Good balance in the sound. Human beings doing what they do best, dancing to good music.
Next week we do it again!
Great pickup band, great sounds. Loved Uniit's new song. Lilting, almost a lullabye.
And what a treat to have Sim lay one on us with Uniit singing like in the early Sim Redmond Band days. Lovely. What a mellow set overall. I'll be coming back to listen again, for sure!
Such a great show! LOVE DTB!!
Can't wait until next month !!!
Classic 70’s style Hawaiian Music only that generation can play!
What a gem! Please tell me a bit of DTB trivia from back in this golden era.
Hi ! The guy in the thumbnail is named Sharkey who was from San Diego and a frequent sight at California Dead shows. This was the very first DTB California tour. I was living about 20 miles away at the time and there was no way I couldn't go. Me and a friend of mine ended up hanging out after the show in their tour bus which they managed to drive across the country minus several mechanical break downs. I remember hanging in the bus with Jeb and Tara who were both very kind and cool to talk to. We didn't stay long as they were tired and ready to go to their next gig. I wish I had a better camera back in the day. Thanks for your question!
@@johnsipple4113 Outstanding. Thank you! That bus is legend, huh.. East Coast here, NC. 1st DTB was Ziggy's. Changed me for sure. Best thing I found post Jerry. All kind souls. Spent a few minutes on the bus in 2006, Tara kind of politely kicked me off..lol. * don't usually get starstruck but Jen & Tara are starstruck material. I'm glad you documented this 1st west coast show. It's big in my book, friend. As far as quality; I've bent my ear through many recordings to get the good stuff. This is GOOD stuff! Edit: Ziggy's 98 *Jeb and Tara
Thanks 👍
Puryear!!!!
Medicine for the soul.....they make magic
Yes they do !!!
Best Band on the planet.. they are off the charts
They are truely a special blend of perfect!
I miss this vibe so much and hope to get back someday.
Hopefully sooner than later!
Should be 100 clicks for me. 4 to 8 times a week!!!
It's music that grabs you and doesn't let go! Thanks for watching!
I met Donna (singer) in the New Orleans Tower Records while browsing records in 2002. Darlin' Aussie accent asking me if Neil Young's, "Rust Never Sleeps", is good? 10 minutes later I'm watching them perform in the store. Completely smitten and blown away...
Very cool!
She's as good live as the recording
This was a sacred night in Maui. My wife and 2 small children had planned a trip to Hawaii and Alaska for a year and a half and then my mother got terminal brain cancer and we didn’t think we’d be able to go because she was going to pass. She demanded we go, and that she would hang on and wait for us to get back. So we went. I’ll never forget the moment he played this, the clouds the moon, the smell of Hawaiian ganja. My mother was on her deathbed when he played this for me! It was perfect.
Thank you so much for sharing this ! It truly was a special show.
He's so real... Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome
Saw him do this tonight at Tally Ho in Leesburg Va....

Put it simply, just great music, love it.
So true!
Destiny Is Hard Wired 😋 Grassroots! Is the Clambake still around? peace.
I don't think the clambake is still happening. There is jambalaya though !
@@johnsipple4113 Oh ok, thx man, I'll check it out. Also, thanks for the great video man, all these gorgeous memories and feelings come flooding in as I remember the shows like at The Country Times (Binghampton?) and such. Be well.
I can't believe there isn't a soundboard recording of the entire concert. I was there so fabulous.
I wish there was too !!!
Thanks for the video. That old time Creole/Zydeco music brings back great memories
Glad you enjoyed it !!!
Those two are a beautiful pair, so pure at heart - you can hear it through the very essence of their songs. Love them!
Love your new 'do, Emily!
My sweet 74 yo Mom shared this amazing beautiful music with me, excited to hear in person soon. ❤KY
Thanks to your Mom for sharing!!!
Absolutely ❤
Jack and Jorma are excellent.I watch this video when I am in a bad mood and it instantly puts a smile on my face. They have certainly brought a great deal of happiness to us all.Thank you Jack and Jorma!!!!!
Couldn't agree more!!! Thanks for watching!
They are coming back to Shakori Hills in May!Can't wait!
I can't wait !!!
I enjoy their Duo sets, but the full band is on another level. Thank you for uploading this one.
I hope they know how much we love them.
I'm sure they do !!!
Yeah BABY!!!!!!
I honestly can't believe i missed this. Had no idea they were here =(
They were awesome !
TRULY E-E-E-E-E-E-EPIC opening set, not co-incidentally with a fabulous stream-lined set-list, what else would you expect? for those of us way way out west (of six-mile creek), thank you so much john, for the fine cinematography, replete with superb audio! can't quite grok how smooth and rock steady up-tempo the delivery was. tara seemed a bit lack-a-daisy at the onset, and when jeb exhorted her to do family picture, voila...things really took off accordingly. then tara levitated, the solo she played on forty days/forty nights was transcendental.....this is the best set i've seen them play in a long time. the rhythm section is lovely...., iced with the inter-twining inter-play of organ/guitar/fiddle/accordian.... they are INDEFATIGABLE!.... then closing with funky-side? wow, bravo, bravo buffalo!
Thanks so much! I' can't agree more with you more. This was a great set and I sure enjoyed filming it!
The Spirit of the 60 lives on! We are still here you Bastards!
Been a fan for 20 years. Thank you! Any idea if they are releasing new music?
I haven't heard but if I do, I'll reply with an update!
Wow these two have really blossomed into underground rockstars. Kickass
Really? From informally meeting Emily and Andrew, i'd say they've done very well avoiding any egomania. IMHO, key to their character.
@@jacquesblaque7728 - I don't get the impression that egomania was what ReeferCheifer had in mind. Something more like very popular and appreciated perhaps.
Why isnt Emily playing fiddle anymore? Her voicing and feel were one of the things that drew me to these guys. Golden Embers in particular. 😥
I was wondering the same for a long time. I hope she picks up the fiddle again. I love the way she plays it.
That's not Joe Westerlund on the drums...
Do you happen to know the name of the drummer? Thank you for letting me know.
@@johnsipple4113Jamie Dick on drums and Nat Smith on keys and cello
@@eugeneunger2473 Thanks very much!
I think that's Dr Steve Brule
@@paulduncan3497 Thanks. Steve Brule on drums or keys? Just want to get it right.
Where’s this been hiding? nice - thanks.
One of my favorite ITown bands, thanks John, real purty..
Thanks Kevin!
I am so glad to have found this glorious band!! Very beautiful sound every time, every song is superb!!
Look, no cellphones! Everyone is actually engaged in the moment without narcissistic behavior for the sake of posting on social media. So refreshing.
Such a nice ocean. Plastic free.
It’s a a cruel sort of irony that music such as these beautiful gentle souls create has to be performed in venues of such magnitude that that they need a PA system just to be heard over the din. Last summer I heard them at Britt in Jacksonville OR. You could have heard a pin drop, even though there were many hundreds of people there. I am glad though that these venues exist to support great music.
You guys take me on a journey l could never grow tired of.👌
Great to find new Watchhouse footage! Gracias 🙏
Songs more popular now that it was in 1970.
Hello from the UK, thanks for a wonderful show. Have loved your music for a couple of years, first time I have seen this show. Hopefully you will be back in the UK again.
Just saw the Duo in Santa Barbara and loved it!
Greatest Americana band to exist. This song in particular will never rust IMHO. Edit; Really excellent recording here, thanks 🙏 -Peace
Thank you !!!
Great way to start the morning....thanks buddy, yeahyouright
Thanks Kevin! I've got Sim Redmond 7/21 Grandstand Stage coming in a few days.
I love this .....thank you so much!!!!
You are so welcome!
So if your wondering I like it every time I listen to this.then (it) unlikes it ......let's make things every clear I Like it!!! yaeh you right!!!!!!!
Mighty Fine capture, John....thanks.!
Thanks Kevin!
Love it! Thanks!
Glad you like it!
This was great! I think it became my new fav watchhouse concert! Tech difficulties esp the lighting made this a special recording. Please never take it down!
Glad you enjoyed it!
When it goes quiet, did you edit out a loud noise or something? If so, appreciate it but curious.@@johnsipple4113
@@JasonNew Yes, that's exactly right. Kevin matrixed the sound. There were several loud sounds that were muted out. In between songs the volume is decreased to give the ears a rest as well.
@@JasonNew Yeah there were some loud explosions from what was attributed to a bad rental snake, took those out so we won't be hearing those again. Why bands try to bring their own equipment to GrassRoots is a mystery to me..ask their soundman Mark Alspaugh
Agree @JasonNew Just watched this tonight for the first time. Really enjoyed it. Loved the uniqueness of the lights and tech issues. Adds a little personality to the show. Always love that.
