheel and wheelbase now. The display port cables are 15ft but I could get away with 10ft as well. I can check the distance to the screen when I get the chance.

@@wilsonxci I'm physically disabled on the left side down! I use a steering aid to turn the wheel, and push buttons to go through the gears. I also have to right foot brake and accelerate. I've joined leagues on Sim Grid but I'm looking to join a McLaren endurance racing team where I can improve my pace. If you know anyone let them know I'm in the market for a drive for 2025.

@@brandogt3racing much respect sir that must be very difficult. I’m curious if the fanatec advanced paddle system could help. There are two shifters and a clutch paddle to each side. You could use both shifters on one side for up/down gears and the clutch paddle for either throttle or brake. Just an idea 😁 But yes if I find anything I will let you know!

@@wilsonxci already been sorted out fellow sim racer sir. Had them for about a year now. On my Fanatec wheel I have a breakout box that allows me to place some switches so I can shift up and down through the gears, and for my right side, I use a steering aid to allow the McLaren to rotate through the apexes. If you know of any endurance races happening across the pond, in willing to enter. It would be a waste not to use all the equipment that's just sitting here doing absolutely nothing.

@@brandogt3racing Thanks, I am! Hoping the same to you. I’m not sure how many esports drivers use the macca. It is an excellent car for hot lapping, but sometimes can be difficult to get around other drivers since its strength is through the mid to high speed corners. As I’m sure you know, making overtakes mid corner is very hard. Other cars like the Aston, Ford, etc are very fast on the straights. Sometimes the macca just doesn’t have the straight line to get moves done.

@@wilsonxci doesn't those cars have weaknesses as well as strengths. I thought the macca was good at corner entry, for example? Doesn't each car, in ACC have its strengths and weaknesses my good sir the Aston seems to be sluggish and slow when shifting up and down, whereas the macca shifting is super quick and responsive!

@@brandogt3racing true, but we also have BoP in our leagues that make most cars relevant. Being slow in the corners isn’t great, but it is much easier to defend than on the straights. Most of the time when drivers are pretty close in skill, the straights are where you are more likely to overtake.

In hindsight I wish I had tried the undercut or overcut. I ended up waiting too long to try an undercut as he felt forced to pit due to the timing of the group of lapped cars in front us. I followed in thinking I might get caught up too. I should have stayed out. There wasn’t much to lose if it didn’t work out. I was the quicker driver halfway through this race but the Porsche was just a tad better out of the important areas of the track where overtaking is more possible.

Thanks for tuning in as always. It was an up and down season but despite all the craziness P2 is pretty good. We do have a strong penalty system and regular hand out qualifying bans and occasionally race bans. In hindsight, while the driver could have avoided contact, I made a move that wasn’t great. Mostly my fault. Just how it goes sometimes!

@@wilsonxci onwards and upwards to the next season, once the new born gets settles in and you and Mrs Wilson can get a routine going, when all gets back to some normality after the birth. Thanks man! Wishing the same. Sorry the race wasn’t that exciting, but the undercut turned out to be the right call. And yeah, lap 17, the other driver said they just got lost and broke 50 meters too early lol. It’s easy to miss in the rain. Btw it’d be amazing to drive with fellow sim racer James Baldwin for Garage 59 😂 I’m sure the whole process for him was very intensive to get him a seat!

@@wilsonxci that undercut even with that amount of damage, sure helped out to get back onto the podium. No penalties, no drive, throughs came your way. How many points separate you from the driver, competing for your crown for Watkins Glen; what are the points situation based on where you finish to where they would have to finish for you to retain your Silver class 🏆 ship? So looking forward to the final round at the Glen next week. But you had done a stellar job with the undercut that's for sure!

@@wilsonxci he is a good ambassador for both virtual and real world driving, we all wish someone would give him a season to compete with. James is not just quick, he's extremely consistent. He is after all the world's fastest gamer and it shows! With competitive drivers fighting for a seat, I think they should have a roster across the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, so that each driver gets the opportunity to race every other year or so. I'm sure something could be organised if the good man was to set something up in the future, for a virtual 🏆 ship or something, with other sim/real world racers.

@@brandogt3racing thanks! I am behind by 40 points. The goal of this last race was to finish ahead of Manperson, however lap 1 had different plans for me unfortunately. He will have to have a bad race while I have a pretty good race. Without the wreck I may have a much better shot at all of this, but at least the recovery still gives me a shot.

@@wilsonxci and how confident are you at the Glen? There's some really mid to slow corners at that track, to keep an eye out for? What would go in your favour for the last round is having mixed conditions, where you clearly excel. P.2 from the undercut, is as you said bridged that gap to only 40 points. I'll be watching with interest next week that's for sure, with two trainers (sneakers) for you to toast your double win 🥈 class 🏆 ship and an 🚑 on stand by, just in case you fall over for an amazing race season. All is well, thanks! I put it in TC2 at the start since the tires aren’t up to proper pressure/temps. It will help eliminate too much wheel spin and save your tires in the long run. But yes, generally speaking, the higher your TC is, the less wear it might get, but there’s still other factors at play.

Also, to your other point. I have been thinking about a “how to get quicker,” or “mistakes to avoid” type of video. Going to be brainstorming for this. Might also make a base setup for the macca for people to try out.

I run 10-15ft usb and DisplayPort cables from the rig to my pc. Normally, my desk monitor would occupy the fourth connection into my gpu which is hdmi, but because it doesn’t go above 60fps, I usually turn off Nvidia surround on the triples, then turn off the monitors, and swap one of the three DisplayPort cables with the DisplayPort cable from my desk monitor. It’s a minor inconvenience but the enjoyment I get easily outweighs it.

I reached out to him. He just didn’t see me, which seemed about right. It kinda felt like he was surprised to see me already left of him as we hit the breaking zone. He is still a very green driver, so as my buddy Ian mentioned in the chat, stuff like this is always a good chance to teach other drivers rather than flame them lol.

@@wilsonxci depends on the circumstances. Because if they are that highly rated to be in a really quick server, they should take into account how things can change in a heart beat! Read the situation that's in front of them and act accordingly. Not to use your car as a braking aid, because that only ruins your race! They should have known better in my opinion. But you are right to have a word with them about their racing etiquette.

You’re right. It was an honest mistake at the end of the day and he owned up to it. I’m not too thrilled with the huge skill gap in OOR but the NA split just isn’t large enough to make more than one split. They are primarily a Pacific based league, so it’s understandable that it struggles in NA. Even Europe too.

I find the more you are exposed to different scenarios the better it will be for your overall skills. I think driving in the rain will really help with car control. It may be subtle but you’ll find a lot of good drivers casually making corrections in their steering, when in reality they are literally saving their car from crashing.

@@wilsonxci for the second race, the tyre temps for wets I was told two things, firstly depending on how wet the track is, start off at 26.5 Psi and work up from there. Depends on how much surface water there is on the track. Secondly do you know about the ACC bug. Where if you race in wet conditions because of the bug, it doesn't matter what tyre temp you use it won't affect the tyres on its optimal temperature. That's the rumour.

@@brandogt3racing What I know for wets is that you want to be in the range of 29.5 to 31, but ideally in 30 to 30.5. There was a bug where you put each tire at the maximum pressure and it negates the rain effect. Maybe that’s the one you’re referring to? That was patched out.

@@wilsonxci I thought it still remained, as I know a streamer who was told a few months ago a bug still remains where the tyre temps aren't affected if it's wet conditions. When did they patch it out?

Thanks for watching and the kind words! My wife and I are thrilled for our little one. It may mean an extended break with racing but we’ll see how that goes lol. Imola is a tough track but I really had fun with this one. I looked back at the replay and he took too much curb which threw him into me. No hard feelings though he was just trying to respect my space as I was his. I would say consistency is more important, but you need to at least have a little pace. It’s hard to do well if you don’t at least have some combination of both, but a lack of consistency often gets you into more trouble.

@@wilsonxci I'm sure you'll be a great coach, father, friend, role model to the young one. So that when they start school over there, they'll tell all of their friends, "My pops is a professional eSports sim racer, and can win all his races - blind folded!!" 😂😂😂😂 Just giving you the heads up and all that, sim racer to sim racer! 😂😂😂

There is only one North American split for OOR, so the skill gap is quite wide which brings its implications. Oh well we move on and race again in a couple weeks. SRA starts up next week on Tuesday so I’m looking forward to that 🙂

@@wilsonxci it was a very enjoyable watch, you handled the pressure really well! Me I'd be panicking like crazy. But you held out till the rain started to fall on the track! But why did you start on wets during qualifying? You had at least 20 minutes + before the rain was set to fall!

@@brandogt3racing thanks! the track was damp and for a very short period of time so they were the optimal tire. But that barely lasted, so in hindsight I should have just gone out on the slicks.
