Chopin Mazurka in G minor, op. 24 no. 1 | Marco Vitaliti
Tricky tricky mazurka, one of those pieces my instinct hasn't been able to find some sort of satisfying enough interpretation ideas to begin to work with. Every way sounded odd.
Listening to some interpretations, I noticed the second theme is played in two different ways: some plays it softly, some plays it very brillantly. I chose the brilliant side of the continuum, although I tried not to be so extreme in it.
Another thing I thought about when practicing this mazurka was Chopin's notation about pedals. Provided that pedal use is always relative (it depends how dry the place where you're playing is), on our modern instruments, Chopin's pedals shouldn't be taken literally most of the time. That's something easy to notice in general, but I thought about it a lot more than usual when playing this mazurka.

Rachmaninoff Morceaux de Salon, Op. 10 no. 5 - Humoresque
This one is the workhorse of my childhood. I guess it was kind of impressive to see a small kid pull off this piece, a piece that, even being more than enjoyable, is definitely more muscolar than properly difficult, therefore not as impressive when played by grown-up. An interesting thing about this piece is that it looks like it exists in two versions. The first is the one I've known this piec...
Chopin Mazurka in C minor, op. 30 no. 1 | Marco Vitaliti
I gave a read to a lot of Chopin's mazurkas in the last few days. Initially, I didn't find this one particularly friendly due to the akward finger changes that are needed to play most of the bars with the acciaccaturas, but once I got used, I couldn't help but fall for it. Next week is Rachmaninoff Humoresque op. 10's turn, and after that, guess what's the only piece missing to complete Rach op...
Rachmaninoff Morceaux de Salon, Op. 10 no. 3 - Barcarolle
Did I already write that Rachmaninoff's op. 10 is very underrated? This barcarolle is as beautiful as it is tricky. It's a piece I used to play when I was a kid (like the rest of op. 10), but honestly, I had a kind of rough time recording it. First, it felt too rushed, so I slowed it down. Then I realized and fixed a couple of reading errors I hadn't found in my teenage years. Nevertheless, I w...

Praeludium 0:00 Fugue 1:31 D minor is one of my favorites preludes, maybe even my absolute favorite in the WTC. It's one of those pieces that just "existed" for me until I heard one interpretation in particupar that made me fall for it. In this case it was Richter's interpretation (this could be said for the whole WTC to be honest). The main challenge I faced regards the fugue though, its ornam...
Chopin Mazurka op. 63 no. 3 in C sharp minor
Initially, the tempo I was using in this mazurka was considerably faster (the first version I recorded lasted about 30 seconds less!). I was quite satisfied with it actually, except for the sotto voce section, which just didn't make sense. Then I tried to listen to some interpretations, and it's to my surprise I found out all of them were much slower than how I was thinking it. That shows how m...
Bach Prelude and Fugue No.2 (C minor) Well Tempered Clavier, Book 1
Praeludium 0:00 Fuga 1:21 Compared to the C major prelude and fugue, this one balances out the overall difficulty, with a less complex fugue (3 voices instead of 4, less developments, less strettos, more free sections) but a way more challenging prelude (and you could rightly say every prelude of the WTC is harder than C major Book 1). #piano #bach

Praeludium 0:00 Fuga 2:16 The famous prelude in C Major which opens the Well Tempered Clavier is a nice and easy to learn piece which gives a kind welcome to the interpreter who is starting his/her journey trough this monumental and legendary series of compositions. It's essentially a piece without a melody, since it's just made of a series of chords in arpeggio. On the other hand, the 4 voice ...
Scriabin Prelude in A minor , Op. 11 No. 2
This prelude is a typical example of how, in the early period, Scriabin had a very Chopin-inspired style, with a lot of musical lines that make sense on their own and which give a lot of voicing choices to the interpreter. Quite a lot of rubato, too. There's that typical restlessness that's so typical of Scriabin, though. What's your favourite Scriabin prelude in op. 11? #piano #scriabin
Chopin Waltz in C sharp minor, Op. 64 no. 2 | Marco Vitaliti
This is one of the most played and loved Chopin waltzes. It's one of my favorite examples to choose if I had to explain to someone how complex and dense his writing was, even in compositions that sound very "simple" and are particularly easy to listen to. So many melodic lines, so many voicing choices! Can you guess what pianist inspired me for the voicing of A and B themes in the last part of ...
Ravel Prelude in A minor, M. 65 | Marco Vitaliti
In 1913, the Paris Conservatoire asked Ravel to write a piece for a sightreading competition, and the French composer made this short and delightful prelude. I admit I didn't record my sightreading because the hand overlaps in the 4th and 5th lines are tricky, and finding the right sound requires a bit practice, too. This is my first Ravel upload, hopefully the first of many 😄 #piano #ravel #pr...

This is a special video with a special piece I've always loved so much and which I'm really glad and proud to gift to you all. I've got a special connection with this John Cage piece, a music that already existed before him but that hadn't been categorized as such yet, a piece that is sadly too often dismissed as "pretentious" or considered a mere provocation. In fact, I think we all have a spe...

I've sometimes mentioned there are some pieces I used to practice and play a lot when I was a kid towards which I got some hard feelings, often because I played them too much and at the same time things never clicked with those pieces, or I was never able to play them well enough. It has been the case with Chopin Scherzo op. 39, Sonata op. 35, and a bunch of other pieces, including most of the ...

I used to play all seven pieces of this not-so-well-known Rachmaninoff suite when I was a kid. One of them was my warhorse (Humoresque), another one I was playing it alright (Romance), and two other pieces (Valse and Barcarolle), whose performances were probably hit or miss but generally acceptable. The remaining three pieces weren't my favorites, and I couldn't especially stand this nocturne, ...
Chopin Etude op. 25 no. 3 (The Horseman) | Marco Vitaliti
This isn't the most difficult etude, but I swear bars 9 to 16 made me sweat for a lot more than I'd like to admit before I was satisfied enough to record this piece. Convincing myself to arrange bar 69 with both hands instead of being stubborn and playing it only with the right hand made things simpler too. #piano #chopin #etude

I want to learn this one on summer without my teacher to bring it to him, any tips on how to approach it and understand the movement? I am scared to practice it wrongly or to not be able to increase the speed of it
I would check out Cortot's masterclass recording of this piece for inspiration. Let me know your thoughts.

Are you familiar with the works of your compatriot Mercuzio? His arrangements are simply incredible.
I don't know him, I've to check!
It's amazing how deep Rachmaninoff can be in this part. 1:15 Love it!
Yeah this is probably one of the best Rachmaninoff's less known pieces 😁
wow! there is little bit of distortion but it is okay.
Thanks! The distortion used to be way worse with pieces like this, that reach very loud sonorities. It's acceptable and I can live with it until I I'll decide to upgrade my recording device, I guess
Ballade No. 2 is very similar to this part of the etude💯 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.❤
true!
can you do a digital tutorial like with keys n stuff with like the left hand and right like paino adventure please this would mean the heavens to me my cousins baptism is coming up and i wanna playt his song im lds could you help? before june 20
Well, look like some easy Rach's I have been looking for 😮
it's easier than it looks, I swear 😁
Beautiful ❤️
Thanks 😄
Breathtaking LOVE your playing man.
Thank youuuu ☺️
Awesome!!❤
Thanks! 😙
Nice 🎉
Cortot the first for several Centuries
🎉🎉
Very nice work!
I would like some advice on studying. It is better to work in small sections or play the whole piece slowly with the metronome, increasing the metronome click every day.
I never used the second method you mentioned as I always increase the speed naturally as I become better at playing a certain piece, but the first one is very useful, expecially in sections you find the most difficult!
Wonderful playing 😊
Thank you dude 😁
You did a very great job! One small notice though, you didn't press the quatrains at 0:40 but otherwise it was near perfect!
Yeah I noticed it when I had already done the video and didn't feel it was enough to make me shoot it again 😝
Nice stuff!! Keep the great job dude💯
Thank youuu I will 😄
❤❤🎉🎉
very fluently playing Bach's pieces. 👍👍
Thank you! 😃
Great playing as always
Thanksss 😚
F minor? Isn't this D minor?
Yeah right I don't know why I wrote that 😆 I'm gonna correct it, thanks
Yooo I just got here, you putting the notes on the screen is absolute gold thank u
Glad you appreciate 😁

Ovvio che no, nessuno nasce imparato 😆

well played man
Thanks! 😊
How can i play it this fasttt
By practicing very slow 😬
Lovely work! Nice to see a fellow Scriabin enjoyer, especially with a channel name similar to mine, haha.
Scriabin is something else, really! 😁
Tempo too fast... this should last 4'33 and not 4'32 !
🤣
👏
The low notes in the bass are tied in the beginning several measures. There are several other places where you mistakenly place them throughout the piece, such as when the main theme returns in octaves, and measure 29 etc. Your playing is very fine. Just wanted to point that out to you in case you didn’t notice during your study of the score. It’s a mistake I’ve noticed many pianists make. If you have a middle sostenuto pedal on your piano, use that to connect those tied low bass notes. It’s been said that Liszt composed those Consolation in this way so as to make use of the newly-invented sostenuto pedal at that time.
Yeah I know all of that, I didn't play it with tied bass notes because I wasn't a big fan of how it was sounding and I also noticed a bunch of pianists used to repeat some bass notes ignoring the ties. I decided I liked that approach more (it sounded so much better for me), so I took some decisions!
Lovely, for me the best of the best in youtube
Thank you! 😁 By the way I didn't forget that ballad, I've so much stuff to do before that though 😄
@@marcopianoplayer there is no need to go fast, play whatever you want as i do. Whenever you can play It i Will be there to listen that perfect performance that you always archive
Wonderful as always! Woud love to see c minor from 2nd book
Noted!
I'm almost 67 years old now and started playing on my grand piano four years ago. Hopefully, I will live long enough to be able to play this piece one day. But I probably started playing the piano much too late. You play absolutely wonderfully. I'm getting quite jealous! 🙂Greetings from Germany!
Thank you very much! I wish you to be able to play this piece if that's your desire. It probably won't be easy at all, but giving yourself ambitious challenges is a very stimulating thing to do and hopefully it will help you to get better 😁
Viel Erfolg👍👍👍
Geez is the piano okay?☠️
