I bought the three dark souls games around the time Elden rings released and beat all three of them before I played Elden ring because I thought Elden ring was going to be more difficult than them and I wanted to practice
so this is why the demons felt natural and the gargoiles not so much,... my brain works as miyazaki intended i guess

Someone Needs to make a Game entirely based on Graphics and frames. Like a look into the Matrix, super Meta, real world vs digital world. So there are creatures that are made of the frames and actual algorithms and based data and looks of Computer and Game Graphics. Totally stripped down. Because what we see in any Game or CGI isn’t the actual reality, it’s a fabricated and curated facade that hides the real framing and make up of the digital images and world. What a game programmer sees before the assets are rendered and colored in to look like something we would recognize. When in truth they are all lines of coding, algorithms and digital patterning to create a facsimile of recognizable things. That would be so cool. Especially if you could somehow make the game be like a Creator God/Hacker/Programmer and a Neo like Matrix interaction where you can manipulate and deeply interact with all or some of the algorithms and codes. A Digital Hacker Matrix God Programmer! Because, somehow, in this game the digital world and “real” world has merged threatening actual life, or something along those lines! That be so epic!!
Regarding Commander Gaius' weird hitboxes on his charge: if I had to guess they're development artifacts. At some point he likely left a damaging (gravity?) trail behind him when he charges, leaving a line of hitboxes tethered to the ground. This meant he didn't need a body hitbox: just spawn the trail hitboxes in the front of his model and they do double duty. But then Gaius was changed and the damaging trail was removed. Instead of removing the trail hitboxes entirely and adding a new body hitbox, the developers took the easy way out and simply made the trail hitboxes despawn so quickly they never get longer than his body length. A clever, time saving trick, but one that results in the inconsistency we see in the game.

You can dodge through the first part since there are gaps and you can move through it... barely...
3:20 I think adding three collision capsules for the sword is absolutely unnecessary For the dragon, it makes a bit more sense because the dragon is a lot bigger Honestly I never felt that Radahn's hitboxes were off

I think the worst part about bosses is the part where you can’t get away from them. That’s honestly the most frustrating thing about combat. When I can’t get enough space to start an attack it drives me nuts.

The trick to dodging Commander Gaius is to roll at a forward angle (roughly 45 degrees), the timing isn't even that tight once you get the hang of it.
The Fact that you have to try to dodge WaterFlow Dance like a Ballilion times or LITERALLY WATCH A TH-cam TUTORIAL to know How to properly dodge that attack, speaks of how bad designed is that attack, if i can't intuitively dodge an attack is bad design, and it hurts cuz Malenia is one of the Coolest Fights on the Game, and most people would agree that if it wasn't for WaterFlow Dance it will be the most Enjoyable fight in the entire Base Game
Please do some for the normal enemies, for example, in Anor Londo the giant guards have an attack where they slam their shield against the ground, the hitbox from that shield persists for at least a full second while the shield remains on the ground.

I'd say a Master class in generic hitboxes to kill you anytime. Good note. Btw great video it just explains what I thought. It's not technical or precise or refined, It's just designed to kill you no matter what. Elden sheep players loves that I guess 😂

to be honest i love wehn people complain about shitty DS2 hitboxes, and im thinking to myself, uh dude...have you played these games? shitty hitboxes are a staple of dark souls.
Not sure why it has to be a mixture of bait smarmy and snide , I like the video just the way you went about it , ds1 came out in 2011 bro it's amazing and cutting edge made on a tiny budget, yeah they rushed the last bit , the hit boxes are far more purposeful that you think , I wish you got to play demons and dark before elden ring so you could actually appreciate how amazing the games are
Most players consider the Tree Spirits noises but strangely intuitive to fight. I don’t think I’ve ever taken damage from me after my first play through. It may look like a lot but it’s soo easy to learn.
I play often with other music or a podcast playing lol
The ulcerated treffen spirit was so easy to me, once you found out when he does what he only had like 3 major attack patterns. I think it was just counter intuitive but not perticularly hard to do
