Bobbin lace tips and tricks - Setting up a pricking with a ring or bangle
Bobbin lace tips and tricks - Setting up a pricking with a ring or bangle
Using a ring with an inner diameter of 65mm but any size will work, just follow your pattern notes. This pattern is part of a Christmas workshop I will be running (additional videos will be uploaded after this event).
Use a small crochet hook, suitable for the thread you are using.
Pin around the inner side of the ring with as many pins as you need to keep it stable. If you are working a pattern that joins in many places, you can remove the glass headed pins as required.
Generally there will only be a few pairs sewn onto the ring itself, but you may need to join some in as you work the lace - pattern dependent.
My pattern is slightly too small for this size ring, however your pricking should just gently touch the ring all around.

@@brigittehemon8104 Thank you for your comments. I agree that a pale blue or green background is easier to watch the threads on, however graph paper is only white here and I am trying to encourage beginners who may only have old school maths books or access to white grid paper. Plus the threads are thicker and brightly coloured so will help against the white paper.
Thank you for posting techniques for Honiton lace -- until I found your channel, I could count on one hand the number of YT fine part-lace tutorial videos (at least, that I could find). Greetings from Arizona (USA)!
@@carlosvalentin4899 I'm glad you are finding them useful. I will post more stitches and techniques as and when I get to working them.
J'ai regardé les précédentes vidéos sur vos conseils et je les trouve vraiment très bien expliquées, je vais pouvoir commencer grâce à vous 🙏🏻🥰 (sorry I'm learning english but impossible for me to explain in english 😅)
Bonjour, j'aimerais apprendre la dentelle aux fuseaux mais je ne sais pas par où commencer 🙏🏻
@@steffychante7854 Hello. Thank you for reaching out. I suggest watching the short on basic supplies and go from there. There are several very good Facebook groups that can help with supplies and advice as well. Good luck and welcome!
@@steffychante7854 Most of the groups I belong to have English as their language, however you could try looking up facebook.com/groups/229285676439582/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT And ask if they can help? Alternatively, try typing in Bobbin Lace (for English groups) Dentelle or even Kloppeln (German/Dutch)

Thank you for your comments. I am glad you found the videos helpful! Please let me know if there is anything you want explained further and I will add it to the list.
What book are you using would like to get book with pattern
This pattern is drawn by hand and is a variation of the Torchon Insertion pattern that we drafted in the last playlist. It is drawn on 5mm diamond grid paper (supplies listed in description in Torchon Insertion playlist). If you are wanting a good beginner's book, it really depends on where you are in the world and whether you have any experience in lacemaking and what style you are after.
I’ve never seen this before tonight when I ran into your channel! It would help if you had a “start here” if you’ve never done this craft before… also, would love to see some time lapse of you working. I got the idea right away and need way less teaching and just want to see you work!
Hello. Thank you for your comments. I have tried to keep the videos short ao that you can jump from one to another and gave graded the patterns from very basic onwards. There is a short of the supplies needed prior to this playlist and I have recently added another pattern element- Spiders.
@@Ollybobscrafts it’s such a pretty craft! I’ve enjoyed watching several videos! Looking forward to more!
Can I buy a pattern for doing spiders? I’m having a time with them.
Hello. This is drafted using 5mm grid/graph paper. The instructions are used in the previous playlist for the Torchon Insertion, first video. Otherwise there are many suppliers that sell both patterns and books (including spider specific books) - not sure where you are in the world but the UK Lace Guild has second hand books plus a couple of books called "The little friendly spider"

i don't know a thing about lace making or anything like that, but i happened upon this video and just wanna say that a) i love your little heart pin! and b) you have a lovely voice, it's very pleasing to listen to (: have a nice day!
Thank you so much - I love that you stayed even if it wasn't your thing. 😊
good - directions clear.
Thank you.
That was amazing to watch. You did a fantastic job of making the video. The only thing I would add is a close up of each sample area with its description beside it. That way, anyone trying to follow along can have a final reference of what it’s supposed to look like. Could you show any other supplies that might be needed and where to buy them? Is there a purpose for the beads on the bottom of your bobbins or is it merely decoration? I’m looking forward to watching the rest of your videos, and am now a Subscriber. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your feedback. I am planning many more videos in the future including different bobbins and what/why they do what they do. 😊 Many people wanted to dive right in with working patterns rather than equipment usage. But it's on the list! 😆
Hello, new subscriber from Florida USA here. I was absolutely fascinated by this craft, and because it was presented so thoroughly I believe I could dive right in! I look forward to binge watching all your videos! Thank you so much.❤
Thanks for this! 😊
You're so welcome!
I bought a beginner's kit, years ago. You reminded me to get it out and play, finally. 😉😊🥰
Hope you enjoy it! Let me know if there is something specific you need a visual on.
