is there more than one of the scales and how to locate alll them like what pattern
@@AntonyoVellaVega There are many types, but discussing them all will take a long-form video, which I hope to do soon! But for an introduction, start here: www.simplifyingtheory.com/pentatonic-scale/
杜普蕾 馬友友 羅斯卓波维奇 Pablo Casals
There are many types of pentatonic scales-this is just one of them. 😊
You’re a musician, pilot, and speak Chinese?! That’s freaking awesome.
@@bonjourbraxton Thanks! Of course I’m also older so I’ve had plenty of time to work on it all, haha!
Allowing yourself to move (naturally) will really help prevent tension from building up, and will open up your sound. Use more bow than you probably think you need, and add in a good vibrato (see my other shorts on this), and you'll be unstoppable!

@@Liusila I understand! I would start with the video this one points to-how to create major scales, and also my videos on note naming. This is a bit more advanced, but should be easier after those videos. (I’m also thinking a long-form video with more explanation would be helpful. Maybe I’ll do that in the future!)

Thank you Mr Myers❤ , but I believe obtuse egotism is not exclusive to Americans. 😂
I surely didn’t mean to imply that all Americans are like that, and what you say is true enough-I just didn’t feel comfortable speaking for anyone other than my fellow countrymen.

Welcome friendly you and your families come visiting Taiwan often
I'm curipus, do you know where this convention in alphabetical order using letters for the notes come from? As when I learned piano here I've only been taught Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si
@@imfastboi To be honest, I don’t know much more than it is a tradition in some Western countries. When it started, I am not sure. The other thing is that there is both the fixed-do solfège (do = C) or moveable (do = the tonic). Thanks for the question!
If the note in question functions as a flat 5th in a chord like A7b5 wouldn't you still write it as an Eb rather than D#? And in an A7#11 (functioning as a tritone sub in the key of Ab), wouldn't that be written as D#?
Good question, and you're correct. What I'm simply demonstrating here is the example of these intervals being spelled differently because of the key. If the key has flats, like B♭ major, we'd probably use E♭, while if the key has sharps, we'd likely choose D♯. There are exceptions, of course, and in some cases-especially with chord symbols on jazz charts-we might choose the spelling that's easiest to understand, as the goal is to quickly identify and play the chord. Your example of the A7♭5 is a good one--it quickly tells you what to play, regardless of the key. But if we were to write this out, especially in classical settings, we'd want to make sure the notation on the staff agreed with the key (. . . usually, but not always, haha!)
Wow~ It seems you know much about Taiwan! Welcome back to Taiwan anytime! There's still lot to explore in nature、culture、foods....The traffic is convenient and Taiwanese people are helpful. It's easy to travel around this beautiful island. ❤❤❤

哦,現在了解您的意思了!我馬上就改好了!再次謝謝您!
To clarify: in this short video I am only doing two things: 1) Transposing a melody and 2) inverting a single interval. I do NOT cover inverting an ENTIRE melody-that’s a different topic, a bit more complex, and might need a long-form video to fully explain the concept.
No. You transposed a melody, and inverted an interval. Inversion of a melody means reflecting it so that up and down are interchanged, i.e. C E G D becomes G E C F. See any of the fugues in inversion by Bach.
I did NOT say I was inverting an entire melody. In the video, I only demonstrated the two points you mentioned: (1) transposing a melody, and (2) inverting a single interval. Inverting a complete melody is a separate topic that I might cover in a future video; but again, I did not demonstrate it in this one. I apologize if the video suggested otherwise.
@@benjaminmyerscello What's more, that's only "inversion at the octave". When voices of a canon or fugue are inverted in your sense (the upper one becomes lower, and the lower one becomes upper), one can invert at any interval if the counterpoint is not made faulty by so doing; "Invertible counterpoint" is the skill of writing pairs of melodies that can be inverted in that sense at a given interval (most frequently octave, twelfth, or tenth...).
I don't know what you're point is. Obviously what you're saying is not wrong, but what I am doing in this short is making a very simple point using a very simple demonstration. I save deeper discussions for my college counterpoint classes - - not for a TH-cam short.
@@benjaminmyerscelloOk, fair enough. Thanks.
Sure thing! Maybe I'll do a longer-form video on counterpoint in the future. Thanks for the inspiration!
歡迎再來台灣旅遊😊

hey Benjamin, your Chinese accent is really good how do i improve my one, i sound so fake when i speak Chinese and its annoying, dose it get better with time?
I'm still working on it, but thank you!' The accent does get better with time. I would suggest "parroting"--pick a native speaker, and repeat what they say as exactly as possible, including the rhythm, tones, pacing, etc. and also record yourself so you can compare! You can do it!

In your experience is 2,000+ hours accurate for reaching a high level? I haven’t committed to moving beyond “survival Mandarin,” partly cuz I feel that (for me) those thousands of hours might be better invested elsewhere
@@darrentaiwan I think that it would depend on how efficiently the person studied, how often they practiced each day, etc. But I think that two thousand hours of focused study and practice would definitely help you reach a very high level, especially since you do live in Taiwan! It is a lot of time, though, I can’t deny it!
Im watching this video knowing that i could almost never try to learn a new language 🦆🔥🔥🔥🔥
I bet you could! All you need is a little interest and a good teacher. 😊
All true but it's a very " pedestrian unfriendly" place- I can never relax( on full alert)when crossing crossing any street- And if can't relax it ain't a good vacation.
I understand what you’re saying, but I also think it depends where you’re going. If you’re talking about some of the cities, you’re definitely right - - it’s quite an adventure! But if you’re going to the scenic areas, a lot of them are quieter and more serene.
Taiwan indeed is a wonderful place for vacation. It is moderately beautiful and moderately expensive (Taiwan is not exactly cheap bcos South East Asian countries are cheaper, except Singapore). Taiwanese are really nice people.
