    I think it is important to use things, if it is possible to redo so that it can be restored back in the future, fine, but it is more important to not have a load of things go to waste and not be used. In my opinion.

    I appreciate your response to the first comment from the phonograph collector. If you had not worked with the owner, your client may have taken it elsewhere and it may have been redone poorly. I’m so appalled you did this. As a phonograph collector, other collectors would have done a lot to save this. And you ruined it… it can’t even be converted back if someone wanted

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts-I truly understand how passionate collectors like yourself might feel about this. I want to provide some context: this piece was brought to me by a client who wanted a way to incorporate it into their home as a functional and meaningful part of their space. The phonograph was in poor condition, and restoring it to its original function wasn’t feasible. After discussing the options with the client, they decided on this transformation to ensure it could still be enjoyed rather than remain unused or discarded. I know this may not align with the preferences of all collectors, and I absolutely respect that perspective. My goal is always to work with my clients to create something they can cherish while giving these pieces a second life. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and I value the passion and dedication collectors like you bring to preserving history.

    • @Phono-fun
      @Phono-fun 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I’m sorry but, no… From the video, it easily looked restorable. You straight up destroyed a piece of history. I promise you there are collectors all over the country, that would have helped you restore the phonograph in a second… This is honestly shameful, because you chopped it up and painted it instead of doing the right thing to restore it. I hope you never touch an acoustic phonograph again. Because you pushed it once step closer to the junk yard…

    • @ItsAboutFlippinTime
      @ItsAboutFlippinTime 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Phono-fun Thank you for your heartfelt critique-I had no idea I was single-handedly dooming history with my paintbrush. For your peace of mind, the phonograph was far from the masterpiece you might be imagining. I’m thrilled to know there’s a secret network of collectors who would’ve magically restored it, but unfortunately, none of them showed up when this piece landed in my client’s hands. So she and I chose to give it a second chance at life in a way that’s meaningful and functional. But hey, I’ll be sure to consult with the history police next time before rescuing a piece from certain doom. Appreciate your concern! I’ll try to remember your advice the next time I’m faced with a decaying relic of history. Best of luck preserving the world one phonograph at a time!

      @@ItsAboutFlippinTime Your satire isn’t very reassuring… Look, this is a 1926 Brunswick panatrope model Hampton. It isn’t crazy rare, but it’s not as common as the average 1920s Victrola. There’s entire collectors dedicated to Brunswick machines, and I know several who would have loved to restore it… There’s forums, facebook-groups, entire historical societies dedicated to collecting/restoring antique phonographs. And I’d wager, you didn’t even try looking any up. That since “you” didn’t know how, this was the only option… (I’ve restored machines in far worse condition.)There’s people who still appreciate these machines, and sadly there are less and less everyday. I have no problem with adapting it to fit within someone’s modern home, but altering it so much that it can’t be changed back… There’s people who would have loved this machine, and would have appreciated it for what it is. Now there’s one less in the world, and that’s sad.

    Let me start by saying that I love what you did as well as what you have done. Truly. You are an amazing and thoughtful talent. This piece was gorgeous. It sometimes make me sad to see a part of renovations where parts are trashed.
