Wide Open Dorado Fishing w/ Mako Shark, San Diego Offshore Full-Speed Mahi Mayhem! September 2, 2022
Headed out of Mission Bay on September 2, 2022 for some dorado action. Headed about 15 miles north west and found a few kelp paddys that were loaded with dorado. Was full-speed fishing for a few hours with a few dorado foamers! Orlando hooked a nice 50-60 pound mako shark that eventually chewed through the 30lb fluoro leader. All fish caught on Penn Fathom 2 2-speed reels (15, 25, and 30 series).

    Another really great solo fishing video !! Question brother ,cause I also have a boat but never done solo fishing. So question is do you ever turn off your engine completely , while drifting ? I have myself but have heard comments by other youtube guys I follow and respect . Saying they always leave engine in idle or neutral just cause of the thought of not turning over when restarting? Let .e know your thoughts brother!!

    How do u store all the meat and fir how long? I heard you say you vacuum seal and store it? Just curious how long does it last? Honestly I just got back from an overnight trip last weekend and caught 2 BFT about 60 total pounds of meat maybe a bit less but man it’s a lot, I used my food saver and sealed it. I’m going again on a 1.5 day at end of month 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Twotalesfishing
      @Twotalesfishing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice job on the bft! I usually wrap each of the loin chunks in paper towels and then place in plastic gallon bag to age around 3-4 days in fridge. Then make sure its dry, vacuum seal and freeze. A deep freeze/chest freezer helps, it get colder than a normal freezer. Chamber sealer helps too, but they get sorta expensive. Last year I was using a normal store bought suction sealer snd fish would last over a year. I try to eat it all/give away most before next tuna season starts to have freezer room.

    • @Twotalesfishing
      @Twotalesfishing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the madmacs I usually go fast, like 11-12mph and have them WAY back……over 200 yards back. With the spreader bar I go slower, like 8-9mph and also have it WAY back. I think the key is to drag lures through spotted fish without scaring them with boat….so wide turns around the fish.

    Super noob question, but is the bent rod handle purely for helping fight a big fish in the rod holder? I assume if it was one of the straight rods, you'd risk snapping the rod?

    • @Twotalesfishing
      @Twotalesfishing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We got the bent butt rod so my wife Kylee could fight big bluefin, it would help her be able to fight the fish in the rod holder, especially when the fish gets straight up and down at the end of the fight. The bent butt in an angled rod holder allows you to fight the fish once it gets straight up and down and does big circles. I usually use a straight rail rod and kneel to use the rail once fish gets straight up and down, which was tough for her to do. We have lost big fish before by letting the braided line hit the side of boat. Its all basically to keep your line from rubbing on the boat hull. We just happened to hook this big 302 pounder with the bent butt, our other kite rod is a Seeker OSP 3x rail rod.
