I have had bad luck with almost all systems using the pin locking mechanism. They rust easy, break, pinch the heck out of the webbing on your hands LOL. I am also skeptical of the twist method, but on just manually stressing the poles, they seem beefy. I am testing AVOFOREST tarp poles and Green Elephant poles. On just a first inspection I am liking the AVOFOREST tarp poles. I will find out in a few days which to keep.

Just an idea, if you used cordage on the door and put the stake on the inside of the tent, you could pull on the cord and secure it to the stake without removing the stake each time. Would be easier.

Did come some restocks for germany avialability for the 4x3 woodland camo defender? I have the 4,5x4,5 too, but for a single person a bit too big. My 2 cents for improvement (4x3m version): 1. would like to see on long side double numbers of tie outs and 2. an additional middle line which is crossing the other in the middle.

When you said you were 6 feet tall (7:25) , I got curious about the interior dimensions ... Your Comment/video description says it's a 10' by 10' tarp, so that makes the back 5' and the "hypotenuse" diagonal 10', so then with Pythagoras's a^2 + b^2 = c^2 it should become 5^2 + [inside body length availability]^2 = 10^2, or 25 + b^2 = 100 So then 100-25 = b^2, so 75 = b^2, and the square-root of 75 is 8.66 And that 0.66 decimal of 12inches should translate to about 7.9 inches So, in a theoretical world, that 10' x 10' tarp in this equilateral triangle configuration should have about 8 and a half feet (plus an inch or two) to fit. Which does seem like plenty of space, even if the corners are a bit small to the ground. And I would believe, like you said ~7:37 that 2 people could certainly fit it in an emergency

One disadvantage is that you cannot see anyone sneaking up to your camp intending harm.

I have hot weather use for all of my gear and clothing None of it is effective by the rain, I can handlle bugs, much of my gear can be worn as clothing, it totals 9 lbs for the hammock, packs, clothing, bivy, envelope, netting. I''v got 1.5 lbs of pocket 9mm and spare mag and anoter 1.5 lbs of 22lr conversion unit for it, with a silencer on the 22 barel. With 2 lbs of rations and 6 lbs of wter, water filter, extra wter bag, I can still go protty far and fast and the AR, silencer, ammo, 22 unit are cached near the BOL. A years supply of powdered milk grains, gransola, koolaid, molasses, suger and salt, some empty drums are already cashed at my BOL. , Which is 10 miles away. I'll be brining 100 lbs of nut butters, meds, supplements honey seeds, spices on a mountain biciele, wlking beside of it I'm assured of 6 months of food, probably 9 months, and if the buried nets, strel traps, big game snares, Rotenone fish poisin, bird lime, trotlines, sardine bait, etc, do their job,, along with n body fat, 9 months is likely, then the sprouts, seeds, and spice hve to do their thing A year after shtf, 99% of the population will be dead. there not enough food for anything else to be the case. So the root veggies and peanuts will have to do. until sometng can be worked out (at nigh( to go scrounge whatever else I need.

but you're still on the hard, cold ground, in the flood waters, snakes, bugs, thorns roots, steep slopes, mud, snow , brush ` 1 lb of monofilament gillnet hammock can feed me if need-be ,and gets rid of all of those problems. It can get me 15 ft+ up in the air, out of reach of dog packs and bears, people with clubs, etc. I use an XL size, 1.5 lb reflective tyvek bivy, with a 1/2 lb "envelope ' of heavy duty black plastic around it. The envelope gets its own ridgeline, cause the trapped-air space between the bivy and the envelope is the secret to this combo's abiiity to insulate you from the cold, rain and wind. I also use a couple of 1/2 lb each "cut leaf" type of camo net (amazon) and a couple of their 1/4 lb each full body bugnet "suites. I use a 1 lb buttpack, and a 1.5 lb daypack. I had to add a much wider, stiffer hip belt to the buttpack I fold and roll up the sleep/shelter gear and lash it to the buttpack. The daypack rides on the stuff, making it serve as a pack frame. My spare shorts and t shirt serve as my hip pads. My spare socks serve as my shoulder pads. I can sleep ok at 34F in wind and rain, in just cammies, unlaced shoes, 3 sets of sock liners, gloves, balaclava and shemagh. This is if I wear the bugnet suits and camo nets as longjohns. I can add dry debris and get down to 20F and stay mobile. I can add more dry debris, and sleep ok at 10F but I have to abandon that debris when I move. The military says that at 10F, hostile activity almost stops, especially at night, cause such cold is so hard on batteries. So I can have a fire, long enough to heat rocks or water and put them into my bivy That takes me down to 0F nd if need be, I have a way to use the fire go gain another 10F degrees. I can use the morning sun to gain 20F degrees, in case I had to use eerices, the UCO lantern and its beewaax candle to get me thru the nigtht. I hve a way to dry out wet debris, if needed. If it was colder in my area, I'd add longjohns and a sweater, but they would almost never be used.

if you just barely are off the ground in the hammock, 3 stakes can guy out the head end, supported by your trekking poles and your rifle. Your feet and legs arent that much of a load, so a short tripod of stakes, guyed out to small stakes, suffices to hold you off of the ground. sometimes then, the best you can do is have a bivy that goes around your bipod. I use a reflective tyvek bivy and around it I have a plasti "envelope" the trapped air space between the too is to secret to its insulative ability. A separate ridgeline is needed to keep the bivy away from the envelope. Have your butt be just 3" or so off of the ground and kick dry debris under you, to stop air flow that otherwise will freeze your butt.

And if you leave your razors in there overnight, they will be sharp in the morning.

looks great but water getting in at the bottom. unless you dig a trench system you will get wet. if ground is already muddy can you say huge fg mess. mud pies on everything. including in your sleeping wrap. possibly do this on top of another tarp? so you are not moving around in mud. a 12X12 cut to fit inside with a outside cleaning step. or maybe if crazy just cut up another 10X10 and build dikes inside. ( velcro?) to keep water out. but cut glued to make a clean step in front of the tent?

Simple setup. Wouldn't it be easier to just pull the "Door" flap inside and off to one side as opposed to having to reach under to the outside. That way you can kick brush over the edges to help with run through.

Why didn't you show how to attach the cord to the tree?

Thanks for video. If one were to carry around this tarp and another with a smaller footprint, you could lay the smaller footprint under this one before setup so that once you finish setting up the pyramid, theres a floor instead of just the ground.

I consider Aqua Quest Guide as the best tarp for durability, really waterproof, and easy to carry hiking. I have two 10×10 and a 20×13.

I would run a bit of paracord through the loop on the door and then going around the anchor peg at the side so you can just jump in and pull the string to close the door behind you.

You guys make the absolute BEST tarp out there for the money, weight and durability in my book! I have a defender 10x13 in woodland camo and as of yet I have had NO PROBLEMS with it! It is used 5 or 6 times heavily every year and I bring it home and clean it very well and store it dry and I have to say that I am VERY pleased with the tarp. I hope that I never have to use the lifetime guarantee and I don't think that I will. Thanks again for making such a GREAT PRODUCT! Wayne *Edit for spelling*

Thank you so much for this!! Your awesome man! The only thing I'm missing from my gear is the sleeping category stuff... Pretty important right?! 😆🤷 For me it's just an affordability issue... This entire configuration for me to buy a 20x20 waterproof tarp, stakes, and pole costs me almost $200... Still pricey but totally making me see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to figuring out my sleeping stuff without going into debt.... Thanks again for this!!! So much!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🧿🧿🧿🧿🧿 ... Dare I say that this is even better than any tent that people waste their money on ... My opinion I think this would last longer 😅

Ive got their heavy tarp and a half dozen of other brands as well. Its my favorite of all of them except for its weight but still think its worth the extra weight. I forgot the name of the camo pattern I got but its mostly different shades of brown. I like it because in the winter theres very green in the Ozarks and it blends in with the forest pretty well. Its not bad in the summer either since the ground in the woods have a lot of browns because of all the fallen leaves. I bought a camo net the same size as the tarp and together it blends right in.

I've just started using a tarp for camping. I have a 6×5 casualty blanket that I use. I also bring a smaller one to use as a ground sheet. On nice clear nights I just make a lean-to with the smaller tarp. I have a larger true tarp that I haven't used yet.

But you changed the material, much less durable.......Attention the quality of these tarps are getting worser and worser until today. Look at the bad expierences what Amazon users report. I would never recommand this tarp, also due to massiv delivery problems in Germany

If it's REALLY raining - water will seep under the tarp. Ensure the ground is level - even high in the middle if possible. Most of the time I'll ride out a 'mountain sprinkle' with a poncho either worn or as an overhead tarp and not sitting on the ground. Hey we're outdoors - right?

You should look at the telescopic poles from springbar. I have some of the twisty tarp poles but when they fail, I'll replace them with springbar poles. There's zero chance of me needing to carry them, they ride in my truck. If the weather is bad enough to break those poles it's well past time for me to have been inside.

If it rains the water will flow under the edges.. If it doesn't rain, you didn't need it...

This is my “very bad weather” pitch with an 8x10. The geometry isn’t as clean, but it works. (You have to use a short line to hold the door down.) Two notes: 1) It’s a condensation trap, so I’d only use it when it’s genuinely necessary, and 2) If the wind is heavy I recommend putting something like a piece of clothing between the top of the pole and the tarp to avoid damaging the tarp.

You should show an enclosed tarp tent. It has a floor and two sides. It is for rain and keeps you off the wet ground.

ur tarps needs every half meter in all direction a loop in and outside ansd all around and then ur tarps the best of the world
